I am also around 170# & 5'5". I have been exercising and doing weights for almost a year. I think that makes me look smaller. It still doesn't put my bmi in a normal range.

Great job -
How about the ones that say you don't need to lose any more weight or you will be too skinny? I know they mean well, but I want a healthy bmi. Health was my whole reason for having wls!

Looking good! Keep up the good work.

We are all doing so well on our weight loss journey. Hard to believe 4 months in. All those extra goodies are going to challenge us, but we can do it. Just remember self control. Something we didn't have a year ago! I wish my August buddies safe and Happy Holidays!

Great accomplishment! Congrats!

Surgery Aug. 6. I am down around 45#. Losing hair like crazy! NUT told me to increase protein to boost weight loss (and possibly slow hair loss). I now treat myself to a protein shake in the evening. I can't stand the taste/smell of protein powder anymore so I have to be creative. I use skim milk, instant milk powder, sugar free choc syrup, pb2, 3/4 scoop of whey protein, crushed ice. Blended in my bullet. That helps ensure I get at least 80 grams of protein a day. I am really feeling emotionally down, which is very unlike me. I hope that passes soon. I hope everyone else is doing well and feeling grateful for this weight loss opportunity.

Great job, losing over 40# already. You will do fine losing the next 20#. I can tell by your post that you are determined!

I have been losing hair for about 2 wks. Ugh! I already had fine/thin hair so was really dreading this phase. On a positive note, I am 30# from goal weight. SD: 8/6/13.

Need support badly
waddapane replied to poisonedsweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seek therapy or join a support group. There is too much work done in preparation of this surgery to sabotage it. It's kind of like quitting smoking. Once you pick up a cigarette you are likely going to become a full time smoker. Same goes with any addiction, including food. -
How about some NSVs!?!?

So, our choices are pancakes or tube socks? -
Definitely. You look great!

No way. You feel every bump in the road the first week or two. Plus there is a good chance you will still have a drain tube. They require care in a sterile setting. Not all surgeons leave them in though. You will also need lots of rest. There is no way of knowing whether or not you will have complications.

Yes, my face is the first place I gain and first place I lose. Thats what everyone comments on, how much thinner my face is. Now I have a turkey neck. lol.

Surgery Aug. 6. So far I have tolerated everything I have eaten. I do Zumba 2-3 times a week plus weights 2 -3 times a week. People are really noticing my weight loss. Especially the ladies in my Zumba class. I wear size 12-14 Danskin pants and they look good. I have lost about 30# since surgery. 217# day of surgery, now 187#. Sz 14 pants are getting loose in legs and butt. My waist is still big so pants are tight in waist. Overall I feel great and am glad I took 6 months to prepare my body for the surgery.

I couldn't do the puree or baby food either. I lived off refried bean concoctions, key lime greek yogurt and scrambled eggs during that phase. Had to add protein shakes too. Now I don't touch the shakes.

Good luck with Zumba. It is an excellent calorie burner and toner. I started Zumba in February. I was the biggest girl in class. The ladies were very welcoming and encouraging, which is probably why I stuck with it. Now I am able to keep up with the class. I always look forward to my next class.

probably not, salad is not a good idea. I am 6 wk post op and just today can start eating lettuce. I don't think it digests well.

What ya eating tonight?
waddapane replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the crock pot Queen. lol. Quartered potatoes with chicken thighs on top. Very tasty and such a small portion only took a few hours in a small crock. Yesterday was 2 baby back rib bones in crock. Often I cook in crock while I am sleeping so food doesn't overcook on my long work days. Plus I can take some for lunch. -
You have to schedule gym time like it is a job. Otherwise it is easy to find excuses to skip. 20 min. of cardio to start is good, but needs to be increased eventually to at least 40 min. preferably more. Once you start getting in shape you will want to do more weight reps and cardio. Seems like the first thing to go are the saddle bags on the hips.

Follow up becuase i wasnt feeling good
waddapane replied to jennifer b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine had grape flavoring added. It tasted so horrible. That is why I mixed it. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get it down. Plus I was only 6 days post when I developed an infection so that made it harder to drink much at a time. -

If they put you on liquid antibiotic, it tastes horrendous! I put 10 ml in 4oz cherry or grape flavored water/G2 then gave it a good squirt of the liquid kool-aid cherry or grape water flavoring to further cover the medicine taste. -

waddapane replied to bb00024's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your surgeon. You shouldn't be in great pain on day 6.
