Anyone Else Just Barely Still In Thirties?
mskami77 replied to Txsmama's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I turned 38 yesterday. I'm almost 2 years out. -
Who is with me on the Back on Track train? Let everyone hear your stories - good, bad and ugly.
mskami77 replied to joyfulinga's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had rny in November 2013. My lowest weight has been 181. I'm up to 185 but my goal is 150-155. I need to get back on track to lose this weight. My highest weight was 314. Surgery weight was about 298. I feel great about how far I've come but it bothers me that I haven't reached my goal yet. I haven't felt motivated to do what I should to get there. I wanna be motivated but I'm just not right now. I'm trying to get on this site more often in order to get motivated. -
It took about 3 days but my surgeon was recovering from an injury so it took a few weeks before I got a date.

I'll be 2years out in November. This is at 1 year and now. I still have 25 to go!

I'm not a sleever but I've been looking for people in Colorado Springs area for over a year now. I had rny in November 2013. I've been really missing my support group from Alaska. It'd be great to connect with a few people. Struggling to lose the last 25 pounds too reach my goal.

My doctor advises to wait 1 year or until you've reached your goal weight. Alcohol hinders your weight loss. Honestly, I'm almost 2years out and I enjoy my wine but I'm 25 pounds away from my goal and I know it's because of the wine. I waited 13 months before I had my first sip. Let your pouch heal then go with what your doctor recommends.

I know this is a crazy question...
mskami77 replied to mickie41's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to take everything off for surgery. You want the environment to be sterile especially close to the incisions during surgery. I brought my own robe to wear around the hospital. It's was thicker and covered me up more than what the hospital offers. I put my bra on when I got dressed for discharge but it was uncomfortable. -
Did Dr. Todd do your surgery? I was in Anchorage for almost 7 years but we moved to Colorado last year. I miss my bariatric fam in AK.

For those who love hot sauce before...
mskami77 replied to ohjul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love heat in my food! Even more so after surgery. I do have days that it bothers my pouch but it's normally because I've eaten spicy food for 2 of my 3 meals for several days in a row. My surgeon was ok with spicy foods when I started solids. -
I like it!

Coconut Oil Post Surgery?
mskami77 replied to Cutwater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 19 months out and I love coconut oil! I use a little it to pop my evening popcorn it gives it a really good flavor. Just keep it in moderation, as with any fats, and you should be fine. -
Alcoholic Cocktails & Me
mskami77 replied to Dee_1111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is an old post but thanks for sharing. I love my red wine! I haven't tried any sweet drinks but an occasional vodka with diet cranberry juice or fresh watermelon is a nice treat. Definitely got a good laugh. -
Starting year two, feeling hopeless
mskami77 replied to latido's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No tears! We got this! Its frustrating! 30 pounds to goal when I never thought I'd get under 200 pounds. Let's count our successes and work towards shaking these pounds. Do you think your body has reached its comfort zone? Have you tried shaking things up a bit by increasing your healthy carbs? -
Starting year two, feeling hopeless
mskami77 replied to latido's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm not a model patient. I started out the first year doing everything by the book. I lost 136 pounds. We relocated and I lost all support. I have 30 pounds to go and I just haven't been able to get it off. My body responded so much better when I had support all around me. I tried to attend an OA meeting just to meet people and it sucked! Nice people but not for me. I just logged back on this site hoping to find some support and motivation. Maybe we can encourage each other. -
I'm glad I'm not the only one flinging my bra across the room when I get full. It's weird. It's rare but when it happens I feel terrible!
-
I'm new to Colorado Springs. I had gastric bypass 11/19/2013. I'm down 136 pounds and maintaining. I have 30 more to go but I've really struggled since we relocated. I lost my support system and it's been hard to stay focused. It'd be nice to meet people in the area.

I wish I was still in Anchorage. I'm in Colorado Springs now.

It's been awhile so I'd thought I should check again for AK buddies.

I just found out my surgery has been pushed to December. My surgeon is injured so I must wait. I'll be submitting to insurance in a few weeks soo hopefully all will go well.

Female issues with RNY?
mskami77 replied to Kremmell785's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an ablation and my tubes removed during surgery. I don't have periods anymore but I cramp really bad about the time I would normally have my cycle. -
That is great! I'm going back to work tomorrow. I'm still really tired several times a day. I just lay down and sleep for an hour then I'm up and about again. I haven't noticed a difference in my clothes yet. My husband and my son said they can see it in my face. I'm glad you're doing well.

What To Expect When They Wake Me Up In Recovery!
mskami77 replied to MinnesotaDreaming23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have dry mouth. No pain or discomfort until early the next morning. I had cramps really bad and the pain meds made me nauseous. I had gynecologic surgery at the same time. If it wasn't for the cramps I don't think I would've had any discomfort. I was in recovery for a long time (4hrs) before I was moved to my room but I don't remember anything until I got to my room and saw my husband. I had a mild freak out because my son wasn't there. He had gone home to be with my young children. I'm sorry you'll be alone. Hopefully, the nursing staff will be very attentive to your needs. Get plenty of rest and everything should be great. Good luck! -
