Cheryl_S replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have missed you guys so much!! I lost this group when they changed to bariatric pal. I am not sure how I got back here. How do you get to our group through the new bp app? I also stopped getting emails... -
I sent requests to everyone, but couldn't find silentmee. Any how, add me if you want. My email is cscholebo@earthlink.net and user name: cscholebo.

OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I am officially part of the slow losers! I'm also in the three week stall. Seriously don't know how stalls are possible on 600 cal/day! The good thing is that I can't throw my diet to the wind like I would before on a stall. Glad to finally have a BM. How stupid is that? LOL! It seems like I go from one issue to another. Now I'm having a lot of pain in my lower left side, especially when bending over and getting up and down. I guess I might have over done it. Emailed the doctor's office and they told me to come in if it gets worse. Ready to feel better!! -

Sorry for this being TMI, but how long have you gone between BMs? I've gained almost three pounds and haven't had a BM since....Sunday? I have 5g of fiber in my water 2x a day. -
Went everywhere trying to find Kellogg's protein water mix. Also just tried Nectar's Crystal Sky and I love it! So much better than the other shakes.

After I woke up yesterday, I had a huge amount of energy. I actually went to three different stores; mostly for last minute Halloween stuff. I paid for it last night, though. My lower left incision started bothering me (at the drain site). Took a few Tylenol and back to normal today. I went to Kroger, Walmart and Target looking for Kellogg's Protein Water mixes and couldn't find them. Ended up getting them at Amazon. Still working hard at getting protein in (60g). The thought of shakes makes me gag. I ordered some nectar Crystal Sky and am so happy that I did!!! The fruity taste is great. If you are tired of the shakes, try some of it. Haven't had a BM in two days and trying so hard not to worry. It has made me gain 2 lbs!!! I guess I'm just waiting for something to go wrong (yes, I'm a negative nancy!). I'm back on my fitness pal and averaging 600 cal/day. So, I know that the calories aren't causing a gain. Just trying to hang in there! -

Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op. I hit my first depression today. I'm not sure if it is the sleep apnea, or the surgery, but I was so exhausted that I slept most of Saturday. Then, today I went to the grocery store and was really tired from doing that. It seems like I am more tired now than last week and that totally sucks. I know it is just the hormones, but I'm down because of this lack of energy and worried that something might be wrong and I don't know it. Like I said, I know it's the hormones and just trying to ride out the storm. -
I'm only a little over a week post op, but looking to make sure I get all my Protein requirements in. I'm already getting a little tired of Protein shakes. I found wellesse through web surfing and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with it. It has 10 g of protein per 1 oz serving. Seems like it might be an easier way to get all the protein in. Would love to hear any opinions about it or any other protein supplements besides Bariatric Advantage and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. http://www.wellesse.com/our-supplements/protein/

For all of you in the hospital, hang in there! For me, I didn't get any rest until I was back at home and missed my husband helping me out. Good luck and hope you are all feeling better quickly. -
I would love some people on fitbit! My user name is cscholebo and my email is cscholebo@earthlink.net. Please add me!

Some surgeons leave in a drain at the lower left incision. I'm finding it harder to find stuff to eat. Guess I'm too lazy to blend anything! I had cream of potato soup today and it was pretty easy. Also got some pudding in but feel guilty about it! I'm going to try tuna with fat free mayo tomorrow.
-
I was until yesterday. I had my first appointment with my surgeon and had my drain removed. Since I was doing okay on liquids, they have moved me onto pureed. Still kind of scared to eat new stuff, and still trying to get protein shakes in. I need to go to the store for some unflavored greek yogurt and try that with protein powder mixed in. How are things on your end?

Any October surgeries out there...

Just remember that it is much better after a week and after you get out of the hospital. Seeing the scale move will make it worthwhile. -

It does sound like dumping. I had my first 'dump' the day after I was home from the hospital. I had a unjury shake with milk and drank it fine. Felt a little hunger an hour later and tried another shake. Wasn't even half way through before I started to tell really hot, and sweaty. Then I felt jittery and couldn't sit still. Wasn't expecting to dump on a Protein shake. Not sure if it was the milk or just having too much. My doc said we could take regular Tylenol pills, instead of liquid. Hope you feel better soon! -

cymbalta after surgery
Cheryl_S replied to preopmano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This might be too late to mention, but I am also on cymbalta. I was told to take the capsule whole because of the time release. The outer coating dissolves so that the medicine is dispensed slowly. However, if you open the capsule and take the "beads" at one time, you get the dose all at once which can be dangerous. -

I'm supposed to go to a concert tomorrow. My husband bought the tickets a long time ago but I'm worried about being able to walk from the parking lot all the way to the seat at 5 days post op. What do you guys think? -
We are surgery buddies! I am also 4 days post op. I'm having trouble getting comfortable in bed, too, but a lot better than in the hospital. My solution so far is sleeping with two pillows. It raises my chest slightly and it seems to help. Good luck!
