Hi and welcome... I was 52 when I did this surgery and it's been great. To help you with easy recipes even though you don't cook is a website called The World According To Eggface. (Look up on Google). She is great for all stages of your journey. Ask your nutritionist for help planning out things for you to drink in yearly stages and to eat after in the next stages. Always remember protein first, second water, third your meds and supplements and then everything else on your plan. I'm sure you must have been given a plan from your nutritionist of what you must eat at each stage. People here are always willing to help so you can always ask questions. Take care and good luck with your surgery.

That's wonderful and congrats.

Katie you did a very brave thing by ending your relationship with that unkind man. That took a lot of courage and I think that that will take you far in life. Congratulations on making the decision to have surgery and to improve your health. You're doing a wonderful thing for yourself. The people here will be with you through your whole journey and will help you when you need it. Take care and come often.

I'm in Danger of Losing My "Man Card"
Chelly replied to joatsaint's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't think so. LOL Those are great diaper cakes. You could do onesies, undershirts or wash clothes as cupcakes too. Maybe onesies, undershirt or wash clothes as sundaes. Just ideas for you. Have fun that's important. -
Is there anyone here with Rheumatoid Arthritis or any other Auto Immune disorder?
Chelly replied to pik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, RSD, stenosis of the spine and I'm doing better with pain management most of the time. You should work with a pain specialist because there are alternatives to not using narcotics to ease your pain. There are Linoderm patches which are applied to the effected areas 12 hours on 12 hours off. They help. There are topical pain relievers that work also. There are shots that you can get to help with the pain. Loosing weight helps a lot and you will move easier and for longer periods of time. Feeling good is the most important thing. -
What about using egg white protein powder from Jay Robb. It has the same amount of protein as their whey protein powder which is 25 g I believe. You can mix it with water and add Torani sugar free syrups to it for extra flavor or you could use PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder or the PB2 peanut butter powder for extra protein. Going without any protein is dangerous unless you are getting all of it in your meals. Talk to your nutritionist and ask if this is a feasible thing to do. Good luck.

I don't know about waiting until Monday about this. I think I would go to the ER if I was you to have it taken care of or at least call your surgeon right away. I know you're a nurse and you know more then me for sure but isn't it better to be safe then sorry that you didn't do something sooner then later. I hope you feel better. -
To ease your mind call your surgeon and tell them what is going on and if they think you should be checked out. They are the best judge in this situation. Feel better.

Look at the site The world according to Eggface and you'll find recipes for all stages.

I go once or twice a month to the support group that my surgeons office has. They always have different speakers but mostly they let the people of the group talk about the subject. The meetings are with support staff of the surgeons in the group. So it could be a nurse, psych., nutritionist, surgeon, physician assistant. They have subjects for both the newbies and vets. The only thing I have a complaint about is the meetings are not long enough. I also get a lot from here too.

Oh good I'm so glad you're doing so well. Congrats on such a wonderful weight loss. Wish you continued success.

About the IV insertion an anesthesiologist can do it easier then the nurses can in my opinion especially with hard to find veins. I had them do mine from knowing from a previous surgery. I agree write things down on how you are feeling it will help. When something pops in your mind about anything concerning the procedure write down and ask the surgeon's office right away. I would alert your surgeon to your requests that you mention here right away so they can put in your chart and maybe inform the hospital too. Before you are given happy juice make sure you have everything written down that you want done to you and give it to your husband and/or the nurse to make sure your wishes are carried out. Try to relax as much as possible and the best to you both on your surgeries. -
Keisha you are doing great! I wish you continued success.

how long did your bypass surgery take?
Chelly replied to HYCIERRA's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I believe I was in and out of surgery within two hours or less. I had laparoscopic surgery for my bypass. Good luck to you and the best in the future. Keep us posted how you did with your surgery. -
Gastric Bypass Surgery Tomorrow!
Chelly replied to CassJones's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The very best to you from today and this day forward. Let us know how it went and how you feel. Good luck with this new chapter in your life. -
Did you get clearance from your surgeon about all that moving and lifting? In my opinion it's to soon to be doing that without the go ahead. I would ask your surgeon about the shirt and if it will help. Do take care of yourself so you don't get hurt inside and outside.

Protein Powders/Supplements
Chelly replied to Angel❤️'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Jay Robb whey protein powders since surgery. I mix them with Torani sugar free syrups that come in a multitude of flavors. I some times mix the powders with PB2 either the chocolate peanut butter or the PB2 peanut butter. Both are very tasty. I would check with your nutritionist to make sure it's okay for you to use these products and when could you start to use them. Good luck with your up coming surgery. -
Supplements-Vitamin & Minerals
Chelly replied to wyjcole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SparklingBeauty53 the ones from Costco of the calcium chews or not calcium citrate. They are different and are not what you want as a supplement. Please look at the label of info on the back and you'll see what I'm saying is true. I know this because showed them to the surgeons office and they told me so. Just thought I tell you. Sorry. -
I personally would if your gym offers it a trainer to teach you what to do and as soon as you have the routine down then continue to do it on your own. That is what I plan on doing at this point in my exercise routine.

How long post op before hitting the weights?
Chelly replied to DaronB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would follow your surgeons advise about this and the schedule of when it's okay to exercise. After bypass you will have to take it slow and build up your strength steadily a little at a time. I wasn't allowed to exercise beyond walking until two weeks after surgery then I could only do the treadmill at the gym and a life cycle. Now I do the stationary bicycle at least 8.50 miles on level 6 in 40 minutes. I also plan to get the help of a trainer to learn other methods of exercise including weights to help rearrange and tighten up my body. Good luck and the best for your upcoming surgery. -
I'm glad to hear that you were taken care of and are better. Here's to a new start and a much healthier you. Take care.

I would show this to your nutritionist and ask them about it. They would be your best advisor about this. Let us know what they say about it please.

Quest bars are the best..... No sugar. They are made with Stevia. Low carbs. Protein is either 20 or 21 grams. High in fiber. Come in many flavors. They were approved by my nutritionist.
