    June Post Ops!

My surgeon says the goal is 50-60 lbs lost in 90 days. So it sounds like you're on a good track based on that goal.

My Dr. wants me to eat around 600-700 calories focusing on 60g protein though. My personal experience (a whole 6 1/2 weeks out like I'm a guru :-) ) is that my weight loss stalls when I don't get the 60g protein and plenty of Water (at least 48 oz). So, if you wanna lose weight faster, you gotta get the protein and when that gets up there the calories will follow.

So, anyone know when surgeons decide we've put up with this "stuck food state" long enough to decide we have a stricture? I'm kinda tired of puking. Ya I know, it's only been 6 weeks.

New personal reminder of the importance of our 64 oz of water - my surgery was 6/12, today, a kidney stone! First one ever. I had heard they felt like back labor and guess what, it does! 3liters of fluid, 7 hours later, and a bunch of anti nausea meds (throwing up since yesterday). So really gang, we need to keep that water going in!
  7. Best of luck, hang in there, you can do this!

Went for my 4 week follow up appt today. Down 24 pounds which is great but I've only lost 4 in the past 2 weeks. Why is it we have to beat ourselves up so much? Surgeon is happy but we're watching for stricture because I seem to have solid food "catch" too often, or maybe I'm eating too fast even though I don't think I am. HW 247.5, CW 221.

I too, hit a stall @ 3weeks, but I am currently unable to get 64oz of water down and struggle to get 60 grams of protein. I've read that is a real key to the pound loss even though I'm on consuming about 500 calories per day (and walking 30 min daily). I'm down 23 lbs since preop but annoyed at my weight loss too. But surgeon said they expect 50 - 60 lbs in 3 months so I choose to stay optimistic at this moment but in a couple of weeks I'm gonna get mad!

About the depression, as someone who has struggled with it most of my life, it will sound cliche but the bad times are temporary. Look for the positives and realize the negatives don't define you. You are taking daily steps forward. Remember to forgive yourself! Again, it is temporary, really good things will come.

My PCP was not required for anything either. I understand that's up to the insurance program. Surgeon didn't require it. If my surgical coordinator contacted my PCP, I haven't heard. But now that I need to go back to my PCP I feel kind of weird, like I've hidden something from him.

Kristlynngirl The surgeon told me that depression gets very active about weeks 3-4 because of the hormonal imbalance caused by the fat loss. (Fat traps estrogen). 19-20 lbs is awesome!

Ok, I'm new to the support group. Surgery date June 12th. PreOp weight 247, current weight 224. I've had two really bad days when eating almost solid food. Think I either didn't chew well enough or I pushed it too soon. I'm finding the unflavored protein powder to be helpful mixed with V8 fusion light juices and fortunately I love Greek yogurt. I'm craving salad, fried chicken, and cheeseburgers! Feels strange meeting friends for lunch/dinner and not eating much, if at all, but it'll come around.

    Regret...need help! ! !

My surgeon warned me that depression is very common 3-4 weeks out and is related to the hormonal adjustments (estrogen) from the fat loss. Keep up the vitamins, protein, and water. We'll get thru it together. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post surgery with minimum consequences but man I'd love a cheeseburger with friends!
