  1. I am 5 weeks post-op and have lost 30lb!!:clap2: I went shopping for clothes yesterday my waist is down 10 inches :whoo:
  2. I was banded 6/25/07 weighing 248 post-op, today 7/23/07 I weigh 219, I am scheduled for my first fill 8/23/07. So far I have lost 36 lb, but I still have a month to go before getting filled. I haven't been hungry yet. I've been eating just to get my protien.
  3. I absolutely agree with you. That is why I went through the whole work-up to see if there was anything else that would help me. Luckily I had two blood glucose tests which were slightly over normal. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes, but I guess it was just enough to get it approved since my BMI was 37. It just does not make sense that you have to be sick first. It should be available and covered for anybody with a BMI over 35 for longer than 3 years.

    Mushies Stage Recipes

During this stage of the diet what portion size can you eat for each meal? 2 oz, 4 oz? 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup?
  5. Hi, My BMI was around 38. I was 5'9" @ 260 lb. I was approved the first time. The Dr. and his staff said that I should go to the casino and that I am very lucky . I have/had? high cholesterol and my blood sugar was slightly over normal (I'm not diagnosed with diabetes). They sent be for a sleep apnea test which was negative. (The sleep apnea test was the worst part of this whole LAP-Band experience, I think I would rather have the surgery again before having to go through another sleep study!!) I think it has a lot to do with having the right insurance company. I have Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Good luck everyone.

    June 2007 Bandsters

Once in a while i get a back pain in the middle of my back, I think it due to dehydration. When i feel the pain I make sure I start drinking my liquids and the pain goes away after I get down 30-40 oz. Does this happen to anyone else? I use to have no problem getting down liquids before my band, I would just chugg 20 oz. How much can you drink at one time and how long should i wait before drinking more? It's hard to get all the liquids you need if you are not to drink 30 min prior and then 2 hrs after you eat. How is it possible?

    First Fill

Can you describe the AP Band? My Dr. put the newest LAP-Band in me, it has the balloon all the way around where the older one had a gap where the clasp is, also it holds more saline. Is this what you have?

    port questions

I am 3 weeks post-op. My BMI at time of surgery was 36.6 I asked my Dr. if I could have the low profile port instead of the initial size port that they normally put in. He said that he would since the location on my upper right abdomen does not have too much fat there. It didn't seem like he normally places the low profile port in people initially. He said that he normally switches people to the low profile when they reach the target weight as a reward. I guess I was lucky. My port area is still swollen it has gone down a bit. It does take a long time for the swelling to go down.

    Your Favorite Protiens?

I make sure i drink Isopure by Nature's Best. 40g Protein, 0 carbs, 0 fat, 160 calories (must have calories to have protien). Comes in a 20 oz bottle and many flavors. I get mine from GNC. It's expensive $3-$4 per bottle, but it is worth it. I don't know how I would get all the protein I need with out it. My Dr. likes me to have about 60g of protien a day. 3 weeks + 1 day post-op today. 248 pre-op, 222 today
