I am looking for a sweetener to use in my tea in the mornings. I don't add it to anything else. I am not allowed any sugar alcohols, and can not stand it if something I drink leaves an after taste in my mouth. I thought about adding some vanilla protein powder but I am afraid it will clump because I like me tea to be HOT.

Another newbie, ranting
Jen_Bach replied to clark1720's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can stay on the Protein shakes for the rest of your life if need be. They,Water and the Vitamins have all you need to survive I was told by my doctor. So if you can not take in other protein forms you can always rely on those. Its not easy, but who ever said it would be? Its worth it... I can also tell you that the pain levels vary from people to people. I left the hospital and NEVER took any pain meds. I never asked anyone to do anything for me. The more you move the better you feel faster. -

What 3 things do u wish u had been told?
Jen_Bach replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The first two I thought for sure I was bleeding to death! Of coarse I was on blood thinners still the first time around so that may have played factor into it, the second time was better then the first, but still bad. My third is about normal to what it was back when I was having it regularly anyways. Definatly the first was worse!!! -

You will definatley say to yourself at least once "WHY DID I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!?!" Then you will say "SHUT UP! YOU DID THIS FOR YOU, AND YOUR HEALTH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!" However the three things I would have liked to know is: 1. Its not easy, but its all well worth it! 2. Its all about retraining your brain, and your body... breaking habits and making new ones! 3. Don't give up! If you stumble get back up, If you need a shoulder or an ear reach out! There is always someone willing to listen! -
I am three months out and love beef jerky! Great source of protein! YUM!

Since I could start eating solid foods on occasions I get acid reflux which I never had before. Other times I feel as though if I bend over what ever I last ate is going to come right back up or even just sitting I have to keep swallowing to keep it down. Doesn't matter what it is, or how little or much I ate. Has anyone else had this and what did you do to deal with it? I'm really getting frustrated! I am 2 months out tomorrow.

Congrats on the start of your new life! -
How long if at all did you have to avoid tomato or tomato products after surgery? How about fruit or veggies with skins or seeds? 8 long weeks for me and my program. I know everyones program is different depending on where you go.

tomato/tomato products...
Jen_Bach replied to Jen_Bach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 8 weeks before I could have any of the products in the original post, by the nutritionist. I was just wondering what others guidelines were. I have read others can't have bread for 6 months. I could have toast and crackers at 4 weeks post op. And to be honest it was the first solid thing I could consume that felt good in my pouch! Of coarse it was about a third of a piece of Sarah Lee multigrain with a thin layer of peanut butter (which I could have since day 3 after surgery) -

The countdown is official now! I will email you tomorrow! Been so busy and am now on another antibiotic! This time for double ear infection! Go figure... -
I had mine Sept 23rd. I have lost 31 pounds so far. I stall for a few days not loosing anything and I was told this is perfectly normal! A lot of it depends on your intake and your activity levels. I still am unable to get all my Fluid or Protein "goals" into me but I make sure to exercise! Your not alone! It will happen all in good time! Be patient and keep healthy.

When my potassium is low that happens to me! I would try eating some banana, spinach, or other high potassium foods. Good luck! -
Need Protein drink ideas
Jen_Bach replied to Lossingitxo's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have had the same problem. I just find ways to dress them up a little and stay within the guide lines of what I can have. At first I hated the chocolate that I got from GNC, but then I added 8 ounces of milk, and three frozen cherries and it was much more palatable! I know when I can add my fruits to them again I will be happy with the vanilla! As the fruit is what makes the taste! Wish I could help you more then that! but its hard to tell someone else what they will like, when you don't really enjoy them yourself! -
What Day After Surgery Was Your Worst?
Jen_Bach replied to McCormick4062's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really have any pain. I was uncomfortable like I had just done some major workout and my back and stomach muscles were the target. However that got better by day 3. Also I was really only feeling sick the day after surgery... and now when I take my pills. It passes quickly though! I will be 4 weeks out Monday! -
I had to break open my capsule and add it to water the first two weeks. Then could take them whole. The Omeprazol are small so that's tolerable. But the actigal are big and they tend to be very uncomfortable going down! Thinking I might go back to breaking them apart and taking them! But definatley should be doing what the doctor orders!

I had surgery on 9-23 and I can drink quite a bit if it tastes good. I don't feel full from it, just never hungry either... They told me it was ok as long as I am not gulping it down!

I can't have cheese yet either. I am looking forward to it though! I am on Protein drinks and pureed food until November. The cheese would certainly help with the dryness! -
two weeks one day out and down 19 pounds. I can't wait till next year at this time!
