    Wondering about Restaurants

I went out at week 4 post op I didn't really want to but it was for my brother m laws birthday. They decided to go to Olive Garden (talk about carb central) I ordered off their "light" menu most placed have some type of menu like that. I got their herb crusted salmon with steamed broccoli. I ate about 4 bites and was done I had the left overs for 2 other meals. I can't say it was an enjoyable time though. See my family eat Pasta and other things I miss so bad it actually made me grumpy and I just didn't want to be there anymore. I get its your birthday but my advice to you is try to dodge restaurants for awhile. You are going to find out going out to eat is not so much of a treat anymore. Story the short version.

God bless you. Stay strong and just think when you come out of this and you are a down a ton of weight you will look back and KNOW it was worth it.
  10. I used to say regular Pepsi was my cocaine. I could drink 4-5 cans a day. I quit drinking it about 5 months before my surgery. I still crave it every day. I was a smoker and this November will be 3 years that I've been smoke free and yet I crave Pepsi more then a cigarette by far.
  11. I Kevin my name is Steve I'm actually from Racine, WI I had my gastric bypass July 16th recovery has been a little rough for me because I had to have emergency back surgery 2 weeks after my gastric bypass because when I woke up from my weight loss surgery my left leg was numb they found out my disc was super inflamed and enlarged and laying on the operating table made my back worse. I will say I'm down about 45lbs already since July 16th congrats on you being approved and good luck on your journey glad to see another fellow Wisconsinite.

    My fitness Pal

Thx the problem is it was avocado chicken salad that my wife made so I have no idea how much chicken or avocado was in the 1/2 cup I ate.

    My fitness Pal

I got a question about my fitness play. I've had it for a while but never really used it. Toddy I have shredded chicken mixed with avocado total of 1/2 cup. My question how do I know how much protein I just ate? I'm not good at this whole figuring out how much protein I ate.
  15. I had gastric bypass on July 16th and then an emergency back surgery August 4th. The reason I am posting this because I have no energy. I mean none. I can hardly walk from my living room down the hall and to my bedroom. I don't know what I am doing wrong, or what the problem is. People keep telling me I had 2 major surgeries almost 2 weeks apart and it's going to take time, but I'm sick of hearing that. Could that really be the reason? Or an I low on a vitamin? Am I not getting enough protein? I can't live my life like this. Tonight my family went out to celebrate my brother n laws birthday and I could barley keep my head off the table. Ugh.

    Energy

I don't think I'm at that much risk for a blood clot but ill look into it I just know home therapy is expensive.

    Energy

I have no balance combined with no energy it's just nuts how hard all this is. I'm supposed to be going back to work sep 10th but at this point I don't see that being possible.

    Energy

I'm walking but if I'm going any distance I need a walker and with the back surgery it is VERY hard to walk. The fact that I have a numb left leg and they cut through my stomach muscles for my gastric bypass and cut through my back muscles for my back surgery. I feel like every time I walk I have the chance to fall at any second.

    Things I will not miss...

I won't miss "man boobs" or blowing the crotch out of my pants or shorts. I won't miss my buddies asking me to do some physical activity and me making an excuse or just say "dude I'm too fat" I won't miss my 2yo boy wanting to play cars with me on the floor but every part of my body falling asleep from sitting on the floor. I won't miss not fitting in 80% of the cars made now a days. I won't miss not being able to ride rides at an amusement park. I won't miss not being able to run without feeling like I'm going to die. I won't miss getting into a boat and feeling like its going to sink like the titanic. I won't miss going to a drive through and ordering a bunch of food for myself but acting like I have a note of stuff to order for other people. "Did you want hot sauce with that" "umm hm ya know they didn't say"... I won't miss cutting the grass and feel like I'm going to die. I won't miss doing the fat person stretch on all my shirts before putting them on. I won't miss not drying my shirts because I didn't want them to shrink. I would say I won't miss not fitting in the bathtub but I'm 6'6 so that's still not going to happen. I won't miss the feeling that I always smell. Too name a few.
  21. I'm 4 weeks out and still worn out and tired but I had emergency back surgery 2 weeks after my gastric bypass so I'm trying to recover from 2 surgeries. It's super hard and exhausting but I'm sure it will get better for us.

    Depression ?

I've been depressed since day one post op I've even shed some tears and I haven't cried in years (mr tough guy) I've been so weak and tired after surgery I don't want to do anything because of how weak and tired I am. I just end up sitting in the house and during the week my wife works and my 2 year old goes to the baby sitters so I'm alone. the doctor gave me depression pills but I'm nervous to take them. I just pray this all gets better soon I'm 4 weeks out and thought by now I would be fine.
  23. Not to be gross but what are the symptoms besides not going? I'm always scared this will happen to me. I eat a lot of dairy now since surgery. It's easy to grab a piece of string cheese for a snack.
