  1. My name is Debbie. Im so inspired by your conversation. All good advise by separating eating from drinking and Portion Control. Exercise and get sleep to add to all the comments. It truly is a mental game. My family celebrated a birthday party while I maintained my diet. It was great because everyone complained how miserable they were and I felt great, plus waking up the next morning and watching the scales pay off!!!! That is surely the best!!! :D

  2. Wow, I finally found the website. I had surgery 10/29/13 and the first week post op the site was gone! I was real disappointed. I was looking up the RNY talk website that was put under my favorites and it was not pulling the new one up. So hopefully changing to bariatric pal website will make the difference. Glad to finally see some post! At work, when I see people doing bariatric appts I tell them about our forum. I'm proud of our group!

  4. Hey all, surgery 10/29/13. Everything went super good. Home on 10/31/13. A little sore. Just stuck with the liquid loratab the first day home but only once today. I feel real good just real slow. Getting my Protein in and most all Water. My doc told me to not take my Vitamins till my follow up appt. He said that most new gastric bypass patients do not tolerate vitamins. So I will wait to start those. Glad to be on the loser bench! Band to Bypass Rocks!

  5. tmposton, First I would have to tell you that this website is the BOMB! So many great stories!! My story is had the band, hated it, it flipped side ways and I could not get a fill or Fluid out....removed in July 2013. My son had the sleeve 3 years ago and has done fabulous and he can eat anything, but quanity is limited...but is ready to eat shortly after "settling" for a while. I have chosen the RNY because of my reflux and I like the idea of feeling full longer with less input! I am scheduled 10/28/13 and looking forward to the new me...

  6. Hi Pattycakes 209. We are having surgery the same day! I feel like its really getting close and I have told a couple of people at work that I'm doing this. They are so supportive! One has had the Rny, I've been asking her a lot of things.....I'm suppose to stay 2.5 days. No pre-op diet (WOW). Taking a good book, pillow and blanky.... chapstick and phone for music...probably wont use it, but just in case. I pray I don't have too much pain..

  7. My insurance would pay for the bypass only. I was willing to pay out of pocket for the sleeve. My doctor chose RNY because of reflux and I have had the lap band, it was removed in June. My date is Oct 29! I was scheduled 10/03/13 but my boss could not let me off due to emergencies that came up and left us 3 people short. I just think after weighing my options (no pun intended) RNY is the best for me.

  9. UK-Sleever, I had a band, going to have RNY 10/29/13! I thought I might like the sleeve as you, but, I know myself and would cheat like crazy!!! My son has the sleeve and went from 320 to 180 when he was 19. He looks good, feels good and eats anything in moderation. Moderation is what I got with the lap band. I know for myself the restriction with malabsortion is my choice. It will not be kind if I want something bad.....I don't want to go thru all this again and not achieve success!!!! Good luck with YOUR choice. From Texas.
