  1. Have you had a massage post surgery? How do you feel about them? Share your thoughts and experiences if you would. I had a really bad experience with a massage a couple years ago after going to a chiropractor when my back went out. It was incredibly painful and I cried A LOT. However, I feel now like I may be ready to try again, and be more assertive about how I want to be touched (gently!).

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I'm still holding out hope of making it to that 100lbs lost mark by end of year. I'm 20lbs away, so it seems unlikely but I bet I might at least get close. On another note, I'm fitting into some 1x stuff now. I was a 4x 4 months ago. Pretty incredible.

    August Post Ops

I'm down exactly 50 since surgery, and 80 for the year. Not as fast as I had hoped and some manage. However, my checkup yesterday really put it into perspective. With my body fat/muscle percentages, I have lost 48lbs of fat. Just fat. And gone from 72 BMI to a 58. That at least makes me feel better progress.

Did you have one last hurrah?

My preop diet lol. It was atkins induction style, which is heaven for me. I ate all the meat, cheese, and deviled eggs I could handle. Cheese is still my nemesis. I will make it an entire meal or two if it is in the house.

    Unexpected aches and pains

All right. I'll mention it at my appointment today. I thought I might be able to beat the clock having surgery now, but maybe not.
  6. I figured I'd come to the 20somethings group (I'm 28) with this one. Since surgery and returning to work, I have noticed my thighs and hips are very stiff and I often cannot stand up straight right away without doing a bit of stretching first. And my hips kind of ache sometimes. I feel like I'm too young to have arthritis. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? As a caveat, I exercise just by walking for 30-45mins several times a week. That's it so far.

    Not losing lbs

I stalled at 2 weeks out for about 10 days. Same deal, my body changed a lot during that time. Same deal with my latest stall of 5 weeks starting at 2.5mos post op. Hang in there!

Please tell me what you eat?

Here's a sample: Breakfast: 1 hardboiled egg and a couple strawberries/or a 1/3 cup oatmeal with Protein drink mixed in (which ends up making it more like 1/2 cup in volume)/or a Protein shake Snack: 1/3 cup low fat cottage cheese/or rest of protein shake from Breakfast Lunch: 1/3 cup tuna salad with 4-5 whole grain crackers, or leftover from dinner the night before but still only about 1/3 to 1/2 cup Snack: 2oz low fat cheese/ or 1/4 cup nuts and a little dried fruit like apricots or raisins/or the rest of lunch if I couldn't finish it like when I get takeaway Dinner: 3oz meat and a little veggies like 1-2Tb worth. Snack: a glass of low fat milk, or some roasted sunflower/pumpkin seeds if I need something crunchy This usually puts me between 800-1000 calories, 50-80 carbs, and 70-80 protein. I eat every couple hours and in between I drink 16-24oz of Water.

    Female issues with RNY?

My first cycle after surgery was awful as well. Very tired and crampy, and so much blood I contemplated going to the doctor. Lasted about 10 days. Then it went away as if nothing ever happened. Like flipping a light switch. My second one was not as bad. Hope you get some rest and feel better. Take it easy.

    The Slow Losers Thread

I finally made it out of the 330s!!! It was a 5 week stall. Yesterday, 331. Today, 329! I hope this is the end of stalls for a few weeks. I really really do.

I hear you, mzshay. I've been stalled for a month, too. If I think about it too hard I start freaking out and thinking what I need to try to get out of it or whatever. Maybe it's normal at this stage. Whatever it is I'm sick of it messing with my head. Going to try to eat as balanced as I can, enjoy some veggies, some fruit, drink a protein shake if I can't get it all in, and stop stressing. This is so not easy.

    Gall Bladder

I come from a similar family. Thankfully, painkillers give me weird dreams and disturb my mind so I was more than willing to give them up once it was time.

    August Post Ops

Head hunger, head hunger, head hunger. And my brain tells me that hunger can only be sated with cheese. Apparently my brain is not with the program. This tummy doesn't have hunger anymore, not like it used to.

    What ya eating tonight?

Pineapple, coconut, spirulina, protein smoothie. Very good. I tried switching my meals around to having the heaviest in the morning and lightest at night. We'll see if it makes any difference.

    What ya eating tonight?

Turkey curry. Sadly it still tastes like turkey.

    Stalls!

We've all been through them, some longer than others. What have you done, if anything, that you feel helped you get past your stall? What advice were you given?
  23. So when I asked my dietician how many carbs I should be consuming in a day, I never got a straight answer. They have definite guidelines for protein, but not carbohydrates. So my question to my fellow RNYers: How many carbs do you average per day?

    Stalls!

I'm totally up for hearing that if that is what actually happens. I've been stuck for a month now thinking the same thing, but at only 3 months post op I have been starting to doubt it the past few days.

You know what, though, has your body changed a lot even with the slower weight loss? I seem to still be shrinking even though the scale isn't moving down.
