are there any runners out there?
enjoyinglife replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know that I would consider myself a runner, but I try to run 4 to 6 miles a week. I have also run three 5K races so far this year. My training plan was pretty simple: put one foot in front of the other, repeat at a slightly faster pace. I let my body dictate how far I ran on each training run. Before I knew it, I was able to run for 3 miles at a time. (Something I hadn't done in 14 years) I also bought a subscription to runner's world magazine. I have never tried the couch to 5K, but that seems like a logical place to start. -
LOL! You just summed up how I have been feeling lately. It seems almost everyone in my circle of co-workers, friends, and family have become WLS experts. My doctor and my NUT both agree that I have lost what I should have (and then some), but they don't think that my goals of loosing more are unrealistic or unhealty. Great topic!

please tell me the truth

Yes you will. When they start selling a 4 bite pizza, then I will start eating them again. You may find that your tastes change. I tried pizza twice now and it just does not interest me. I can say the same for hamburgers, pork chops, chicken, steak, and tuna. I could eat 2 jars of pickles a day if I let myself, and I could eat Wendy's chili all day long. -
Best Wishes!!!

What fitness related EVENT are you training/preparing for?
enjoyinglife replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
My goal back in January was to run five 5k races before December. I have run three so far. I am also going zip-lining in August, and sky-diving in September. -
Nothing. I couldn't be more happy with where I am at.

what does it feel like when food gets stuck?
enjoyinglife replied to rescuesu63's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It feels like someone is stepping on my throat with their foot. It is a horrible feeling that can last for hours and hours, during which time you just want to throw up. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. The thought of getting that feeling again, has kept me from eating things I should not, eating too much at a time, or eating too fast. -
Your Weight Matters (YWM2014) Conference in September - Are you going?

How long after surgery were u allowed to exercise (besides walk)
enjoyinglife replied to mi75's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was cleared to lift more than ten pounds after ten weeks post-op. I have been hitting the gym hard ever since. -
I have been hitting the gym hard since being cleared to workout at the ten week post-op mark. I try to eat or drink 15 to 20 grams of Protein 20 to 30 minutes before working out. (cardio or weights) I try to eat or drink another 15 to 20 grams of protein within 45 minutes after my workout. I can't back this up with any scientific research, I am simply sharing my routine with you. I think it is great that you are being active and walking. Keep it up. I wouldn't start with the weights until being cleared to do so. I was on a strict 10 pound lifting restriction for the first ten weeks. (That doesn't mean I didn't keep a set of 5lb dumbells around to use at my house.) Keep trying different things and after a few weeks you will find what does or doesn't work for you. Keep up the great work!!! Best Wishes!!
