Thanks for the words of encouragement. This whole process is crazy stressful! My emotions are all over the place. I'm so glad you all have been there and can give advice.

I just spoke with the living healthy nurse coach. She says it looks like I'm doing all the right things and she's going to monitor my case as soon as the doctor establishes my case. I feel much better knowing there's a team of people with Aetna to help me in the process. She says I have access to a counselor, dietician, and a pharmacist for free with our plan. I can use them to help establish my team. This is really going to happen! :-)

Beautiful! I can't wait to be on the losers bench. How are you feeling? -
That's inspiring! I'm doing the 3 month as well. I have my pcp, dietician, psychiatrist, surgeon and I attend weekly support groups. Does that sound about right? My surgeons office has only done the 6 month diet so this is somewhat new to them. Most if the patients here are military, BCBS or medicare. Sorry if I'm asking to many questions. You're the first person I've met with my insurance. :-)

I did Zumba today for the first time in years! It was soo much fun! I didn't know I could get this 300lb body to move like that. lol. I can't wait to have surgery so I can do it and look as good as I felt while dancing. The other plus was that my husband and all 4 of my kids (my boys are 17 & 11 and my girls are 7 & 5) were there dancing by my side. I held an 90 minute Zumba Marathon fundraiser and I didn't expect my husband to dance. He was supposed to be there to help register people and collect donations. And low and behold, I look up and there's my big 6'7", 440lb husband dancing away. It was awesome! I think my family is on the way to a healthier lifestyle. I just had to share my joy! :-)

I was wondering if anyone had their tubes tied at the same time as laparoscopic rny. My surgeon works with a gyn that is willing to do it but I'm worried about the recovery time after. I don't want to stay longer but I definitely don't want a second surgery. Thoughts?

Thanks! Did you do the 6 month diet or 3 month multidisciplinary preparation?

Chicken chili with white beans and a fresh picked salad. I took my kids to a local farm to pick veggies so that was part of dinner. :-) -
I had my first appointment with Dr. Michael Todd today. It was way better than I expected. He was very kind and took time to talk to me about my personal life and goals for my future. He brought up things I never would think to relate to having this surgery. We talked about career changes, confidence and assertiveness and how I will notice a difference in how my friends, family snd coworkers will treat me after weight loss. He even talked to my husband about the changes I'll go through after surgery and how he can support me. I was expecting a conversation strictly about my health history and medical mumbo jumbo. I feel even better now about my decision to do this. How did you feel after your first appointment? Did you learn something you hadn't equated to weight loss?

Next time turn the broiler on for a few minutes. It'll crisp em up real quick. Just watch them so they don't burn. :-) -
driving home right after surgery.

If you do need a friend to transport you. Why not just tell them you are having a minor gastrointestinal procedure because you've been having complications with your digestive system. :-) Not really dishonest but maybe you can avoid the bypass conversation until you're ready to talk about it. -

No pre-op liquid diet?
mskami77 replied to XXLnomore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires a pre op diet but not liquid. Carb count cannot exceed 30gm and must get 85-100gm of protein. The 24hrs before surgery is the only liquid day. I'm so happy I can have food! -

That's a great idea too! -
That sucks! I guess it's not a common request. I am only the 2nd person to ask my surgeon to do it. Since there will be a gynecologist assisting him in surgery he said it'll be easy to do instead of me having 2 surgeries. How many kids do you have?

Nachos are my weakness. That's a really good idea. Did you bake the tortilla to make the chips?
