  1. Hi All - I have been doing pretty well since I spoke to you last but I am having a tough time right now. I have had been stuck since 7:30 pm, it's now 2:30am. I am finally drinking some hot tea after sliming, vomiting, and burping for hours. I had the keys in my hand to go to the Brigham but decided to hop online for some advice as a last effort. Hot tea, heating pad, and anxiety meds are helping take the edge off. I really did not want to go to the ER. I think it will pass. ttyl, Amy
  2. Mel & Paige - I'm so glad I came to the support group tonight. I already feel better. Great to connect with you both. Thx, Amy
  3. I know that liquid in=liquid out but the cramps are fierce. It's 4:30am and I have been up for an hour with bad cramps and diarrhea...sorry TMI! I have taken Pepto but I am really uncomfortable. Should I take Immodium? I haven't been perfect on the liquid diet, some ice cream in the Protein shakes and gazpacho Soup (bad, bad idea) but I was pretty good today so I don't get it. Will it get better once I'm on mushies? A cracker and ginger ale would be good right now. Feelin' yucky, at least the Red Sox won two games today! Amy
  4. I am doing really well 4 days post-op. Walking is a huge help, not to mention the pain meds, but I don't like the taste of any of the shakes. Will I damage my band by putting a scoop of ice cream in with the protein shake? One scoop of coffee ice cream in a Carnation Instant Breakfast shake makes it taste so much better and I can get the protein I need. Help! Amy
  5. I am 4 days post-op and I have the searing pain occasionally but the pain meds really help with that. I have also used an ice bag and placed a pillow over my stomach for some added support. Some of the pain may be from gas. Walking and GasX are really helping a ton. Hope you feel better. Amy

I'm new and so so sad HELP

Liz - I am also having surgery soon and find myself feeling scared. I have been in the process for over a year and after many, many test I am finally approved to move ahead. The emotions are a roller coaster but I know I have to do this. I am scared about what could take the place of food but I also know that I have no choice but to take this step. I think we need to listen to the many people who love what it has done for their life and know in our hearts it's the right thing to do. I wanted it so badly and felt desperate when I was told I did not qualify. I think it's totally normal to be scared but I know that I must go forward for myself and for my family. Amy
