  1. Hi Chelly, sorry to hear what your experiencing. Have you spoken to your surgeon/dietician about what's happening? People can experience dumping syndrome after a bypass but that does not normally happen with everything you eat unless it all contains a lot of fat? I've been the other way since surgery and been really constipated and only seem to get loose bowels if had a lot of yoghurt or cheese.
  2. Everybody is different with any surgery. In the UK you are signed off work for a minimum of 2 weeks after gallbladder surgery my op was 3 weeks fri and I am still currently off. I managed to open one of my keyhole scars a week and half after op so think gp is playing things safe plus I'm still in some pain. I'm struggling with eating and drinking without discomfort hence the endoscopy being carried out to see if anything else is going on. I've definitely found this more uncomfy to my bypass op though. Hope the op goes well for you next month
  3. I totally agree have learned a fair bit from this site. It's also so different in the uk so at times I get confused but it's good to be able to gain so much advice and tips from a wide range of people.
  4. Yeah I'm doing ok thank you. I had to have my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago and since then am struggling a bit so am having an endoscopy done tomorrow just to make sure all is ok and no ulcers or anything.
  5. Hi UK ladies. Hope surgery has gone well for you both. I had my gastric bypass back in July. If paracetamol don't help with any pain now or in the future your allowed, co-codamol or if really bad tramadol just no anti inflammatory meds ever!

    Young & Nervous

Hi, it's understandable to be nervous and anxious and not know what's right to do. I'm 35 and always been morbidly obese since my teens. I decided about 4yrs ago I needed help as dieting etc just weren't working for me. I knew I didn't want a band so I got myself all in the mind set of a sleeve then when I see my surgeon in May she said they may do a bypass I got myself in a state and didn't know what I should do but in the end I went with what my surgeon thought best and in July had a bypass and don't retreat in one bit. You have to go with what you feel is right not what others tell you. All the best in whatever you decide

2 weeks post op pureed food

The post op guidelines are totally different in the UK to elsewhere. For 1st 2 weeks I had to follow a liquid only diet. Yesterday I started my puréed diet that's why I was asking for advice. We are also not given or told about a protein drink to have..

    Ok desserts never again

A friend of mine makes cakes as well. She is 6 years post op. she said she can eat the cake but the icing gives her dumping. I think dumping happens due to different things for everybody so just try a little and see. I had a weetabix this morning and think I experienced dumping syndrome after what I've read yet I'm just starting my puréed diet and weetabix is allowed on this so don't understand at all.
  12. Hi all Well I'm 2 weeks post op now and can start my puréed food today. I had weetabix for Breakfast and managed about half of one but now feel really sicky and light headed has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if its cause my bodies just been used to yoghurt's and Soups for past 2 weeks. Definitely stopped before I felt full though so don't feel I've over eaten.
