  1. I have to agree with Chelly. I would wait until Feb. I frequent the Disney parks a lot and I'll be honest, there's not a ton of foods that I could eat as my pouch is pretty sensitive (even at 9 months out) and the food is usually on a line, drying out from the lights, microwave action. Also, when my husband and I stay on grounds, they have pretty constant transportation, so stocking your fridge in your room will give you the food you can e at and a nice little breather from the park, then when you're done, hop back on the bus, boat or monorail and go back to the parks! Either way, have fun!

    Sick feeling

I had a similar issue after the surgery and started to develop hypoglycemia. If you're sugar is getting low, you can take a glucose tab. They're chewable, but I just let it melt when I was on liquid phase. I'm almost 6 months out now and don't seem to have too many episodes at all now. I find adding a small amount of a banana blended into my shake helps too. Good luck!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Fitting into a seat on the plane with extra room...I can't remember the last time I flew and the dang arm rests didn't get pushed up due to my hips and thighs. I musta looked like an idiot next to this old lady this morning just smiling away! Lol!

    November 2013 Post Op

Surgery was Nov 25th for me. I'm down 70 lbs. I hit a couple bumps in the road recently that landed me in the hospital for 21 days so I have taken a few steps back and reverted back to a liquid diet and had to stop my exercise routine. Hoping to catch back up to all the November surgeries and actually looking forward to going back to work lol! I'm going on a flight tomorrow, excited to see how well I fit, usually I'm nervous that it's going to be a tight squeeze!
  7. You most likely will crave foods you previously ate. I was craving mac n cheese, but like someone else said, it depends on what your stomach will tolerate and only being 5 months out, I refuse to eat any type of pasta lol so I decided to make my own with quinoa as a macaroni substitute, low fat cheese, cream cheese and ground lean beef. Obviously this isn't the BEST food option, but it hit the spot and was PACKED with protein. And absolutely no problem for the input, that's what we're here for, support!
  8. Most of these foods seem like they can be altered to fit your nutritional needs after surgery. I did the nacho thing with taco seasoning and actually just crumbled a plain rice cake over the top for the crunch. All approved by my nutritionist. If u want more of a tortilla chip, is there a gluten free option? I haven't really looked as I've stayed away from chips altogether. Chili was allowed after 3-4 weeks for me as one of my soft food/puree options! I put "healthy" and protein packed tweaks on all old recipes and absolutely LOVE trying out new recipes I find here or interest that my family loves. Best of luck! It's truly a fun journey if you make it that way!

    NEED TPN

No worries, I'm on the mend! Honestly it took about 7 days before I started to feel better. Hope yours goes alot quicker! I needed alot of other things too, so that could have been a major factor too. Make sure you get out of bed and walk. I lost alot of surface feeling in my legs and they said that was a result of the TPN. Walking WILL help! Hope you feel better soon!

    NEED TPN

No problem! I just went through it and was scared crapless, didn't know what to expect. The PICC line can stay in for up to a year. The bad news is they do not like it to get wet, trust me, I got mine wet a couple times lol. The covers they give you to take a shower don't work so well, so you'll likely be resorting to "sponge baths". If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or ask here. They're threatening me with the TPN again because I'm still not eating. I had a really bad case of gastritis and a really large ulcer, I don't have any desire to eat, let alone the fear of eating!

    NEED TPN

I had surgery November 25, 2013, so only a few days different. I just got out of the hospital and was placed on TPN for 21 days due to not eating. It was 'round the clock nutrition to say the least. Be prepared, they will have to insert a PICC line as the minerals are too harsh on the veins, but if you haven't ever had one, don't worry, they're not bad at all!

    everything hurts my tummy

I agree with everyone here, call your doctor! I am having the exact same problem and just did an 8 day stay in the hospital. I do not have a gallbladder so I don't know what that would be like post op, but they did find a hernia and ulcers! Get checked, I know how miserable this can be. Good luck!
  15. I would question the same thing except for the fact that I have not been able to eat more than 4 oz at any time since surgery, and that's on a good day. Also I had to have an EGD before the surgery to determine if I had any issues, like ulcers and hernias. And yea, you could say the dr missed it except it was the same dr performing the tests yesterday as before the surgery. The only thing I can suspect is that I may have done it after attempting to complete a fitness test for work. I had been cleared for all physical activity before attempting it, but I hit my stomach pretty hard. I don't know, that's just my idea.
  16. So as I type this I am on day 2 of being in the hospital. I can't consume anything by mouth without vomiting for the past week. I had surgery Nov 25, 2013 and minus a few typical bumps in the road at the very beginning, I have been doing great. Now they have no idea what's wrong. anyone else experience anything similar?
  17. So the results are in. Since surgery I have developed an ulcer, hiatal hernia and gastritis. Can't even hold down the medications so I am still in the hospital. Even though I have followed all the rules to a T it's important to remember to follow the rules and treat your pouch carefully! I'd hate to know how much worse this could be if I hadn't!
  18. Thanks guys! They're concerned it's ulcers. So another night in the hospital and more tests tomorrow it is! Can't wait to start losing the weight that's been pumped into me over the past 2-3 days! It's like being in recovery all over again! Lol
  19. Are you on pain meds? If so, the definitely contribute to constipation. I am not a dr by any means, and knowing from experience, always ask your doctor if you are concerned, but to me, it sounds like the pain is from being constipated. I get sharp pains alot in my lower abdomen when I'm constipated. I get so frustrated and try to push and the pain just gets worse. My dr recommended 2 to 3 capsules of colace per day, ask yours tomorrow. (Only use 3 in an extreme case and stay close to the bathroom) hope you get it resolved soon! Good luck!

    Hiccups

Has anyone else seemed to experience chronic hiccups? I get them EVERYDAY for very lengthy periods. I brought it up to my nutritionist and surgeon and they just kind of ignore my claims. I wouldn't usually think anything of it b/c I've gotten hiccups VERY frequently since a kid, but they've definitely increased, are super annoying (to me and everyone around me) and are really starting to hurt.

    Wanna see what was removed?

I haven't started looking yet, but if you find a good one let me know as I am in the Tampa area. I'm still too soon out of surgery, but I can already tell I'm going to at least want my arms done!

    4 Days Post Op :(

I felt pretty much the same. I was pretty miserable the first 2 weeks, but I promise, it got better each day. I'm 1 month out and still don't do well after eating for about 30 mins, but I feel 100% the rest of the day. Keep your eye on the goal. It will get better and it will be completely worth it soon enough!!!! Just rest for now and get your protein in. For the water I used "true lemon", you can find it in the spice section of the grocery store and it made my water heavier and taste better.
  25. So this might be TMI, especially for the guys, but I'm having my first cycle since having surgery in Nov. I'm in so much pain, I can't get out of bed. I don't have PCOS and yes, I've had cramps but never this bad. I'm in pain almost everywhere in my body, extremely fatigued and almost feel like my blood sugar is low (shaky to the point where it feels like you are going to crawl out of your own skin). I've been doing ok keeping up with my fluids and protein this week so I really don't know what is going on. Has this happened to anyone else? It just doesn't seem normal to me as I've had bad cramps with all my cycles.
