    August Post Ops

I was wrong. Yesterday was my 1 month surgiversary. I guess I've lost concept of time during recovery. HW: 406 SW: 376 CW: 356 So 20lbs the first month. I can live with that. And I am officially at 50lvs total weight loss. Not bad.

    $55-K insurance

Isn't it crazy?! I saw mine processed a couple weeks ago and it was upwards of $100,000! Insurance settled it for $30,000. And I know for a fact self-pay patients where I went pay $28,000 (they told us in the seminar).

    OMF i am gonna die!

Definitely refuse it. I've seen this on a few threads before and it was also mentioned in the meetings at my surgeon's office. Tell them as a bariatric surgery patient you cannot drink the liquid they use, and that they must do blood glucose testing instead. If they for some reason won't listen, refer them to your surgeon.

I can't believe some of you get up to a half cup of food! My surgeon's office says no more than 1/3C forever. They are ok with increasing frequency of meals, but never size. There must be different pouch sizes that differ by practice.

Feeling sorry for myself. Not losing as quickly as I'd like. My body is changing. The way I sit and how my clothes fit (everything is getting baggy) are changing. But the number on the scale is just crawling along. I started out on surgery day at 376 and have only mage it down to 362 4 weeks later. Stupid fat. Ugh. Sorry everyone. I needed somewhere to throw my pity party. I'm also bleeding like a stuck pig.

The first week or two I had lots of dreams about food. Now those have been replaced with bad dreams of vatious sorts (which is not the norm for me). Last night I dreampt I had a huge fight with my husband and asked for a divorce. It was awful. I was so relieved when I woke up and he was there to reach out and touch. In other news, I now have baggy pants legs and butts, but my waist hasn't quite caught up to go down another size. I'm going to need butt implants lol.
  9. Mine came on time but it is extremely heavy. Shockingly heavy, actually. I'm going to wait a couple more days and see if it starts to ease up (I'm only 3 days in), but if it I still the same I will see a doctor.

    What ya eating tonight?

Egg salad on a few saltines. I wanted to eat the whole thing it was so good, but my pouch put the kibosh on that.

I haven't had trouble eating, but then I have a very strong ability to force myself. Sometimes I get to a point where I just don't want to put another thing in my mouth. Water included. It's true the food is still so little, but it takes soooo many bites to get there.
  12. What do you think? Has anyone done it? There's a 10-15lb weight restriction for lifting the first 6 weeks. However, if I used a 6lb or 8lb ball I think that might work. Your thoughts?

    Hey guys

I was just thinking I hadn't seen a post from either of you in some time. Here's what I have tried and did well with: Chili. Chili is awesome and you can put whatever you want in it. Turkey would be the best. Hot and sour soup (add some white flakey fish for protein). Hummus. Indian style lentils. Not sure what to tell you for drinks if you don't like sweet. I've been living on sugar free Hawaiian punch drops or packets mixed with my water, and milk. I don't know about you, but ever since I have been able to eat food I have wanted as much flavor and spices as I can get.

    How much can everyone eat?

I had my 3 week diet advancement class yesterday, and they told us we should be working our way to about 1/3 of a cup. That is right at my limit, too. As soon as I go a bite or two over that, I get the central chest pain twinges which is supposed to be the new full feeling. What was interesting was that they told us this should permanently be my portion size. No expanding up to 1C like some are told to over the first year. They said it was better to increase frequency of meals than size. Hadn't read that before.

Bowling at 4 Weeks Post Op?

Makes sense. I called my surgeon's office and they gave me a fat "NO" also. Guess I need to accept I just had surgery and take it easy.

I had my 3 week appointment today and am certainly disappointed that my number on the scale was only 12lbs under my surgery day weight. Afterall, I have a lot of weight to lose. However, the doctor was not concerned at all (he thinks I'm still carrying some of my 20+ pounds of water weight), my wounds are healing nicely, I can have some vegetables now, and I've already gone down a size. Hoping to get closer to my personal goal by my 100 day appointment in December. And OHMYGOODNESSIMSOHAPPY I DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK IN FOR 3 WHOLE MONTHS!
  17. I've seen examples in various threads, but would like to make one place to mark them all down and discuss. So would you mind sharing your favorite and most helpful/inspiring WLS book titles here?

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I can now fit both hands down my pants half way up my forearm. I should probably train myself not to do this at work.

    Help! Problems with my CPAP

If there's a whistling sound coming from the back, could the hose not be completelt pushed into the connection on the machine or could the hose have too much wear or a small leak?

Are you able to take larger sips over time? Is that normal? I have just been taking baby sips up until this morning since anything larger hurt. I made a mistake this morning and took too large of a sip. No pain. I've done it a few times since as I usually do throughout the day, and still no pain.
  21. Surgery was 8/26. I've lost 17lbs since, but have been stalled for the past 10 days or so while my body adjusts to all the changes. Can't wait to start seeing the pounds drop again. I've had no complications and am healing very well, so I really shouldn't complain.
