  1. Tina -- 7 pounds is wonderful!! You are doing so well. I'm hoping that I'll see the scale moving in a steady fashion after my second fill tomorrow; we'll see... I'm wishing you smooth, safe travels this week -- I can't wait to hear all about Tanner!! Wow -- family leave at Christmas -- you're a lucky mom! Happy sunday , everyone!
  2. To those who worked out on Thanksgiving: :cheer2: Why do I always sabatoge (however its spelled) myself? My previous mini goal for Jan was so outlandish -- I'm only 2 pounds there and there's no way on the good Earth that I can lose another 18 pounds in Dec! Again, setting myself up for failure. What in the world was I thinking? :faint: I'm going to re-think my goal..... Hey 'heel -- Dec 11th will be here before you know it! This is such an exciting time and it sounds like you've got a great plan.
  3. Just a quick "hi" to everyone and a shout out to my fellow Tarheel! Welcome to all the new folks! Looks like December is going to be busy for Dr. K and staff. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did an about face in my choices and ate sweet and/or soft processed carbs instead of healthy proteins/veggies/fruit. I was consumed my the fear was having a PB in front of the extended family and then having to explain, so I didn't even try any turkey or ham. Consequently, I had an upset stomach (TMI -- sorry) all day yesterday from the drastic diet change.:sick :bolt:I am back on track today, but avoiding those scales for a day or two! Happy weekend eveyone -- we're starting to decorate today!
  4. Safe travels to you and your son! Welcome Tanner!
  5. Thanks for the list, mal, and thanks, woofay, for the fridge idea -- I am printing and posting it in the place of honor right now!
  6. Hi Want2Be! Yep, I only have 1.5 cc -- During my fill, my doc put in much more than 1.5 and then backed some out as I was in a standing position and drinking water. 1.5 cc was where we stopped. In our discussion before the actual fill started, he said that he, with his other APS patients, has usually started with around 3 the first fill but it's a very individual thing. I'm going for my second fill next Monday, so we'll see what I get this time!
  7. Hi MissMona! Welcome to the boards. You are in good hands with Dr. K. I am techno-challenged, but I'll give it a try ~~ For signature: Sign In Click on USER CP in the top row of links Click on EDIT SIGNATURE on the left side link list. Create and save a signature in the text box in the same way that you would a regular post. You can go to the site The Ticket Factory or www.tickercental.com or another website to creat a ticker for your signture, then copy and paste the ticker's code to you signature using the steps above. I haven't added any photos yet, so I can't help with that. I hope the above helps.
  8. Dee-- 8 pounds is fantabulous! WOW! Mal -- I avoid dressing rooms like the plague! But it won't be long until you're gliding into Kohl's, thumbing through the racks, and spending way too much because you look so freakin' gorgeous and skinny in everything you try on that you can't chose just one item. Next winter will be a different Kohl's shopping experience, for sure!
  9. Wow, Lap~~ What a difference! You look great -- way to go!
  10. Woofay -- But if it's Turkey Cookie dough, doesn't that make it low carb and healthy?? :biggrin1: Dee -- I have 2 wild, loud boys -- they drive me absolutely crazy, but I love them dearly! I wish I would have had them when I was younger and had more energy, but you know how the PCOS thing goes. As far as the fruit -- I LOVE me some fruit, and I've had pineapple, banana and mandarin orange (does that count?), but I haven't branched out to the apple or grape yet. We have fruit salad on the Thanksgiving menu, so I'll be testing the waters soon...... Taynuh, what's the latest on Tanner's arrival? Happy Sunday, everybody!
  11. Hey Want2b -- good to see you! Does Dr. K require dietary restrictions for the first 24-48 hours after a fill? (liquid, soft, whatever?) I can't wait to get to the place where I am not constantly thinking about FOOD! I am maintaining right now, but I want to get to the place where this tool does what it is supposed to. Sorry, peeps, but I'm just feeling frustrated today. Not just band issues, but that's what I blaming today. What do you guys eat in a typical day? Are you shooting for a certain calorie range? A certain carb range? A certain amount -- like 1 cup per meal? My ultimate goal is that I eat 3 healthy, small meals a day of about a total cup of food. Is that realistic? I am so far away from that today, it seems..... Sorry for the rant, I am so hormonal today! On a more positive note, I've exercised for 4 consecutive days! I think that this is a first for me. Everyone stay weel and have a wonderful week!
  12. Hi Dee -- Fruit jones = my way of my way of saying my fruit addiction. (I am a child of the '70s :hippie: so sometimes wierd words just spew forth.) Lap -- I love the Sesame Street thanksgiving cartoon. Too funny! My children are fine. No police had to be involved. Just a mean old mama saying "what's the problem down here?":sorry: I will never learn! Letting them stay up late on Friday to play Xbox is ALWAYS a bad idea, never a positive character-building childhood memory. No PBs this week for me. YIPPEE -- I think I'm finally slowing down, but I can still each way too much. So, of course, I am!! How's eveyone doing today??
  13. Hi Fellow Groupies!:hail: Tied2B -- I think some cashews are ok -- but the lower the carbs the better for the pre-op. But don't listen to me, I spent the whole pre-op time trying to justify my fruit jones. Mal -- that picture cracks me up! Dynamo -- nice tan! Make me yearn for summer again. Woof -- enjoy your brother's visit! well my children are screaming at each other now so must go break it up before the police show up... more later...
  14. Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the weekend ~ I know I am! Munchkin -- Ditto what Nicnacnut said ( Hi Nic!). If I weren't 2 time zone's away, I'd check on you myself. Rosey -- I hate when there's one person:blah: who hogs all the talk time in a support meeting. Makes me want to :boxing:. I used to work with a support program for pregnant teens. We had this koosh ball at every meeting. We had a rule in group time that only the person who was holding the ball could talk. And when she finished her point she had to toss it to someone else. It usually turned out if someone wanted to hog the talk time, the other girls wouldn't pass the ball back. It always worked out and nobody hurt each other . It also served as a way to bring someone out of her shell somewhat too in a non-threatening way. I hope this makes sense. Maybe it's a kind of "had to be there" thing. I dunno. Anyway, maybe you share your feelings with the group leader before the next meeting? Sorry to hear about your hematoma, too!
  15. What a gorgeous group! Thanks for posting, Woofay! I SO look forward to seeing everyone and it makes my day to see your beautiful smiles and slimming faces. Wish I could be there -- one day...one day....
  16. at the "subtle" recruiting techniques. A good ICU nurse is a much sought after commodity in EVERY neck of the woods! Those folks would be crazy to let their investment walk out the door and they know it -- now that a nurse manager is involved, things should start to happen. She's probably not looking forward to the prospect of having to fill your place in her schedule and she knows you could get hired somewhere else today if you chose. This should be a interesting to see how things unfold... :pop2:
  17. Good point, Tina! Nic- Ya'll have fun tonight and please post lots of pictures! I'm living vicariously through all of you folks who get to meet each other. Mare -- I'm sending you a cyber hug. There. Hope you got it. Some days the band sucks. I hope tomorrow is better and maybe the RR gang has some good ideas for you tonight.
  18. Kudos to you!!! By advocating for yourself, you're advocating for the other future bariatric patients at your hospital -- good nursing, like we learned back in nursing school (oh so long ago..... ) I have a feeling they will make this right in the long run. They really don't have a choice, do they?
  19. Want2B -- You look great!!!!!!!!!!!! what a difference those 28 pounds have made --- keep it up, girl!:clap2: I love my shock collar. I love my shock collar. I love my shock collar.
  20. Yippee Dee! You are on your way, friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Hi kshoate and welcome! Perhaps the real question is: why are other surgeons so expensive? I believe that Dr. K is really a breath of fresh air in the healthcare world that is polluted with so many middle men, all after a piece of the pie. (Pie? Yummy. I'd love some. :hungry: Sorry -- got distracted there for a minute.) Seriously, there is no insurance company involvement, no staffing costs to process the insurance paperwork, insurance calls, insurance appeals, yadda yadda yadda. So what you get is a good surgeon providing a good service at a good price. It a very good deal for folks like me who must self pay and want a JAHCO facility, board certified surgeon in the good old US of A. Good deals like this don't come around too often -- go for it!
  22. Wrkl8 -- thanks! I'll be looking for some of those. Rosey -- I agree with Wrkl8 -- that sounds like port pain, which seems to be the last area to heal. If it worsens or doesn't improve or your pain med doesn't control it, call Dr. K. munchkin -- Dr. K is a wonderful surgeon and I have no regrets about traveling to see him at all. You'll be in good hands, if that what you end up doing. It will be interesting to see how the administration handles the damage control this week!
  23. Lap -- Beautiful pictures! Love the colors. I'm glad you're ok. I am freaking out over the saline loss/discoloration that Dr. K found during your fill! This has been my biggest post op worry -- how in the world could the saline get discolored like that and there be less saline in there if the band system is intact?? What did Dr. K say you should do for follow up? Keep us posted on this, please. Once of my biggest concerns has been that I'll let someone else do a fill and then I'll have a problem. Want2B -- are you sure that's not your port? Mine feels like that. Happy Monday, friends!
