For those that were denied...did anyone have BCBS? I am waiting for approval and wondering if I should be worried... Good luck with the phone calls!! Take care

Oh no! I am waiting for approval as we speak. My surgery date is the 15th. When i spoke to my insurance company Friday they said if I was denied a reason why would be included. I am just hoping and praying it is not denied. I will hope for you that it is something simple and you will be approved in the near future!!

I only have to do a 4 day liquid diet so I don't have to start for another week. It so weird how every Dr does it differently. It makes me feel like I am supposed to be doing something different but I know to listen to him. He is fabulous! Enjoy your time with family. I am sure it will be helpful to remain focused and motivated. Good luck! lets keep in touch

how long did it take you all to get insurance approval? Im scheduled for 15th but need approval.. Hate the waiting game..

I have completed all of the insurance requirments over the last 7 months and I am scheduled for surgery on August 15th. I have BCBS Excellus in NY and paperwork was submitted yesterday afternoon. Any of you have BCBS ? How long did it take you to get approval? Once I have that piece I can calm down a bit. So excited for surgery but trying not to get too much in case there is disappointments. Any advice or words of wisdom about waiting for approval? Thanks!

Last appointment was today and surgery is schedule for 2 weeks from tomorrow ) Now, lets just get that insurance approval and I can relax and be less anxious. I am feeling so excited but don't want hopes up until I know for absolute sure ) Thanks everyone!

What a busy couple days I have had. Physical at doctors, pre admission testing at the hospital, psychiatric exam and my nutrition appointment is Wednesday. Everything is looking great and I really cannot wait. I started this process in January and thought it would never get here. It is now only 20 days away!! So sweet How are all my august friends doing?

I'm also from upstate NY. Dr. McDonald is my surgeon at Upstate. My surgery is scheduled for August 27th. I had shoulder surgery April 3rd, & this is the earliest date they could hive me. I have been working toward this date for 2 years.

Yeah for you!!! I am in Potsdam which is about an hour and a half north of Watertown. I am actually having surgery with Dr. Graber in Syracuse. I am so happy to hear post op is going very well for you ) I am hopeful!!

Hello everyone! I am 36 and just joined the RNY Talk site a couple weeks ago. I will be having RNY on August 15th and I really cannot wait!! I have lots of appointments in the upcoming 2 weeks and its gets me more and more closer to the big day. A little about me... from upstate NY, married, mom of 2 teenage girls and work 10 months out of the year as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a local public school district. I have battled with weight for as long as I remember and this surgery is going to give me the tools to reach my goals in life. I look forward to getting to know all of you on here

I agree, if you are unsure give the dr office a call. Every doctor seems to have their own recommendations. Good luck!

The information that is listed from my surgeon says apple juice, cranberry juice, Water, Jello, coffee without milk, clear broth, ginger ale/cola, popsicles. Hope this helps

What kind of diet did they say to do 7 days prior? is it a liquid diet?

My rny is August 15th. My information says I only have to do liquid diet 3 days prior. I cannot take motrin or naproxen from here on out (30 days prior to surgery). I always wonder why some drs do a long liquid diet than others. I should know more at my nutrition class on the 31st.

I am from upstate NY as well. My surgery date is set for August 15th . So EXCITING!!!!

Sounds like you have a plan I have had my gall bladder out and a discectomy, removing my L4-L5 disk in my back. I agree, getting out of bed after a surgery can be difficult. My back surgery was a breeze, gall bladder was not so much. My couch/recliner will become my best friend. In order to heal we must move through the pain. After a couple of days you should feel much better and moving around better. I am hopeful. My children, 14 and 15 will be going camping with family for a few days and wont be home until 5 days after surgery. Their ages are one of the reasons why I am so ready. I want to enjoy my girls and they are old enough to understand. I am an occupational therapist who works with many autistic kids. It was good you thought ahead and hats off to you, for putting you first We cannot be the best mommies we can be if we don't take care of ourselves. I will also be in Syracuse on the 26th for an 11:15 and 2:00 appointment. I am having my Clearance physical done with my regular doctor here. Enjoy your night! Congrats again

I have to drive 2.5 hours but I have family in Syracuse and will be staying with them the night before How about you?
