Pre-op diet?! Venting having hard time but getting by
Yennydayerman replied to nervous&happy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also thought the pre op liquid diet got easier as it went on, although man oh man did I look forward to my evening meal. I hate protein shakes. I drank chocolate to which I added a touch of mint extract, and even then, I chugged it down and sometimes had to fight to keep it down. My doctor did not want us drinking shakes after surgery, so I have not really had to drink them since, although now I am struggling to get in enough protein on some days, so I am always on the lookout for a new shake to try. I work at Costco and we just got in a new powder, cookies and cream, I will give it a go, but am not hopefull...LOL! -

Hi, my name is Jen. I had gastric bypass surgery on August 26. Everything went perfect. I was able to resume exercising a week after surgery. I am currently following all the rules set up by my doctor. I eat 3 meals a day of 3-4 oz meat, cheese or eggs. I work out 40 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I do not snack or drink any caloric beverages. I swear I am doing all these things every days. My initial weight loss was good, I am down about 30 lbs, but I have not lost anything in 3 weeks. How can that be? I am so discouraged. I am questioning everything. I'm so afraid that I went through all this for nothing. Any advice? Thank you

Did anything good happen as a over weight person?
Yennydayerman replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in The Lounge
No, nothing really good. I've been alone my whole life, certainly not an attractive person and my self esteem is non-existent. I'm 44 and had surgery on August 26. I need to change, I will never be pretty, but I hope to improve by losing 100 lbs. I do have a great family and best friend, and people like me, but it's not enough. I need to like myself, right now I don't. -
Stinging, Pulling feeling on inside Post-op ?
Yennydayerman replied to mom24kiddos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that exact feeling when I had my gallbladder out, a feeling like things were going to tear on the inside, ESP when trying to roll over. My surgeon sent me home on no pain meds, and I never asked about it. Honestly, it just went away as I healed. I had surgery Monday and have no pain like that, but I did go home on Vicodin... -
Hi, I had my surgery Monday August 26, I am home now on a puréed diet. Our teacher told us we may struggle to eat 3 oz of food. So far I don't have that problem, in fact I can't tell if I'm full at all, nor do I feel hungry. I still have belly pain, so maybe that's it, but between not having a hard time eating and not being able to tell if I'm hungry at all, things just seem odd, any thoughts?

Things You Don't Have To Worry About When Your Not Fat
Yennydayerman replied to Monique5005's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm looking forward to just being able to look at myself, whether in pictures on Facebook, my image in a mirror or my reflection as I walk toward a glass door. I've become so accustomed to simply avoiding these things, it's second nature. Also, having my shadow not be twice as big as the person I'm walking with. My surgery is schedule August 26, I need to change. -
Surgery and a catheter
Yennydayerman replied to Yennydayerman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder how this surgery will compare to gallbladder surgery. I know it is more involved internally, but I believe the incisions are similar. When I had that I did not have a catheter.I recall getting ready to leave, there was no overnight stay, it was hard, but doable. Crap, I do not want one! Seems so humiliating, and I have done more humiliating things in the last 4 months than in my whole life, I am not kidding. -
I have gone through so many tests required by my surgeons, stuff I never thought I'd do, but my new fear is wondering if I will be required to have a urine catheter while in the hospital. I know it may seem silly, but it's frightening me. Does anyone know if its normal to have one? Thank you, Jen
