I hadn't had a period in about 4 months. I had surgery and I got it last week. Total bummer! It could be a coincidence and nothing to do with the surgery, but I haven't had a period like this in quite a while. -
Had my surgery in 08 and have gained some weight back since i have been going through severe depression
lisalisalisa replied to Bren's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Bren. Depression is brutal. I had lost 132 pounds on my own and but a lot of it back on over depression. Please make sure that you are getting help for that so that you can take care of yourself. It's extremely difficult to do well on a diet when you feel that way. I hope you are feeling better soon! -
Ahhhhh on this liquid diet!
lisalisalisa replied to poisonedsweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really a mental thing. Focusing on the prize is what gets me through! Feel free to come on here and complain and whine in the meanwhile. God knows I sure did lol. Good luck! It is really, really worth it! I'm only 3 weeks out and I haven't regretted this for a second yet. -
Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheated on liquid diet!
lisalisalisa replied to SueC1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are starving are you having enough protein shakes? I wasn't starving at all because they were enough to satisfy my hunger, I just wanted to eat because my mouth wasn't happy lol. I didn't cheat because I didn't want to risk him opening me up and finding a liver that was too big to proceed and closing me back up. I was so afraid of that it kept me honest lol. You will probably be ok but I wouldn't do it again. Especially not carbs. -

I've had stomach viruses where I really only had an upset stomach. If you arent having any other problems hopefully it will go away in a few days! I think everything is going to feel different for me. I hope you feel better soon, nausea just sucks. -
I laughed because I'd normally eat a large taco and fries and I had half of a small taco. I really like this not being able to eat a lot. It's awesome! I just wish I could stay not hungry forever. That's the best!

lisalisalisa replied to stephjoysm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This may be a stupid question but are you sure you dont have a bug? I'm just wondering because everything for me, feeling full etc feels so different than it used to that I would think a stomach virus would feel weird too! -
My weight loss is slowing down, im in 4th week post op. iwhy?
lisalisalisa replied to Darlene55's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doc told me to do 5 meals a day so I've been doing 2 shakes a day sometimes 3 and two meals that are more like snacks but make me full...i.e. some yogurt or low fat cottage cheese type things. That way has been working. It's hard to eat 5 meals a day when you are not hungry but as I am getting used to it it's getting easier. With only 3 meals a day it would be awful hard to get in enough of anything. Good luck! -
cheese enchiladas are my favorite. I forget we eat so little that it's not as bad as I am thinking. Thanks.

were you able to handle lactose after surgery?
lisalisalisa replied to bloreorbust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm drinking protein shakes with skim milk and low fat cottage cheese with no problem at all. Try it, just start small if you are worried. -
how is there enough time in the day to get all these fluids in?
lisalisalisa replied to bloreorbust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, those shakes totally count towards your liquid count! So does the jello and broth. -
Have you talked to your doctor about this? After six months it seems like you should be able to eat more than that. I am only about 3 weeks and I can eat more than you. I'd check to make sure you are getting enough and stay healthy. Good luck!

Ahhhhh on this liquid diet!
lisalisalisa replied to poisonedsweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just focused on the fact that I wanted this surgery and this was the price of admission. It really helped. If it helps you get what you want it's not such a terrible sacrifice. I had to do it for ten days. It sucked mostly because I hated the shakes but found unjury.com and they weren't bad at all. Honestly, I know that "it's just the beginning thing" feels like it's all sacrifice forever now but that hasn't been the case for me. The liquid diet was tough and the first 5 days after surgery kind of sucked. I didn't have a lot of pain but I felt really yucky. Since then it hasn't been nearly as hard as I would have thought. When you aren't hungry you seriously don't want this stuff like you did before. It's so much easier than I thought it would be. Hang in there! -
Fluids/types of beverages
lisalisalisa replied to Grace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Juice is really high in sugar and can be bad in calories so if you do drink it, they recommend I dilute it 50% juice 50% water. Smoothies can also have a ton of sugar/calories. I freaked over drinking because I was a diet coke addict. I was more worried about giving up my pop than I was my food! I've developed a taste for ice water now which surprises me. When you go without those things you are used to for a while, new things taste better. I also use decaf tea..crystal light and crystal light lemonade. They taste strong now that I"m used to water though so I don't drink a lot of them. Watch out for vitamin water which can also contain too much sugar. -
Thanks everyone! Well, I tried a taco and it actually set very well with me. I had no problem at all. Of course I was only able to eat about 1/2 of a small taco but that's a good thing! The doctor told me to eat beef if that is what settles well. They do want you to get to eating food and not just shakes and cottage cheese lol. Anyway, the taco has been mine for about an hour and all is well. Yoo hoo! Mel3620, what mexican are you having? I love mexican food! So much of what I like is cheese and high fat though Just looking for ideas. Thanks!

Please let me know how the taco goes. Ground beef is the one meat I seem to be able to eat without issues. Chicken is a killer!

I dont know. I"m hoping it was an unusual case!

Is stress the problem?
lisalisalisa replied to ndquilter's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Any change in routine can shake up your body. Sooner or later you will break through it. Good luck! -
They are right, everyone is different and everyone has their own issues with their body. My butt is big now but ends up flat when I'm smaller. Think of it this way though, booty is in! People are getting implants to have big butts so you would be ahead of the game and smoking hot lol!

Wow you look awesome!!!! Good for you! That is inspiring for us all! -
have you tried the shakes at unjury.com? I had a horrible time with protein shakes until I found them. I was literally gagging trying to choke them down. I'm not sure what was worse the smell or the taste! Unjury.com I have gotten chocolate splendor (tastes a lot like chocolate milk - I mix it with skim milk). The chicken soup one isn't bad either. I highly recommend them. Also, I purchased a "blender bottle" from amazon. You wouldn't think it matters but the fact is, the better mixed the shake is the better it tastes. A lot of that horrid smell is because of undissolved powder (thanks to the GNC guy for telling me, turns out he was correct!). That little ball in the blender bottle makes all the difference. I now almost enjoy the shakes! That's a big change from dreading them.

When I had lost my weight I loved shopping! It took quite a while though to get myself to buy the things in misses. I would automatically be drawn to the styles in the big girls section. The clothing style is different and it takes a while to realize that you can wear them now! It's a lot of fun and I can't wait to get back there myself because I'm back in the world of extra large. Hopefully not for long. Enjoy shopping in misses, it's awesome!
