    MEN! GRRRRR (Sorry men)

I married a mama's boy who was raised to help around home and I wouldn't have it any other way. Do I have to remind him sometimes he has chores to do? Yes, but he will eventually do them without argument. And the little things like making his plate or fixing a cup of tea are totally worth it since they make him so happy. Little things make a big difference, and they must go both ways.

    August Surgery List complete

The pre-op diet has not been bad at all. I'm on atkins. There have been times when I really want to have something (pancakes!) "one last time", but that passes. I messed up once with a small piece of birthday cake, and that was it. And I am with you on no fluids after midnight. We get no water at all until the next day after surgery! I have no idea how to handle that yet. I have packing left to do and some cleaning, but I am torn between doing that and just going out and having fun and forgetting about chores lol. Rebel!

You're going to be waking up from surgery before you know it!

    August Surgery List complete

Oh wow the weekend is going to go super fast for you! Are you ready? I'm just starting to feel excited about it this past week. Maybe a little more excited about no work for 3 weeks lol. Last time I was off that long was about 7 years ago.

    August Surgery List complete

This is my last day of work for 3 weeks. Surgery Monday at 1pm. So excited!!!
  7. Oh my goodness I had no idea it would be this tough! It's my niece's 1st birthday party and I come from a family that is all about food. There is so much yummy stuff here! And I cannot eat a thing. Surgery is in just 1 week and I cannot risk not following the pre-op diet to shrink my liver. I actually had to step away while everyone is eating to take some deep breaths and stay away from temptation, and take a moment to pray. Wishing the best and lots of strength to my fellow rny friends; I know you all have been here.
  8. Btw, challenge #1 was lunch out with my coworkers. Piece of cake (ha!). This is like running over hot coals lol.
  9. I went to consent signing on Wednesday, and they told us post op we have 3 weeks on liquids. Im wondering what the time frame was for others?

    August Surgery List complete

Just did my consent signing and nutrition classes today. Pre-op diet officially starts tomorrow, but I started Sunday for good measure. It's just induction atkins so not so bad. It did hit me when I got home though that I am now less than a week and a half away from surgery. The panic feels like a hand around my throat. I don't know how I am going to sleep. Going to keep on praying.

    Is this normal?

I'm going through it, too. Anxiety, nightmares, irritability, and I am breaking down for what seems like no reason at the time. It's just a lot of rapid change. Hopefully it doesn't get too much worse after surgery.
  13. How soon after surgery could you drive? And for how long could you drive before you wore out? How soon after surgery did you feel comfortable traveling? (like something more than a couple hours away from the hospital) At what point did you feel comfortable having sex after surgery? When did you resume normal house cleaning work?
  14. I've only lost 30 pre-op, but notice the difference in how my clothes fit and such. I was never vert attuned to my weight before, but am sensitive to it now. Maybe those who see us also have the same range.

    Post-op Physical Restrictions

How much weight have you gained? Did you have any complications like bleeding? It could we water weight. But if you are really concerned that something doesn't seem right, call your surgeon's office and ask them.
  16. I'm with Cigna as well and got denied the first time. They needed a medical clearance from my PCP and I didn't understand what that was to ask. Basically I had to go have a physical and blood work again from my PCP so they could say "Yes, she can handle and needs surgery." Just keep on going. You will eventually make it through all the right hoops.

How long ago did you gave surgery, Cynthia?

    Post-op Physical Restrictions

Thank you all for the responses. I was having a hard time figuring out where to set some realistic expectations immediately following surgery. The surgeon's office can tell me all about food, but they can't help with this kind of stuff.
  19. I am 3 weeks away from surgery right now and although I don't feel consciously anxious about the surgery, it must be there because it is manifesting itself in other ways. I can't sleep. I feel so irritable. It's like all the little things that would normally be a minor nuisance are amplified. And they are keeping me awake in the middle of the night. My question to you all is did you feel the same at all at this stage? Did you find peace at all to finish mentally preparing for this? How did you do it?

    Anxiety ahead of surgery...

Thanks so much for the encouragement, everyone. I think it really is fear of the unknown, but it is so deep it is hard for me to see it. I know I am totally afraid of what I will be like, what ny body will be like, what my life will be like when I am a much smaller size. At the same time, I am excited because I have always wanted to know. So it is a confusing time I guess.

    One more for August 26th. w00t! w00t!
  22. Thanks everybody! They called bright and early this morning to schedule surgery for August 26th. Hopefully I have to deal with the office staff as little as possible from here on out. I just want this part of the process to be over with.
  23. I called insurance today to checkin and see if I had another approval waiting, and sure enough there it was! Of course, when I then called my surgeon's office they were cold and snotty again and told me they have to wait for the fax or letter to schedule. But oh well. The biggest presurgery hurdle I was worrying about is done. On another note, has anyone gone through the approval process with insurance and then switched surgeon/facility? Almost every time I talk to these people I think about doing just that, but am not sure how complicated that would be.

    BECOMING AN EATING DISORDER?

Really sorry to hear about needing to go to the hospital, but I am so glad you made this call and are going now before it goes any further. Good for you, and bless you and your health.

    BECOMING AN EATING DISORDER?

Did your nutritionist give you information on post-op diet or meal plans? If not, then like was earlier suggested, ensure or protein shakes would be good for now to get you back into processing food through your system. Take it slow and steady. Hopefully you can get to see your surgeon or doctor soon for further instruction. If not, then just keep on with the liquid nutrition for a few days, take your vitamins, and after a few days try adding a couple soft foods like cottage cheese or scrambled eggs, or pureed soup. Be gentle on your body and your self. You're not in the hospital yet, so just make a plan to see a doctor and start incorporating some nutritious foods.
