I still am feeling tired. Judi, I completely understand the education thing. I teach high school so we don't have the conferences and workshops, but we only get 1/2 hour for lunch and during that time, I have to attempt to eat, answer student questions, and email all the whining parents whose kids have B's in CHEMISTRY. Sorry to all of you parents out their that whine to their teachers, but a B is a good grade! Okay so enough venting. I get to work at 5:00 am because I try not to do any work at home. I usually leave work about 6ish and then go home and cook dinner and do laundry, go grocery shopping, attempt to work out, and I have to be in bed by 7:30 or I can't make it the next day. I am on my feet almost all day (I usually sit during my prep period), but otherwise I am running around my classroom trying to prevent the kids from blowing up everything. The hazards of a chemistry teacher.:faint:I eat almost 100 grams of protein a day and faithfully drink my water. I don't know why I am so tired, but I am glad that I am not alone. And yes I do take my multivitamin as well. My weightloss is great. I am down 37 pounds in 2 months and I am very happy with that. Now if I could only conquer the fatigue, life would be fantastic! I will just keep plugging along and I am certain that it will work itself out eventually!

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

I did consider it being the rice, but I have had rice before and I didn't seem to have any problems. The only difference between this meal and any other that I have had is the spiciness. And believe me it was SPICY. I haven't had any problems with the smoothies in the last few hours (though I have only had one), so who knows! Any one else had problems with spicy? -

Thanks for the replies. As my BF and I were sitting here trying to figure out why this might be happening I remembered that I ate some REALLLLY spicy rice just before this whole episode. My nutritionist said that I might not be able to eat spicy food because it would irritate my pouch. I am wondering if this is what is causing it. I have had it for the last two days and the meal after eating the rice always seems to be the worst. I am going to stick with liquids for a few days. Hey maybe I will go back to losing like I did on the liquid diet following surgery. Always looking for the silver lining!!! -

So I have had zero restriction since my fill on Sept 4, and have been okay with that because I am rarely hungry and was still losing significantly. Well starting yesterday I started feeling like everything was getting stuck. I have not PB'd, but have slimed a little. This morning I had a hard time getting my Crystal Light down. Then I tried breakfast (same thing I had for dinner two nights ago) and I thought I was dying. After two bites I was sliming and in incredible pain. I felt like I had swallowed a golf ball and it was stuck right in the middle of my chest. I put the food down and didn't eat anymore. About 2 hours later I tried some oatmeal and it too did the same thing. I can get liquids down so I am going to go back to the liquid diet for a few days. Any one have any ideas what could be going on. If it doesn't go away I will call my doctor on Monday, but I live 5.5 hours (and across a mountain pass) from him. grrrr. -

After I had my first fill, I didn't feel any restriction, but my surgeon must have worked miracles when he put the thing on, cause I rarely get hungry. I have only had one fill, but I was certainly able to drive myself home (all 6 hours worth of the drive). For me it didn't hurt just a little wierd when you feel like you have barium hovering in your throat while the band was overfilled. She then pulled someout obviously, but after that brief experience I knew I didn't want to overeat. Nothing like the wonderful taste of barium and starting to slime all at the same time. :speechles MMM good. Hope this answered one of your questions.

I didn't even know this thread existed! I was banded on August 9th. -
Ahh. I feel like I am doing terrible. My job is crazy right now. I felt like I was in a dream world at the beginning of the school year. I had all this time, the kids were great and turning in work, no meetings, and now ...BAM all at once it seems like I am working 16 hours a day. In fact yesterday, I got to work at 5:15AM and went to bed at 8:30 pm and during that entire duration, I worked all but the half hour that I exercised, and even then I was reading essay questions. So needless to say, I am not working out as much as I want. Fortunately I am one of the lucky ones that is not hungry and am losing weight by being on my feet all day and not eating.

Whew. I finally feel up to jogging and weights, but I can't do 45 minutes like I had originally hoped. Made it 30 minutes tonight. I do circuit training with weights and jogging on the treadmill. Kind of like my own home version of Curves. I just can't do it longer than 30 minutes right now. But it is an intense 30 minutes.

This week has been crazy busy, but I finally got one more day in the books. Grrrrr.

BandChick, Thanks for the award. Sorry i didn't post...I have been so busy at work. Wasn't home until 8 last night and not going to be home until at least that tonight. Whoever said that teachers work 7-3 with weekends and summers off was obviously never a teacher!

Judi I am in the same boat. I am a teacher and get to work about 5:30AM. By the time the bell rings at the end of the day I feel like I have been up for hundreds of hours. I get almost 70-80 grams of Protein a day, so I don't think it is that. Unfortunately I was able to take part in the first day of the October Challenge and then had to miss yesterday because I was in meetings until 8 pm and then tonight I have students working on projects until 8 PM. So maybe it is the exercise, but I got it last month and it didn't help me much. I go to bed usually by 8 and sometimes it is even earlier than that. Hopefully we will figure it out!

Don't get discouraged. We all lose at different speeds. It is not fair to judge ourselves against others because we are all unique. I am a scientist so I have had plenty of classes that have shown me how complex the human body is. There are so many factors that go into how many pounds we lose. Here are a couple of things that I have learned: *Too many calories - gain weight:cry *Too few calories - body feels like it starving and you stop losing weight:omg: *No exercise - you may start to lose muscle, scale shows you are losing weight, but you may not be losing fat:cry *Exercising - you may lose fat but gain muscle so your scale shows a gain or no loss. Frustrating...yes! :angry That is why it takes patience. If the scale is going to make you pull your hair out, trade it in for a measuring tape and start measuring yourself. All of this may be a mute point once you get your fill... but if not, I hope it helped. -

Yeah! I finished the challenge and exceeded it by one! I went out of town this weekend to visit some friends, but made sure that I got my walking in!! 22/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

Walk, walk, walk. I will be so glad when we get our DVD player hooked up in the room that my treadmill is in. I am getting really tired of looking at the same spot in the room. The music just isn't keeping my eyes off of that dang clock that ticks away so slowly! 18/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

My doctor does not want me on nutritional liquids so I don't drink any of the Proteins, but I don't eat anything that isn't high in Protein. So here is a typical day for me Breakfast - eggs of some sort or lean turkey sausage or chicken lunch - turkey meatloaf, chili, chicken, (leftovers from dinner) dinner - Anything that has a lot of meat in it. Snack (if I have one) - light cheese sticks/ lf cottage cheese If you don't mind eating non-breakfast food for breakfast, you can pack in some protein there by adding more meat. If I feel like I am not getting enough protein, then I will eat a Protein Bar or add some non-flavored protein powder to my meal if possible. I did atkins for so many years so I learned how to get creative with proteins. Candle is right... getting in the hard proteins helps you stay fuller longer. Hope that helps

I finally had to take a day off from walking, but I think I may have gotten in more exercise than normal. I chaperoned a school dance and probably walked around the perimeter of the commons about 100 times. However it wasn't "mindful exercise" so I didn't count it! 15/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

Claramae, You probably did not over eat. I am never hungry and so I worry that I am eating too much because I don't know when I get satisfied. I try to eat about 3/4 to 1 cup of food because otherwise I don't get close to my goal of 1000 calories. I know that some people eat significantly less calories, but I have found that for me, if I don't eat close to that I stop losing weight. I don't know how big your salmon patty was, but what you wrote sounds reasonable to me. As my nurse told me, milk not being hungry for as long as you can!! -
I haven't been very good at posting, but I have been exercising and I guess that is the important part. I walk at least 1/2 hour though last night it was a little longer because football was on and I finished watching the game. 11/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

So excited today! Stepped on the scale and I am down a total of 25 pounds. That is 1/4 of the way to my total goal! Now if my Seahawks win today, it will be the cherry on the ice cream sundae that I am not going to eat. Have a good weekend. -

I had my first fill on the 4th and the nurse put 3.6cc in. She said that was about average. I know I have the new AP band, but I don't know how big it is. I have zero restriction, but I am one of the lucky ones who aren't very hungry so it is not a problem.
