    10 years after

I too am 10 years out. I was getting hungry, gained about 35-40 lbs. then, I started watching some documentaries about our food supply like "food, Inc.", "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" ....all on Netflix. Anyway, it changed everything . I bought a Vitamix, and now I 'drink' 6-8 servings of fruits and veggies 5-7 days per week in green smoothies. I lost 40 lbs and have kept it off for over a year...I don't crave a lot of the stuff I used to, and don't count calories or anything like that. My weight before gastric bypass was 344, and I hover around 176-182 now, which is just where I want to be. Best wishes!!

    Weight Gain After Surgery?

I held my original after-surgery weight of 190-194 and then I gained up to 227. I was really concerned about that. So I started doing some research about our food supply, Watching movies like food Inc. and other food related documentaries. It didn't take long for me to realize that our food supply is really lousy and our bodies are starving. I began by cutting out a lot of the meat and Protein shakes . I started eating more whole foods fruits vegetables - that sort of thing. But I couldn't eat enough with my little pouch. So I started juicing and that helped some, but I could tell I wasn't getting all the Fiber And nutrition, and that is when I bought a Vitamix. About that time I watched the documentary "fat sick and nearly dead" and it changed my eating completely!! Although I still like chocolate and some sweets, i have changed my eating habits to every day drinking a green smoothie. I crave them now! And I can eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with no problem. I drink about a pound of spinach a week! I really feel so much better now too that I don't drink a lot of those Protein Shakes. My joints don't hurt and I don't get tired in the afternoon like I usually did. I even started feeling so good that I joined a gym and lost an extra few pounds that way! I should've started selling the vita mix, as its so helpful for us RNY folks to get our nutrition in a smoothie- no gas either! If you try this I would just recommend to start very slow.

    11 years post-op- SUCCESS STORY!

No plastics, but if I could, I'd maybe have a tummy tuck.
  4. I started at 334 pounds and am now holding at a comfortable 177-180 (5' 8' tall). I got down to 195 with the surgery and held that for several years. Then I gained back up to 225. Not happy! I started doing research about the food available in the grocery stores and the food that I was eating regularly. I I had fallen into the trap of eating low fat low sugar foods that were highly processed and not very nutritious. I also was achy, tired often and sluggish. I cut out a lot of the processed foods that I was eating, and I bought a Vitamix. I started drinking a big smoothie with lots of fresh, organic fruits and veggies every day. Then, after losing about 25 pounds, I joined a local gym and I actually had the energy to exercise 2-4 times per week. I naturally lost 45 pounds and have maintained that for 2 years now.
