Last night I started with this pain in my lower left abdomen. I had been constipated so I figured it was gas. I've gone to the bathroom all day today but the pain is no better. Should I be concerned or could this still be gas?

Which ones have you tried and which are your favorites? The worst? I want to order some but need suggestions. Yes, I want high protein but I also need them edible please! Thanks!

Just HOW many pills do we have to take?
lisalisalisa replied to meyouus's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doctor told me to monitor my blood pressure at h one, if its high take the pills if not don't. If you don't have a blood pressure machine get one, they aren't expensive. Both the surgeon and my general doctor told me to monitor blood pressure after the surgery. -

Wow you guys take a lot of pills Lol. I take less than ever since my surgery. I'm not sure why you guys take over the counter vitamins but i was told to take the bariatric vitamin, chewable, four times a day and that it had all the vitamins i would need. Since surgery i no longer need my two blood pressure meds or my reflux meds at all. -
Protein shake yes or no
lisalisalisa replied to bb00024's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You really have to get your protein in or you will feel awful. They may not be a taste sensation but two a day got me this far and I'm feeling strong! -
Initial Consultation Tomorrow, 4 hour visit?
lisalisalisa replied to DeeMotionalEater's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
every doctor is different so its hard to say. I can tell you mine was long because of paperwork, medical history review. physical exam, they went through all my medications and discussed what i could and couldnt take. It took about three hours. I didnt eat anything the day of my visit because i knew theyd order fasting bloodwork and i wanted to go get it done that same day. -
It's worth it. The worrying about it is worse than the doing it

I quit so I could have this surgery but I really miss it. I hope I don't turn to smoking again in place of food.

Congrats!

Protein shake yes or no
lisalisalisa replied to bb00024's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shakes were part of fluids. I was given them straight through. They were the only thing I had for a while! They are an awesome source of protein without being rough on our stomachs. If you have no energy up the protein for sure. Make that shake! -
not losing weight!im gaining!
lisalisalisa replied to Mommy3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. This is either water gain or your scale may need new batteries. Those fluctuations are too big, especially if you didn't make a huge food change! -
It will get better, honest. I felt exhausted too. All of a sudden you snap back. Make sure that you are getting in your protein and vitamins
-
it varies. General rule is if you are stalled lay off the sugar alcohols
-
Sugar alcohols were ok in moderation but wow can they stall weight loss. Bummer
-
I'm stuck too but I know from previous weight loss experience, it happens. Atkins said a stall wasn't a stall until 4 weeks. My previous pattern was to stall three weeks and drop it all the fourth week. Frustrating but it's a pattern I had in the past. I was hoping this would have me losing weight faster and that I wouldn't stall like this but I guess I am going to!

19 days post op...weird question!
lisalisalisa replied to heygirl_143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am way more sensitive to both taste and smell. It's not just you! I cant stand water from a water bottle anymore because I swear I now taste the plastic lol. -
I ordered some online last night Vicki. Anyone have trouble with protein bars stalling them? I know sugar alcohols can be bad news from being a professional Atkins dieter lol.

I thought those days are over but here I am fighting with food again. I really need to up my calories to 1000 a day and my Protein to 60-80 but I'm still barely making 800 calories and 60-80 protein. I drink two Protein shakes a day so that's what is currently helping me get that high. The problem is, either it tastes bad or the texture is bothering me. Having to chew the hell out of everything is making me notice texture things that I never noticed before and it's grossing me out. The only things that taste ok to me don't have protein and I NEED the protein. The shakes are bugging me because absolutely everything tastes too sweet now. If I could just eat carbs I'd be ok but I can't. At first nothing bothered me to eat and now the only thing I enjoy is a refreshing fudgsicle. Everything else is work. I may have to go to nothing but shakes for a while, I dont know. One of my favorites was always shrimp. Wow, when you have to chew things to a pulp shrimp has some really gross texture properties lol. I could barely choke them down. I cant tolerate tacos even though I could before because they stick. Everything sticks except liquids which are fine. I'm not regretting having the surgery at all. I haven't regretted it for a minute but I have to figure out how I can eat! I'm scared to try Pasta. Can you guys tolerate it?
-
I'm 5 weeks and 5 days out. I hope you feel better Mz Shay!
-
I don't know why but for some reason, my pouch is not tolerating things very well today at all. About the only thing that it does like is a protein shake. It even complained about yogurt! I have had almost no problems at all with eating and have been very lucky. I don't know, maybe I pushed it too far too fast? At any rate, did anyone else have this problem and if so, how long did it take for it to calm down? Everything I eat today feels like I'm trying to shove a ping pong ball through a balloon!
-
Wow! What a gigantic difference in gas since I started taking a daily probiotic! The gas is so much better! I feel almost like a human again lol. I'm so glad I found that tip thanks to Google
-
I slept all the time too. For like three weeks after I HAD to take a long afternoon nap, like 3 hours. I'm fine now. Our bodies just needed that rest to heal.
-
a few weeks. When the gas was really getting to me.

What Did I Do? Dumping On Fat?
lisalisalisa replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Don't hate yourself, just use this experience to make yourself better. You probably wont run out and do that again real soon! Live, learn and move on from it! Hope you feel better. -
I had gastric bypass and yep, food gets stuck if you eat too fast or don't chew well or, if you eat the wrong thing.
