    Too sweet protein :(

I hadn't thought of that!! I didn't want to give up protein, and considering it will be hard getting stuff in I didn't want to make it harder by diluting it, but your half n half idea sounds great!! Thanks!!

  7. Surely someone has asked this before but I can't find anything. I don't want to go crazy buying a bunch of stuff I don't need and won't use but I want to be prepared with the things I deff WILL need post-op. Can you all help a girl out by posting what is was you felt you couldn't have lived without post-op? What I already have: Small bowls salad plate (small) Water bottle shake mixer Microwave bacon cooker (thinking ahead lol) Freezer bowls for storing leftovers so I don't constantly have to cook (thinking ahead again lol... no broth freezing will be done lol) medic alert bracelet what I know I still need to get: PPI (like prilosec) liquid or chewable vits (gonna ask my office which they recommend b4 I buy) Gas X Kinda trying to go with a less is more attitude but want to make sure I have what I'll NEED. Any advice appreciated

    Must haves for post op?

I'm planning to use unflavored unjury in my water and use the unjury, water and SF flavoring to make popsicles. All in an effort to get my Protein AND water in at the same time. Thought I'd share my plan in case u wanted to do the same.

    Must haves for post op?

10 days? WOW!! what do you do? I currently work in the deli of a grocery store but I'm working to be moved to a cashier position. I know its really optimistic but I'm hoping to be back to work in 2 weeks. I figure if I can work while feeling like my spine is in a vice and I have 3 cinder blocks sitting on my spine (I hurt my back 1.5 weeks ago) with all the lifting, bending and twisting rquired in the deli, that I can handle working with a sore tummy (I've had laproscopic surgery b4 so I have a fair idea of what to expect) @ the register- just gotta get my doc to release me lol. I want moved to the register because I will be able to go back to work sooner, be able to have water right next to me, a fraction of the lifting (currently I left 20+ pounds at least 50 times a shift), etc. I just think it'd be so much easier on my body.. esp when I first go back to work!

    Indiana Anyone?

Yup. I was actually calling to get my class date. I was told it'd prob be Monday before I got a surgery date but figure they prob only do the classes 2-3 times a month and they schedule them so its not like they find an opening persay like with the surgery. Either there is a class scheduled that hasn't been filled or there isn't. So, I was calling about the class. When they called me back they mentioned the surgery date on the message (not the actual date but just that they were calling to schedule a surgery date). I wonder if classes are surgeon specific like the orientations were??

    Indiana Anyone?

Same here. They called me today (I called them first.. I'm pretty impatient lol) but I was at work and didn't get home till after they were closed. Monday I work till 3 so I'll have to rush home (I work out of town) and try to catch them b4 they leave for the day. *fingers crossed*!!

    Indiana Anyone?

I won't see my surgeon again until surgery day. If I didn't work a friggin day today I could have called them back and got my date today, but by the time I got the message they were closed I work all morning monday, till 3, so I'll have to rush home (30 min trip) and try to catch them before they close on Monday and hopefully I will get a date then.

    Indiana Anyone?

Small world, lol. My testing is the 26th too. Different facility I believe tho so I'm afraid I'm no help on your question. I won't even be seeing the doc that day.
  17. Hubby and I currently use condoms. Right now I have the back-up of my body not ovulating 90+% of the time, so if one breaks its not a HUGE concern. However, with the known tendency for increased fertility post-op I think it best to begin using a "formal" birth control. So, my question is WHEN should I start the new BC? I tend to think asap so I can feel it out and see if it is right for me BEFORE I hit my body with the physical trama of the surgery. Yet, I also consider the higher risks of blood clots and the fact that any antibiotics they give will mute the BC a good argument for waiting until after... thoughts?

    Birth Control suggestions?

I have no suggestions lol, BC and I don't get along The Mirena was a nightmare from day one (migraines every single day, sharp pains, esp sharp pains during the big O... I STILL get pain during O on occasion 2.5 years after its removal). BCPs aren't and option post-op but I can't even use then now because they make my flow reach a near hemmorage level. I'm thinking about trying the nuva ring. I like that its not something I have to suffer with if it makes me miserable (like with the shot it takes time to leave your system, with the implant you have to get it removed, etc.) since hormonal BC tends to create issues for me. I thought about just sticking with condoms per usual BUT post-op I may not have the back-up of a naturally difficult to impregnate body (not impossible, but difficult), so if one breaks it could equal and unplanned pregnancy long before its recommended. Also, I have used NFP (natural family planning- NOT the "calendar method") for years so I don't think putting it in would be that difficult. My personal advise is pick something that is easily reversible just in case the side effects are too much to bear... but not all women are as sentitive as I am.

No, I live 2.5-3 hours south of Indy So for me any appointment is an all day endeavor lol. Still waiting to hear about when my tests will be.

    Indiana Anyone?

Awesome! I was beginning to think nobody on here was going to IU since everyone on this thread mentioned other places. They haven't told me what all I have to do as far as testing... what did you have to do? Have you done your class yet?

    Indiana Anyone?

Me I am going to IU North Bariatric. My Doctor is Daniel McKenna. I was approved for surgery last week, but I don't have a surgery date yet. I have to go through my pre-op class and testing before I get my date.
