    9 days post-op still nothing

Everyone is different. Wait until your body heals. Use other people's success as inspiration and not comparison. You will be fine.
  3. Hi, I'm on a post op diet of sorts.......and having small amounts of soup, milk and yogurt for supper (1/4 cup each). Tht was fine for the first week, but now that I'm healing I'm quite hungry......what do you guys eat???? Drink????? Help please!
  4. Thanks Kat.....I'll have to buy some plain protein powder.....I don't think chocolate or vanilla would go well with asparagus soup!! Ha! ha! ha! I'll try to add plain to my soup and see if I feel more full. Funny, for several days post op I felt I had found a miracle.....I was not hungry at all......and all of a sudden......wham! I'm hungry.....I guess as I'm healing my appetite is coming back.......darn!

    Feelings of entitlement

I can also so relate........I used to eat with any emotion.....glad, sad, mad.....etc.....food was always the celebration.....I was raised in a home where food was always the reward for anything......I agree with Sula, why would we give ourself......let's a gift of 30 minutes by ourselves....for a nice long walk listening to some funky music.......we all know we would feel WAY BETTER after a relaxing walk compared to just eating a plate of food......it's bizarre.........Alexandra nailed it......it's this feeling of entitlement....for wahtever bizarre reason I use this as my excuse..........I'm journaling everyday now.....even if I only write a sentence or two......and I have to say it does make me feel grounded.....my gifts to myself over the past couple weeks....are a new toe polish color......a relaxing bath and home facial......a new book......and I'm feeling quite fabulous...................

I just joined a few minutes ago

Welcome and all the best to you. I've been banded a week now and I'm feeling great. The pre-op diet was challengin at times......but the mood swings get better after a few days once the sugar and carb highs and lows stabalize......you certainly realize how food effects your mood......you can do it! It's really not that bad.....and just think....this is the best thing you can do for your health and your life.........

    Let me introduce myself

Dahhhhhling.......it can be challenging to form an opinion on what you read on here......because of the nature of any chat/support sites, you are going to see the extremes of all opinions. Look at the real medical stats......I know the Canadian stats....and people banded with any complications is less than 1%.......that is an incredible stat and it convinced me to go forward with the surgery. I've been banded a week and my only regret is not having it done sooner! All the best to you............

    Just Banded

I bought one of Miracle Blender......(version of Magic Bullet).....and I LOVE it.....I've been on full liquids since Saturday and I'm having fun experimenting with shakes.......for one of my shakes yesterday I did 1/2 scoop chocolate Protein powder, 1/2 cup milk, 1tsp vanilla extract, 2 tsp decaf instant coffee........and blend.....YUMMY......this morning I did 1/2 scoop vanilla Protein Powder, 1/2 cup milk, 1tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp coconut extract, 1/2 tsp banana extract.....and blend......YUMMY too!! I'm feeling pretty good....I only take pain meds at bedtime......since it's sore to more around in bed.....during the day I'm feeling pretty normal.....just still a bit tired. I went shopping for a couple hours yesterday......bought my hubby a charcoal smoker for his birthday....... Looks like I've lost 8 lbs since my surgery a week ago.....that's seems a tad fast......but I suppose you lose a lot of Water in the beginning......I can see the weight loss in my face a little...... Hope you all all recovering well and feeling devine............

Been siz days for me......first 4 days on clear fluids and past 2 days on full fluids....I was feeling quite week and then started taking a liquid multi vitamin three times a day (from health food store) and WOW.....what a difference.......Took me a few days to poop......I had a 1/4 cup of prune juice and mixed my liquid vitamin inside it 3 times per day.......I'm feeling pretty darn good......I am a tad emotional.....and I know that's me learning to live without large amounts of food.....it's so strange not to be snacking.....or having big meals.......amzing how I was relying on food to medicate my feelings....whether glad or sad.........thank gawd my hubby is being amazingly supportive..........

    Banded Six-Figure+ Female Professionals?!?

Soup is great....and safe at lunches....just make sure you have enough protein in between. I also travel a lot and I've only been banded a week.....I've been wondering how to deal with travel issues. For example, I have our annual company senior executive retreat in two weeks.........it's for three days and I will still be on pureed food....and we are all together for breakfast/lunch/dinner. I called the hotel and they have no problem making me anything I like.....but what should I have them make me so I don't stand out too-too much at the three formal dinners???? (breakfast and lunch are easy).........

    Banded Six-Figure+ Female Professionals?!?

Honestly.........my weight has not held me back in my career whatsoever. I am in the top of my field and highly respected throughout the country. I am excellent at what I do and have a great personality and attractive and yes, overweight. My issue is more with myslef than others. Sometimes I feel like an actress.......I'm one person on the outside and another person on the inside. I have constant self doubt and it all revolves around my weight.

Blue Eyed: Yes....I agree.....it's important to know exactly what you should be doing.....especially during the healing stage since you don't want to over do it..... I'm allowed 1/4 cup of Jello and 1/4 of broth.......and for some bizarre reason I feel full afterwards..........I also am addind a liquid Vitamin to my juice....... Where are you from? I'm from Toronto?

    Just Banded

Hi Blue Eyes......we're most likely following a different plan from our doctors......My first day I only had small sips of water.....I was on sips of water for the first 24 hours......like my post said....I can only have protein shake or yogurt on day five.......right now just juice, pediolite, jello and broth......plus 1.5 litres of water per day.....sipping throughout the day......lots of people do it slightly different on here depending on their doctor.....I figure since I'm self pay....I'm going to listen to exactly what my doc tells me to do......(for once! ha! ha!).....did you do a pre-op fast of any kind? I had to do a 10 day pre-op and lost 8lbs......

    Just Banded

Hi Blue-Eyed......Congrats.....I was on sips of water for the first 24 hours......now I'm on day three (of four) of clear fluids only (breakfast: 1/2 cup pure juice, 1/2 Pediolite, 1/4 cup jello Lunch and Dinner: 1/2 cup pure juice, 1/2 Pediolite, 1/4 cup jello plus 1/4 cup of broth. After four day of this I switch to full fluids for 10 days (yogurt, protein shake, strained soup etc.).....then 14 days of pureed food....then slowly onto solids......surprisingly I feel full......I guess I'm healing......
  17. You can't eat like that darling! You can really hurt your band.....you need to be healing now before your fill.....

    Banded Six-Figure+ Female Professionals?!?

Hi, I'm an executive in the magazine insustry in Toronto. I was just banded and I'm recovering at home. I certainly will not tell anyone about my procedure, as it's really not their business. I've made a very personal decision and it does not need to be shared unless I feel I want to share it. My job is very social with loads of entertaining and I'll have to be creative at lunches, functions etc. I'm looking forward to fititng in to the perfect suit....as I love fashion......and some lucky women will be getting the clothes that no longer fit me.........
  19. I use 1/2 cup of prune juice 3x's a day....worked for me.
  20. Sybaritic01

    Question (a bit TMI!)

Same thing with me......DR said make sure you are drinking 1.5litres per day of water.......if you are.....it could also be vitamins (that's what it was with me)
