Continue to sip fluids and walk )) -
I was on percacet in hospital as needed. I had surgery the 15th and switched to tylenol the 16th, evening. I have not taken anything since then. My surgeon does not want you going home until pain is under control as you only go home with over the counter tylenol.

When did you have surgery? Hope the pain subsides for you soon!! Take care

I am so sorry to hear that things keep popping up that slow down the process. I remember in January thinking it would be forever away but its finally here. Tomorrow is my surgery. How long has it been for you since you made the first call for an appointment? Try not to get too discouraged. I was supposed to be in July but my insurance didn't like one of my monthly supervised diet notes so it held things up a little. I thought it was the end of the world at that time but I do believe everything happens for a reason and I think now, this time is better. All doctors are different. I did not even need a sleep test and my liquid diet was only 3 days prior to surgery. I do believe this will all work out to benefit you. Its okay to vent! Thats why we are here. Take care! -
I need to pick up protein shakes as well however my dr only has us use it for 2 weeks after surgery and that is only if we can tolerate it. He said its better to stay hydrated the first couple of weeks than to try to tolerate something and get sick. If you want the names of the ones my surgeon suggested let me know

I am having RNY on Thursday. My surgeon does not do the band any longer so it was not an option. He does the sleeve and RNy but recommended RNY for me. I went with his recommendation. Good luck with whatever option you choose that best suites your goals. Take care!

You are an inspiration! Way to go. Can I ask about your exercise regime? I have surgery the 15th (Thursday). I am worried I will be lost in knowing what to do when it comes to the gym. I know I can walk and such but did you do anything specific?

YEAH!! I do know people who had similar guidelines with insurance and it was a a rather quick and easy process. I am so happy for you. I remember being so nervous when mine went out for approval hoping and praying everything was right You will do just fine. Good luck!

I have BCBS of NY. I had to do 6 months of supervised nutritional weigh in appointments at once a month. I also had to meet certain BMI requirements. Once I had the 6 months is with all the other appointments they approved me quickly. Where are you in the process? Good luck!

Surgery is in two weeks.
liane replied to Tlearninglife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear your friends are not as supportive as one would hope. Remember you are doing this for you and nobody else. YEAH for you for making yourself a priority. I am having my surgery in 4 days. In regards to Vitamins by surgeon recommended the following. My surgeon gives me the following options for Multivitamin. They are all chewable. He said they need to have 18 mg of Iron and 400 mcg folic acid per pill. No gummies! Centrum Kids Complete (NOT silver label) Flinstones complete Equate (Walmart) Childrens Multi complete. I also have to take 500 mcg of Vitamin b12 which can be can be pill form of chewable or liquid or dissolved and Calcium caltrate, which is usually pill form but can be dissolved in liquid. In regards I can look to see the brands however he only has his patients on them for 2 weeks post op. My pre op diet is simply liquid with no Protein shakes for 3 days prior to surgery. Every surgeon is different and I am sure yours will give you direction in the upcoming days GOOD LUCK! -
