February/March 08 plastics

Yes it has been QUITE the journey, but I ended up with a doc that I am more comforatable with so I am very happy. By the way...How long did your surgery take? -
Does everyone need PS?
salsa1877 replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yeah I wouldn't go out on a beach without full on gear. I was fat for 20 years and carried ALL of my weight on my tummy. Even at 250 pounds I had scultped thighs, calves and not half bad arms. However after losing this weight I look like a deflated Jabba-the Hut from Star Wars. For me I actually do NEED the surgery. The excess skin is causing some back problems. I could live with them, but I am fortunate that I can somewhat afford to do this so I did. I have NO expectations to ever be able to wear a bikini even after surgery! -

LJM - You are quite the trooper and your pics are fabulous. YEAH! I FINALLY got a surgeon that didn't jack up the prices, who was very understanding about my situation and time frame (must have it done EARLY in July since I am a teacher), AND was familiar with WLS patience. So I am scheduled for my surgery July 3...Two days after my b-day. Best birthday present EVER! My question to you is how long were you in surgery? She quoted me 6 hours. I am going to have an extended TT with a vertical t-incision, possible MR, and she throws in the mons lift. Yeah, no lipo! I didn't want to be itching!!! -
Does everyone need PS?
salsa1877 replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I agree with Jachut...worry about the weightloss first. When I started this process 8 months ago I said I would never have PS and focused only on weightloss. 8 months and 91 pounds later...NOW I have to focus on PS. It wasn't until I was almost at goal that I finally allowed myself to start thinking about body contouring. So lose the weight, workout (it will help some!), and know that if you do need PS that there is a surgeon that will help you. MOST of the time, you will not NEED it...but you may WANT it. -
I guess you could say that. Not to take the romanticism out of our wedding but we needed my DH to be able to take a leave when I have my tummy tuck (YEAH JUST SCHEDULED TODAY!) and we needed to add him to my ins so we needed the legal piece of paper. So we got the license and got married 6 days later! Thanks for the compliments everyone! We truly had a blast!

FINALLY GOOD NEWS! The waiting, wondering, and worrying are all over. Just like everyone said the best situation would appear. Thanks for putting up with me:wub:. This doctor blew me out of the water. She answered all of my questions BEFORE I even asked them. She detailed EVERYTHING that I would go through. So the price was a little higher than I had hoped, but is still within my budget. My surgery will be July 3. Two days after my birthday!!!! The greatest b-day gift I will ever get!

Good job ladies. NO COOKIES. Amen to what Janet says. This is precisely the reason that we do NOT have anything bad in our house. FINALLY GOOD NEWS!:crying: The waiting, wondering, and worrying are all over. Just like everyone said the best situation would appear. Thanks for putting up with me:wub:. Well I have been up since before 4AM so I am going to go take a nap and then go to the gym. Have to post on my other threads but will talk later. REMEMBER. NO COOKIES!

Me either. I was never one of those girls that dreamed about their wedding. I really don't like being the center of attention so this was perfect. Very small gathering and it was hillarious.

Another PB...What is up? I didn't think I was eating too quickly but this time I PB'd on cereal and yogurt. Much better than fish and spinach, but still not something I am happy with. This is really weird because I have only PB'd once before and now this is twice in 3 days. PS consult in 6 hours. Toes and fingers crossed please!

We did have a great time and we thought the ring pop was fitting! I always wanted a big ruby!

I RAN 2 MILES STRAIGHT!:thumbup: I have been striving for this milestone for a while and I finally got there today. I probably could have kept going but I got bored! That is my biggest problem with cardio is that I just get bored. I did 1.5 hours tonight with a mix of cardio and weights.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
salsa1877 replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You really do inspire me. In fact I was thinking of you today when I was running on the treadmill and hit the 1.5 mile mark. I thought if whosya can do it, I can make it to 2 miles and I did. I know that I never thought that I could be an inspiration to anyone, but now we ALL can! Thanks! -
It is kind of hard to tell from the pics but I look JUST like my dad. More so when I was fatter but, I don't look a thing like my mom. And my DH is a cutie pie. And so great! Just love him to pieces. Even when he eats cookies in front of me! So I just got back from the gym and guess what....I RAN 2 STRAIGHT MILES! No stopping no slowing down I just ran. I could have gone further but I got bored. That is my biggest problem with cardio...I get bored too quickly. When lifting weights there is something to focus on, but when you are running, not so much! Well I am turning into my band mommy. I haven't eaten dinner yet and this is WAAAAAYYYY past dinner time for me! Then I have to look up some applications for my DH to apply for. Just heard on the news that the local airport is hiring TSA agents so that will make his 30th application of the month! He has got to find something!

Here are the second set! My shirt was way too big as you can see, but these were our Valentine's gifts to each other a couple of years ago so we thought it was fitting. Plus it showed just how nerdy we both are! Wedding Pictures 2.bmp

Okay here they are. You can see just how much fun we have. Wedding Pictures 1.bmp

Because he says that it is going to be that complex. In my opinion he just doesn't want to do the surgery. He flat out told me that I would not be happy with the results because of the lack of elasticity in my skin and the fact that I will essentially have a vertical scar going from groin to breast. No matter how much I reassured him that I just wanted these awful rolls gone, he wasn't convinced. So they are claiming because of the extensive MR (which my lap-band surgeon didn't even think I would need) that it is going to take much longer. Also they are figuring that the after care is going to be much more extensive so it is going to cost me more. I think it will be better to get a second opinion anyways. I know my belly looks horrific but I didn't think it was THAT bad. I NEVER plan on wearing a bikini and the only one that is going to see my scar is my DH so it is not a big deal to me. Fortunately the doctor in town was able to get me in tomorrow and her receptionist has been incredibly nice and helpful so I this whole catastrophe may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Thanks for riding along in my crazy roller coaster ride. I guess this is fitting since my whole lap-band process started on July 10 and ended on August 9 with ZERO drama.

I think I am going to stop posting because every time I do there is another new piece of drama. Want to hear the rest? First the surgeon quoted me 6500 + 2000 for surgery center and anethesiologist. Today they call back and quote 9998 + 3500.:frown: I can't afford that. So I called the doc that is in town, explained the situation again and the got me in for a consult TOMORROW! The receptionist said that she had never seen the doc charge that much for a TT even if it was an extended TT. Seriously this has been the roller coaster ride from hell!
-
I am here I just have been dealing with Plastic Surgery issues. Now the doc that I was going to in Portland called me with the revised price and it is up to 13500$ I can't afford that at all. So I am going to the consult with the doc in town tomorrow. They were good enough to push the consult up so that I could figure out the financing issues. This seriously has been a bumpy ride. Then there is the fill issue. I am sure that my tummy is inflammed from the pb'ing issues yesterday but I could hardly get anything down today. I didn't eat my lunch but had crackers instead because they would go down. I may have to break down and go get more of an unfill because I don't know that I can keep this up until June. But on a good note I did just get my wedding pictures, so when I get home I will put them together in a collage and post them. They aren't great, but the do show how much fun we had. Just so you know, my DH doesn't like to smile for pictures!

I think I ate the spinach too fast. It wasn't the fish that caused the problems, it was the spinach. I pb'd for about 20 minutes. YUCKY! Well I am off to bed. I am exhausted. This has been a crazy day!
-
Still stuck with this stupid fish and spinach! Just doesn't taste as good coming back up. However MORE good news!! Alright so should we add another loop-de-loop in the roller coaster ride of Karri's plastic surgery journey. The original doc that I saw called back today and after consultation with the nurses and anesthesiologist agreed to do the surgery as long as I stay with my SIL. YEAH I really liked this guy. Plus it will be totally financed and I already had the payment arragments met. So we have tenatively scheduled surgery for June 20th. I wanted to secure the date because his next opening at the surgery center was July 18th and I didn't want to wait that long. Yipee!!!

Ughhhh... Salmon and sauteed spinach...NOT a good PB combo!

I posted this on the wrong thread! So I did my workout yesterday. 1.5 hours cardio and weights combined. So I have a crazy nutritionist that has told me because I can't eat enough food to stop losing weight, and I refuse to start eating crappy foods, that she wants me to slow down on the exercise. So I will agree to only do 4 days a week now. We will see how that affects my challenge. I may have to drop it by 5 hous and only do 20 hours a month. I had a huge rant on another board so if anyone wants to see what she said to me, let me know and you too can feel my frustration!
-
Yeah most have the scar all the way across. And to make you cringe even more, mine will have the scar going horizontally from hip to hip and then a vertical incision that will extend from belt line to the chest once the skin is stretched. But it will be so worth it. It is really discouraging to lose all this weight and then look in the mirror and feel like you haven't lost a thing. The doc that I just went to see said he could easily remove 10+ pounds of just skin.

Pre-bander questions for those at Goal?

Good luck with your journey. This was by far the best thing that I have ever done for myself.
