August Post Ops
bloreorbust replied to anniesmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your body only wants to sleep during the say instead of night, then stay up at night and work on getting your fluids in then. You have to work with what you have and getting your fluids in is so incredibly important. You should also see your surgeon/doctor about not being able to sleep with the pain and that you haven't had a BM in so long. Maybe you need stronger pain meds for now or you aren't taking enough of them. The no BM in 2.5 weeks is really concerning though. Please see your surgeon asap. -

Looks like I'm ok despite my mistake. Won't be doing that again. -

I did something really stupid last night and ate a piece of cheese. Yesterday was a bad food day and I was up late by myself. I didn't throw up, but also haven't had a bm yet today. Hoping it's not going to be a problem. I threw the rest of the cheese out so I can't make the same mistake again. -
When did your wound glue start to come off?
bloreorbust posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week post op and I see the glue is starting to deteriorate on a couple of my incisions. I can see the first coulple layes of skin at least are no longer connected by the glue. Is this ok or should I call my surgeon you think? Everything looks good so far, but the fear of infection or one of these things busting open is always in my mind. -
Cannot stand protein shakes any longer

I have 2 weeks left on liquids, and I've come to the place where I don't think I can stomach protein shakes any longer. What did you do when you came to this point? I'm not sure what else there is to do if I can't drink protein shakes right now. -
Cannot stand protein shakes any longer

I think I may go back to Premier. I had a chocolate one left and drank that after I came home and it went well. Vanilla doesn't taste good anymore. I knew I should have listened to everyone and not bought protein before surgery. Now I have three jugs of Nectar I can't stand. My surgeon's office was pushing it on us. -

I can't wait for soft foods. Two more weeks. The smell of protein shakes is starting to make me sick. I actually gave up on drinking them today for most of the day because I just couldn't handle any more. I really want to follow directions, but 3.5 weeks of protein shakes feels like torture. -
Wonton and pho broth were both on the list of things I could have on liquids stage and preop. Yeah they are high in sodium, but unless you have blood pressure issues it should be fine. This is a relatively short period of time, and you'll go to normal foods eventually and leave broth behind.

How much walking are you all doing? I'm doing about 15 minutes twice a day, but I feel like I could start doibg more. And frankly I'm bored lol. Car rides are still painful so I can't go far, and I don't have kids to take care of and my husband is self sufficient. I spent the first week having a Sons of Anarchy marathon, but there's only so many seasons ya know? -

If you're still able to get stuff down, then it may just be a matter of waiting out the nausea for now. Of course, you coukd always give your surgeon's office a call to be safe. I don't really have the full feeling either. Maybe it's because we're still on liquids and liquids just don't give that full feeling. I am hoping once it's time for soft foods the full feeling will kick in. -

Are you perhaps dehydrated? I was only nauseated immediately after surgery, and dizzy only from the pain meds. However, both of those are symptoms of dehydration. How are you doing on your Fluid intake? -

Anyone take EmergenC?
bloreorbust replied to bloreorbust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not buy protein shakes stuff until after surgery. Have some samples ready for when you first get home so you have nutrition, but don't buy large quantities. My tastes have changed a lot. Also, as soon as they let you, walk as much as you can. It will be slow and not far, but try every few hours or so. I'll tell you I was terrified right up until the moment the anesthesiologist knocked me out. Then when I woke up, I was so relieved it was over that I didn't care what was going on. -
Cold and flu season is coming up and I usually start taking a packet or 2 of EmergenC a day for prevention around this time. Does anyone else take this post surgery and have you had any trouble with it? It's basically a superdose of vitamin C, B vitamins, and zinc.

I'm 1 week post op today and put a couple teaspoons of sriracha in my beef broth today and it was awesome. Also tried hot chili powder in it last night and it went well. Everyone is different, but I have been asking the spicy food question to a few people I know and none yet have had a problem. I also see chili as a common meal on threads here.

How long did you wait to drive
bloreorbust replied to kparadisek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can barely handle riding so far, not sure how driving would go. All the breaking and acceleration makes me hurt and ache by the end of it. -

That looks a lot like the big one I have on my lower right, Mz Shay. It's the second biggest, but it takes the cake for the gnarliest looking wound lol. -

Darn it, you're right. No emergenC then :-(. Although, I wonder if I waited long enough if it would go flat...hmmm... -

How soon were you all able to start wearing a bra again? I tried the past couple days, at 4 days post op, and I thinj it has been causing me some unnecessary pain.
