    Any September surgeries out there

Tomorrow is my day!!! I still haven't cheated, but now that I'm down to my last day I keep thinking 'omg, I'll never have a double whopper with French fries again!' Lol. I know I can't cheat now cuz It's too late, but that keeps running through my mind. And Saturday will mark my daughter's 3 yr remission date from leukemia and in 11 days It's my 25th birthday and I can't celebrate either with pizza and cake Maybe by my birthday, I'll be able to eat an egg or refried beans with cheese.

Just three more days till my surgery! Woohoo! And I'm so proud of myself for sticking with the pre-op diet

    Any October surgeries out there...

I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet and I've lost 11 pounds already. My pre-op diet is limited to 20 grams of protein though. I don't think It's healthy, but It's what my program requires and It's probably okay short-term to get the weight that you need to get off

Pre-op diet seems very extreme. Anyone else?

Wow that's awesome! How long ago did you have surgery and how much have you lost since?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the gum would be okay. I'll have to try that. How much did you lose pre-op?

I'm sure it's hard to read that if you're on your phone like me, but it says low carb, low cal, low fat, low protein diet for one week and then towards the bottom, it says 20 grams/day

Pre-op diet seems very extreme. Anyone else?

I've asked different people in the office just to make sure and they said 20 grams is all I can have pre-op. After surgery, It's 60-75. A woman in one of my classes was telling the nutritionist what she ate on her first day of the diet and her total was 25 grams of Protein and the nutritionist said not to let it happen again! If I keep feeling like I'm going to pass out, I'm going to start cheating by adding a low-cal, low fat, low carb, high Protein Drink each day. Since everyone else seems to get 60 grams/day, I doubt it would hurt. Plus they said my liver was already small, but I had to do the diet anyways because It's just the program's rules. 10. My mandatory pre-op education class is on Tuesday from 8:45-1:15. If I don't go, my surgery will be postponed a month or more. Tuesday also happens to be my miracle baby's(leukemia survivor) first day of preschool from 9am-12pm. I am so sad and depressed about missing this huge milestone! What would you do? I'm contemplating calling her in sick on Tuesday lol

    Birth control?

I double checked with my Dr and he said It's 80% effective during the first 1-2 years....not good enough for me! I think I will get the implant

    Birth control?

I received a phone call from my surgeon's office today informing that a week prior to surgery, I must stop taking birth control and I can't get back on it until 4 wks after surgery. Does anyone know why this is? Is there an added risk for surgery? Does it just not get absorbed during the first month? Either way I'm following the drs orders, I'm just curious. And after that month is up, is it definitely going to work like in a normal person? I do not want anymore babies for a few years!

    decisions, decisions

What's going on with him? My daughter has special medical needs also. She was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukemia when she was 6 months. I highly suggest starting a caringbridge.org site to let family know what's going on/let off steam. My daughter's site is www.caringbridge.org/visit/sagebaker

    Any September surgeries out there

Man oh man did I fuck up! I've been so consumed with having my last meal(s) that I somehow missed the fact that my Dr requires no weight gain from the first appointment(2months ago) to the physical(today)!!!! I'm freaking the hell out now. Nurse just weighed me and I'm up 8 lbs...waiting to hear what the Dr will say now I'm praying he just postpones instead of kicking me out of the program altogether

    Birth control?

Omg scary! I do not want any more babies for a while so I'm going to talk with my Dr about this more
  23. I had a ton of blood tests a few weeks ago as one of my requirements before submitting the surgery request to the insurance company. Everything came back fine except my vitamin d. They started me on supplements for that, said it wouldn't interfere with surgery, they'd just check it again in November. I got my surgery date for September 5th and now they are saying I need more bloodwork done on August 26th(a week and a half prior to surgery). Does anyone know what this is for? They'be already taken about 6 vials...what else could they possibly need? Lol. I was thinking maybe they're double-checking on platelets or other clotting factors, but if they were, wouldn't that be done the day or surgery or the day prior?

    What's the 2nd pre-op blood test for?

Ohh okay. Wow that must have been scary!
