I am four years out. Down about 150 pounds. I am 5'8" - about 170. I've heard the wives tales about "stretching" your pouch from carbonated drinks and eating too much. At least for me that's a bunch of horse crap.
I drink diet sofas and beer and my stomach is about the same size as it was six months out of surgery.
Yes your pouch will expand - but that's part of the normal healing process.
I cant even come close to eating the amour of food I used to eat. Maybe a 10th of the volume - even now.
Gastric bypass enabled my life - it didn't destroy it. I enjoy craft beers. It only takes one or two to knock me on my butt - but I really enjoy it.
In fact I had a terrible case of constipation for almost two years before I started drinking beer. I had to give myself enemas or end up with terrible intestinal pain. If I drink a few beers a week I go to the bathroom normally.
We all suffered greatly before, during and after surgery. LIVE your LIFE. You've earned it.
