    Female issues with RNY?

I'm afraid of the weight gain with b/c. I was on it since I was 16 because of my periods. So I'm now completely lost as far as bc goes. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant but now we're obviously waiting the 18 months.

    Female issues with RNY?

Thanx guys! At least I know it seems normal. Although, I'd almost rather have the surgery again than these cramps. (Going on day 4). I've pretty much been stationary on a heating pad except when I'm out walking, which kind of helps too, until you stop lol. I'm now starting to worry about the "very very fertile" thing now music! Lol oh well, poor husband!

    Time off work

Ha! I'd think just gettin in out of the truck is alot of work!!! Despite the fact my job requires alot of running, now I feel like a baby taking so much time off! Lol but that is a good idea about the belly band!

Where in FL, anywhere near Tampa?

    Time off work

I'm still out after 3 weeks and will likely be out for another 5 weeks...it gets really boring, but I guess it's nice to be able to get on a set schedule with eating and cooking. I'm out of work for so long because I have a very physically demanding job, not because of complications, which I'm happy for!

    This is getting old!

I haven't tried it yet as today wss my first day on semi-solid food, but I had an appt with my nutritionist today that set up a full menu for me. She suggested that I marinate my pork and chicken breasts in orange juice, papaya or pineapple juice overnight to keep it moist for eating after cooked. Hoping you can try it and see if it works! Good luck

    This is getting old!

I know it sounds odd, but my nutritionist recommended a teaspoonful of meat tenderizer to help with food that might get stuck...I haven't had to use it yet, but it may help.

    Scared! Here's My Story...

I think with your listed complications you do need to seek a second opinion ASAP!...however, I had a similar experience with the bowels. Although, I didn't have the complications. When I talked to my dr he explained that there can be a moderate amount of blood in your stool for a little while. He reminded me of all the work he did inside the stomach and intestinal wall. Obviously, if it is still actively bleeding that is a problem, but he explained the bowels is really the only way to expel the excess or remaining blood. And there is likely to be more blood than stool because of the lack of food intake. I hope everything works out well for you and you're okay!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Not needing as much lotion to cover all my square footage! :-) lol

    November 2013 Post Op

The test has nothing to do with the surgery, it's a requirement through work. If you're out for more than 14 days, you have to prove you're "fit for duty". My fluids and protein vary day to day as well. I haven't gotten in more than 40g of protein yet, but I'm still on liquids for another week. Fluid I haven't gotten about 50 ounces...as hard as I've tried, I just can't seem to get enough in...

    November 2013 Post Op

So I'm just looking for a little insight. I haven't been allowed to return to work due to my protein and fluid intake. Well, because I've been out of work for more than 2 weeks, I have to complete a physical fitness test that consists of alot of running and heavy lifting. Any idea on when I might be cleared to run this? Just getting bored at home lol and almost looking forward to going back. I had surgery on November 25th.

Hmmm my surgeon doesn't have a requirement for calories. I would be more focused on protein and fluid...I focus more on fluid because I know I don't want to be dehydrated, I feel miserable when I am. Just try your hardest, the calories and protein will increase when we move to puree and soft foods. Keep tryin, it'll be worth it!

    November 2013 Post Op

I went for a 1 week follow up today and I'm down 17lbs in 8 days! However, I'm still on clear liquids for another week before I can progress to full liquids. Any suggestions for protein, I can't seem to stomach anything! I've tried about 30 different varieties and flavors and I hate them all...I feel like I've cheated by adding unsweetened almond milk to them to try and make em more palatable. I've also tried a smidge of ff cottage cheese. Is this bad? At most I've gotten in 20g of protein with just the shakes in one day :-/

Anybody else still on a post-op liquid diet?I haven't even come close to fluid goals let alone protein goals. I feel so sick and I think it's bc I'm not getting enough in. I was able to get my first protein shake in today at 15g. I'm almost a week out of surgery. Any suggestions?

    November 2013 Post Op

I'm so thankful for this forum. I'm 3 days post op and wondering if this was worth it. Unfortunately my pain management was never really under control due to the fact everything that was prescribed was an IM injection and the first time the nurse gave it to me, She got me in the knee! Already being in enough pain I refused the morphine all together. Now that I'm finally on oral pain medication, I think it's getting better, but I'm having a rough start!

    November surgeries?

That's great!! One of the main reasons, besides the obvious, that I am having this surgery is it's success rate at decreasing the frequencies of migraines. For the past year and a half I have had a migraine anywhere from 5 to 7 times a week!! UGH. Here I am, 12 hours from surgery and had to take an imitrex injection about 2 hours ago! Maybe I can start taking the pills again after the surgery!!

    November surgeries?

November 25th here for RNY! I have a 6 month supervised diet and last appt is next week. Couldn't be more excited. The only thing I'm nervous about is the ins approval...I'm so impatient when it comes to getting a yes or no. Good luck to everyone!!
  20. I have a tentative surgery date of Nov. 25th. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. More nervous about getting an approval more than anything else. I have to do a six month dr supervised diet and I have been following it very strictly, however, I have managed to put on 1 lb every month! Any one have experience with Humana? I'm just hoping and praying for approval!
