    Just getting started in Richmond

Hi Mamato3~ I had to show previous efforts of weightloss...it was my insurance requirement (UHC). Each insurance is different though. Just check with them to find out exactly what you need. This will help speed up the process. So far so good with me. For some odd reason, I want a piece of chocolate cake from Ukrop's!!! LOL! I'm still somewhat sore in my port area. But pretty much okay. I need to work on drinking more water...have lost 23 lbs. since pre-op though.

Anyone with United Healthcare get LB?

Hi Wheetsin~ I think the two of us has the exact same plan with UHC. They covered my surgery 100%. Do you know how the handle fills? I'm due to go in the 9th and was just wondering if that will be out of pocket. Thanks!

Teacher from Georgis with UHC Insurance

Hi~ I have UHC. They didn't give me any problems at all as far as coverage for my lapband. Ummm...I had to have a psych eval, nutrition class, records showing atleast 6 months (may have been less) of supervised weightloss efforts and they covered me 100%. I di not have a PCP referral because I have a PPO. Hope this helps....
  7. I was STARVING!!!!! LOL! They gave me 8ozs of Carnation Instant Breakfast and I completely forgot about only drinking a small amount and drunk atleast half the cup. Of course I remembered REALLY quick because I had to go directly to the bathroom LOL!!!

Hi Ja9Va~ I was banded on 9/20...so far so good. I really need to work on getting my shakes in....I guess that I'm alittle paranoid about my band slipping if I put tooo much in. No I have not gone to a support meeting as of yet...I live about 40 mins from St. Mary's so I was hoping to find a support group in my area. (Hopewell) My appt. is scheduled for Oct. 9th with Dr. Schroeder...what usually happens at the 1st appt? I went walking today...still kinda sore from my port...but not tooo bad.

Hi Momto3 ~ When is the seminar scheduled? I started the process in March and had surgery in Sept. What type of insurance do you have? It may be a good idea to go ahead and get a copy of your prior weightloss efforts now. I think it took me about 2 weeks to get it from the doctor. It may seem to go really slow but beofre you know it your date will be here. Honey, I know about "counting down days" I even put a big calender up in the kitchen with my days marked out..LOL! Hang in there! Signed, "One of your Cheerleaders for weight loss":whoo:

how long did you have to take off

As an educator, I think a week should be fine. I was worried about the kids coming up and hugging me around the waist....I work in Elementary. And I think its best to go back either mid-week or at the end of the week. Remember that your body is still healing so you do not want to overwork it. That way...if you are exhausted by the end of the day, atleast you would only have 2 or so days to go opposed to 4.

    Think I Really Messed Up!!!!

Thanks alot everyone~ I was somewhat confused because on one set of parers the Dr. indicated for me to be on "clear fluids" but then on my discharge papers it said "full liquids". Well, the clam chowder went down well...I even have some left-over for 2morrow:whoo:. I start my mushy sate on Thursday that will last for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any good recipes?

Hi Mary Walker 20!!! You do not have long now~ YEAH!!!!!:whoo:Did your Dr. tell you that you will stay overnight? I was somewhat confused because what they consider as outpatient is actually over night...I thought I would have the surgery and leave the hosp. within a few hours. Boy was I wrong. Anything less that 24hrs. is considered "outpatient". I had to be at St. Mary's at 8 a.m. (got there late) and was waking up in Recovery around 11:30 or so. They discharged me on Friday...which I'm glad they let me stay over night. (Less than 24 hours)I was alittle sick on the first day...was allergic to the pain meds. but was able to walk around without any assistance. They gave me tea, Carnation Instant Breakfast and all the sugar free popsicles I could eat!!! :peep: Oh, and apple or grape juice. I can't wait to hear from u after surgery:girl_hug:.

    Insecure Spouse

My husband feels the exact same way. At first, I thought he was alittle insecure but after I was banded on this past Thursday...he is really starting to let his ways show. Just last night he told our daughter that hes starting a diet so that he could keep up with Mommy. OKAAAAAY! :omg: Then he has even made little comments that I'm going to look sick being small or look like I have a big head and alittle body like Al Roker. WOW!!! I did this surgery for my children...want to be around long enough to see them grow up. But that only motivates me to really exercise...there is nothing I can do about his insecurities....and I'm not gaining my weight back to make him feel comfortable.
