I'm starting my pre op on Tues. I used to be a heavy drinker in my long ago past. I found that I'm craving alcohol more than food. I've gone almost 2 years without drinking anything other than 4-6oz of red wine once a week and its been 3 weeks since my last glass. I haven't acted on it but I think I just might miss my Saturday glass of wine more than food. Is this weird?

You are doing awesome! We started around the same time. I've only lost 7 pounds but I'm down a clothes size. I think our surgeon were injured/sick around the same time too, if I remember right. My surgeon recovered a month sooner than expected so he's doing my surgery. I was going to have to go outta state to have surgery if he didn't get better by December. I hope you and the new doc have good chemistry and your appointment goes well. 45 pounds...get it girl!

Congrats! Do you know your date yet?

I had planned to have my tubes tied when I have my rny. My surgeon has a gynecologist that assists him in surgery. I went in for my gyn exam with the doctor and he recommended to have my tubes removed instead of tied I was ok with this because I know the benefits of removing the whole tube when you're high risk for ovarian cancer. Well when he did the sonogram to check for cyst and fibroids there was an oddly shaped cyst on my ovary. He told me he wants to look at it again in December. If he doesn't like the look of it then he's going to remove my tubes and the ovary. Well I got a call today that they found pre cancerous cells on my cervix. So it is very possible I may have a hysterectomy at the same time as my rny. I'm afraid that this will make my recovery really difficult. I've only had one other surgery and that was for ovarian cyst. I was 17 and it was an easy lap procedure. I'm kind if scared and just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this.

Good for you! -
The VP of my department had the surgery years ago. He tried to scare me by telling me about certain foods making him sick and multiple admissions for strictures and other stuff. I know he has had issues. He told me not to trust any surgeon in Alaska and to go to the lower 48. But then followed that by make sure you live close to your surgeon because other surgeons wont touch you if you have complications. Blah blah blah... he's s great person and very knowledgeable about healthcare but I think he just know enough about me to know this is a good choice for me.

Amen! I was worried at first about if this was the right thing to do but God makes all things possible. Congratulations on your success!

There's a forum for rny complication support. There are stories of complications.

I know surgery is covered but I'm wondering if they make it difficult to get approved. I want mentally prepared for battle if need be. lol.

Funny. I told him I was gonna be hot to trot at his graduation. He made me promise no cleavage or mini skirts. Lol. Not my style but it was funny.

Thank you. I got my surgery date today for November 19th. I'm really nervous about the gyn part of the surgery. I will message you. I only plan on taking 2 weeks off. I have basically a desk job.

December Surgeries!?!?!?
mskami77 replied to preopmano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just my insurance approval. I finished all of my requirements on October 8th. Submitted to insurance on the 24th approved on the 29th and a date today. So I guess I waited 21 days. I can't believe it happened so fast. I started the process on July so this is crazy fast.
