I have always been overweight. I weighed 11 pounds when I was born. My mother had surgery in 1980 and I never gave it a second thought until my brother passed away at 49 due to complications of Diabetes. I was diagnosed two years ago and it really didn't hit home that I was dying until my brother passed. I took it from there starting out my journey into Bariatric surgery. I am two weeks out of surgery with normal blood sugars and I am no longer on medication. WLS has saved my life.
