What to take to the hospital ?
Jen_Bach replied to krazyladya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slippers, a robe, chapstick, your cell phone and charger, maybe a book... I brought one, but never opened it! Oh and of coarse some comfy cloths to go home in! -
I bought the body fortress vanilla creme from Walmart. Meets the standards and its tolerable. I add it to 6 ounces of plain Greek yogurt and 2 ounces of skim milk. The yogurt kills the sweetness! I also have some of the unjury rtd drinks. Some are quite flavorful some are sour. Overall would not and have not been able to put more then a few ounces a day of them down. But hey, they beat protein powder drinks...

Did your Menstral Change after Surgery?
Jen_Bach replied to kparadisek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The wonderful world of menstruation reared its ugly face to me this past Saturday and has been relentless! Before surgery (9-23-13) I was lucky to have one every few months and with a light to medium flow! Not to be gross, but I think it would be easier to attach a bag somehow or just sit on the toilet :/ I don't sleep well and that makes me a bit crabby! I certainly don't feel like exercising, but feel better after I do as far as cramps are concerned. Good thing I have never had crazy cravings at this time of the month because I am sure they don't come in liquid or puree form LOL! I have wanted salt though -
I had my surgery on Monday, pain was not nearly as bad as I had thought it may be. The things that hurt was getting up to walk or go to the bathroom, and trying to turn in bed. It also was mostly abdominal and upper back muscles that hurt. The incisions don't hurt me at all. I did the morphine for the first 24 hours randomly, usually after walking, but as soon as I started my water challenge they disconnected my IV, and I had two doses of the liquid lortab. I have not taken any more pain meds since I left the hospital. I am planning on taking as much time as possible off, I have signed up for 4 to 6 weeks, as my surgeon recommended it. Its a new me... I have to learn how to feed it properly and everything. Its been a challenge just getting fluid in, say nothing about the protein shakes. I have gotten about 4 ounces of that into me today. Long road but well worth it!

Just wondering how much pain everyone had post-op and for how long it lasted. Just trying to be prepared. I know everyone's pain tolerance is different. Oh, and what is it that actually hurts, incisions or insides?

Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
Jen_Bach replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well I will be thinking of you! Maybe we should swap some info and keep in touch! -
Well I guess I will just have to wait and see for myself. I had an emergency appendectomy a couple years ago... thinking it sounds like similar pain. 21 days and I guess I will know LOL!
