So I'm reading a lot of people are eating all these different kinds of foods (carbs) and what seems like large amounts of them. I'm still only able to eat two ounces and I weigh every meal to make sure it's two ounces. Also I'm still restricted to lean ground Turkey/ hambuger; cooked veggies and dairy. Still not been cleared to have chicken and def no carbs! What is everyone elses diet like right now?

Hey August surgery group! I've been a little mia for a while and I've really missed reading everyone's updates. I had a really bad complication about a month ago and ended up in the hospital. A while ago I had posted that I had got sick a couple times, dry heaving; nausea and shaking. For almost two weeks I couldn't keep food or even water down. I was taken to the ER and had a cat scan with barium and contrast (yuck and contrast made me throw up!) Turns out the opening of my pouch was closing up. I had two endoscopes done, multiple IV's before the doctor ordered a "pick line" which is an IV/place to draw blood/feeding tube that at is surgically implanted in your arm! The doc said that the opening of my pouch was closing up and it had closed up so much that you couldn't put the point of a pen cap through the opening!! After spending a week in the hospital I had gone through several bags of IV fuild, eight bags of potassium and three huge bags of something that was called nourishment (made up of vitamins, minerals and other stuff). For awhile I was so scared to eat or drink for fear that I would get sick and be in that horriable pain again... Well almost a month later I am able to eat and drink with no problems! So to my fellow August Surgery mates I'll be posting and reading! Yea!! :-)

So some of you may have read I got really sick and have been nauseous for over a week and have been in pain. The doc at first thought it was low blood sugar then I got worse. Now they are saying the opening of my new stomach is closing and needs to be stretched asap! Also it can take more than once to make it open back up. So to do this they will need to do an endoscope. I wish they told me this could happen. I'm almost two months out and somewhat wishing I didn't do this surgery...

    How about some NSVs!?!?

My promise ring my husband gave me back our high school days fits again! It's still a little snug but it's the closest I 've had to wearing on my ring finger and not my pinky! :-) My husband looked so surprised when he saw it on my finger. I got a little teary eyed because he kissed my hand with the promise ring on it. <3<3<3<3<3

I had my surgery August 15th. I haven't had any complications so far. The only thing I have experienced is getting really sick, I got extremly nauseous , started dry heaving and sweating uncontrollably. I called my doctor becasue it's been three days since this has happened and he said it sounds like low blood sugar and when I feel like this to sip on some apple juice , hard candy or glucose tablets. I just find this so strange as I wasn't diabetic before my surgery and also I have gone a day without eating before. Since this has happened I still feel nauseous and I really don't want to eat but am forcing some food down...blah! On a good note my incisions are seeming to heal nicely. I've been using silicon scar pads and vitamin E oil. I have been getting some compliments about looking like I've lost weight especially in my face and I do notice it in some of my clothes but as I'm sure we all can agree on the weight isn't coming off were I want it lol!
  17. The other day I went to the street fair and I hadn't eaten(this is okay with my doctor) all day but had been sipping on water. All of a sudden I get hit with really really really bad nausea, I started dry heaving and was sweating uncontrollably! This lasted for awhile and I had to have someone come pick me up because i wasnt able to drive home. I'm a little under two months out of rny and I was wondering I'd this has happend to anyone? It's been a few days since this happened and I still don't feel that great :-(

Does anyone know of and where I can purchase a portable food scale? I'm wanting something small, discrete and durable.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Today is one month from my surgery date and I'm considering this to be my first nsv and that is I actually weight the same as what is says on my drivers license. May sound silly but I haven't been this weight in years!

    Depression ?

I'm two weeks out and I'm feeling so down and crappy. I'm second guessing what I've done by having had this surgery. My mind is telling me I want something to eat even though I know I get really bad abdominal cramping/pain even with water!!! I cried today and feel bad. I'm trying to get out of the house but I'm always by myself and feel like I'm bugging my husband when he gets home. I am hoping there are some people in San Diego that are going through this too and might need/want a work out buddy.
  22. My doctor was very happy with my progress so far and said that I can start exercising and driving now. Very happy about the driving part because my husbands driving scares the crap out of me! Does anybody have recommendations on the first soft foods to try such as yogurt, soup, or cheeses? I'm a little worried about how my stomach is going to react but also really excited to eat food! How were some of anyone else's first soft food experiences?

    Terrified of hair loss

I was told by my doctors office that you will experience hair loss due to lack of protein and vitamins. Your hair will grow back but not to use harsh chemicals that are found in hair dyes. Also biotein is good for your hair.
