  1. Help!!! Its so hard to not cheat on this pre-op diet!!!! LOL I feel like I am in hell. Today is day 4... I swapped a shake for a salad with grilled chicken that was nutritionally comparable. A few more cals and carbs that my shake but not significant. Did anyone have a pre-op diet that allowed 2 shakes and small Protein rich meal? I know its still cheating but I do feel like I am smart about it. Its not like I ate a slice of cake or pizza or anything loaded in carbs or fat. Maybe I am just trying to justify it to myself.. Come on people!! Someone sympathize with me! LOL

    First Fill

I am sort of frustrated. I was banded 9/4/07. I have had it easy, no problems have lost 23.5 lbs total did not gain anything during post-op. HOWEVER, I have been hungry hungry hippo these past few weeks with no-restriction and have been able to eat large volumes (no like pre-band but still more than what "I" think I should be able to eat) I have not lost anything is 2 weeks nor have I gained. Well, I got my first fill yesterday and I told them everything and my doc only filled my band .6cc's (i have no clue what type or size band I have). Is this really a conservative fill? Although I am just on Clear liquids now I certainly can tell nothing and I am worried when I can eat if it will do anything at all. Has anyone at all even had a little success with their first fill even if its short lived? I'm basically just making myself eat tiny portions (high protein/lowcarb and fat) and working out which is basically like dieting but I am not getting full. I've heard of it taking 1-2 weeks for you to feel the effects of the fill. I hope thats not the case. Any words of wisdom out there???

    First Fill

I was banded 9/4/07 and I am getting my first fill next tuesday 10/9/07. Seriously, I can not wait! I am hungry and am about eating small normal portions (lean cuisine) etc. I have not lost any weight in 2 weeks nor have I gained any. I know I should be glad but its a tad frustrating. Im hoping this fill will jump start my weight loss again. Any early september bandsters getting ready for a fill soon????

    First Fill

Not sure on my band size or type. I will be sure to ask at my next visit. I know I have .6 cc's in it currently. Today is 1 week post-fill. Still nothing. I'll keep on trucking though.

How much weight have you lost

Mandi78 - I never heard that from my surgeon but I do suppose it makes sense for anyone banded or not.

How many get fills with xray/fluoroscopy vs. not?

Mine was done in office with no problem just used ultrasound quickly to make sure the port was where is placed it originally.

    No Restriction and Hungry

I am a week out of my first fill which was conservative of .6 cc's. I can tell NO difference and was told it could take 2 weeks to feel a change and if after three weeks still no change to call back for another fill. So basically I am just dieting. Eating little bits and feeling hungry even when I am done eating. Its miserable.

    First Fill

Almost a week out from my first fill and still can't tell a difference. In fact I ate some ciabatta bread with my dinner last night. NO PROBLEMS... They told me to wait three weeks from the fill before calling to possibly set up another fill. I just know that I will be calling them back. Basically I am just dieting. Sometimes I wonder if I picked the right operation, then I have to remember my long list of reasons. I guess I will just be toughing this one out.

    First Fill

Okay, had my first fill yesterday. .6cc's. No clue what my band size is or type. Not sure if thats avereage or conservative. On clear liquids yesterday and today. Can't tell anything. Didn't feel a thing other than him pressing on my abdomen. My boyfriend was there and about passed out watching them do it because the needle is big. I didn't see it. Nothing to report as of yet. I'll post back when I eat some foods and let you all know if I can tell anything.

    First Fill

sounds like we are all feeling the same way. I will post back since it seems like I am the first to go and I will let everyone know how it went and how I am feeling although I have heard from multiple people that there can be a delayed reaction to the fill so you may not feel it for up to a week.

How much weight have you lost

I was 257 Pre-pre-op diet I was 244 on Surgery day Currently I weigh 235 and today I am 1 month Post-op. I have not lost anything the last 2 weeks. Just stayed the same. I'm very hungry and can eat what I think is a lot but compared to before srugery is still less. I get filled on 10/9 and CANT WAIT. I hope it gets me jump started again.

    Burping...

I didn't burp a lot at first. I Hiccupped. Now, when I eat or drink and I burp it is the most un-lady-like sound I have ever heard. It sounds like I just chugged and entire pitcher of Beer. I could enter a contest. Its gross.....
  14. :hungry: OK lots of people say that they have a full signal. I thought I would make a little survey to see what everyone here in bandland recognizes as "their" quirky full signal be it a sneeze, hiccups, burping or whatever else you might experience. This list may be helpful to newly banded folks to help them notice anything that may be happening so that we may be able to recognize our new signals.

    A question regarding bread

I'm with Missy. I ate some thin crust the other night. No problems... I was told I could eat that, well toasted bread and flour tortillas. I chew well and no problems. I am also pre-fill. I get filled on the 9th of October. I guess we'll see then if I can still tolerate. I hope so!

Weight Challenge - September to Thanksgiving 2007

Down -6 25 to go. I think I set my goal a bit too high since I don't even get my first fill until 10/9

    I could eat an elephant!

I feel tghe same way. I hate that full feeling not lasting for long periods anymore. I am 3 weeks out and I get my first fill on 10/9/07. I can not wait! I have lost 22lbs but only 9 post-op and those have been a struggle. The scale won't budge and I am walking 2-3 miles a day and eating all my protein staying within 700 cals or so. Its so frustrating!!!!

    Just need to complain!!!

I'm almost three weeks out 9/25 will be three weeks. My post-op was only a week of full liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week soft. Even on soft foods where you can eat most anything as long as its the right consistency its so boring and my hunger is back with a vengence. Today my daughter and I shared some fat-free no sugar added, strawberry frozen yogurt with some granola in it and I swear it was the best thing I have put in my mouth in a over a month. I get filled on 10/9 and I CANNOT wait. 2 weeks and 3 days! I know you are all feeling. Good luck till your 1st fill!
  19. I was told to sip from a small medicine cup and it should take about 4 little sips to finish the cup. I'd call my doc. Hope it gets better!
  20. I'm newly banded, but I read a whole lot more than I ever post. I have spent hours and hours this last week doing a lot of reading here. I have read a lot of posts that its obvious that the people recognize that this a just a TOOL to help in weight loss. I have also read many posts where people were banded 2 or more years ago and have only lost 40 lbs. How in the world is that even possible? The physics of weight loss are simple. MORE ENGERY EXPENDED THAN CONSUMED = WEIGHT LOSS... Are their really people undergoing this operation that don't understand this? I am not judging anyone, please don't think this. But its like I see people FREAKING out if they dont feel "their restriction". What that says to me is that we are relying totally on our bands to do the work. For me I feel as if its going to be a lot more "headwork" than anything. I dunno, I could totally freak out if I don't feel it either. I just feel like as if I am scared that I will totally be dependent on the band to do everything when I know from that start that no matter what I have to do my part of eating right and moving my body. I read the results of the studies and its right there in black and white. People with lapband lose only 30-40% of their weight? What they aren't saying is why is this happening? It could be a multitude of things. But I like many others felt this was the best course for me and am committed to do the right things and let the band be my aid. I think it just goes to show that those so called "thorough psych evals" are hogwash. If any this doesnt make sense, forgive me. I tend to ramble when I have a lot of thoughts. Also, not trying to offend anyone. Just food for thought.

    Had my surgery yesterday 9/19

By day 4 you will feel like a new person! I promise. I went out all say shopping. Walk as much as you can to help break up the gas. The CO2 has to move to areas of low concentration in your body, so the more you move the more your muscles will need it and use it up! Good Luck! Hang in their and congrats!

    Banded 9/4...

They told me I could begin walking as soon as I felt able and to just listen to my body and do what I could. I can begin weights and water aerobics 6wks post-op. I have been walking 2 - 3 miles everyday for the last week or so. SInce I have started my weight loss and stopped but my intake had not increased much. First fill is 10/9/07. When is yours?

    Banded 9/4...

Day two post-op. Just woke up a little bit ago. Slept much better last night than I had expected to. Had to have the loritab last night, its sooo NASTY but it helped me get a lot of rest. Feeling pretty good other than the gas pains that have settled in my left shoulder. If it weren't for that I would feel perfect. Will keep everyone posted. Time to get up and walk around a bit.
  24. INDIOGIRL55 is my hero! Tough band-love. Works for me.
