  2. Karey I think you absolutely made the right choice in keeping your band. My doc told me that those that have any type of WLS reversal have a 95% chance of regaining their weight. No matter how thin you are or how much you have changed your lifestyle. Just the mere presence of the band helps with satiety and the prevention of too much overeating. I am so happy that you were able to keep yours. Hope you feel better. Have you tried Isopure Protein drinks. They are fruit flavored and are as thin as Water. Though beware...even though they are wet...they can dry your mouth out. They are not too bad flavor wise though....just make sure they are REALLY cold.

Candice your picture is great. I climbed a mountain about the same height as yours 2 years ago. It was an exhilerating feeling. Fortunately we didn't have the bugs Phyl - I hope your DD is feeling better and that you are getting some rest. Steph - Sorry you are so tired. I know the feeling. My PS warned me that for some reason you can feel really drained of energy during the 3rd week after PS. I totally get it. I am exhausted. Didn't help that we went and saw the midnight showing of The Dark Knight last night. TOTALLY worth it though. If anyone has a chance to see the movie they should. It was seriously the best movie I have ever seen. Janet - I tried to do a little shopping yesterday, but it is so overwhelming to me. I am freaked out a little bit cause I have 1 pair of size 4 pants that fit nicely when I am swollen and are a little big when I am not. Then I have 3 shirts that fit. That is it. My closet looks totally bare. Right now I am wearing my ultra fat clothes (Yep some of the ones I wore before surgery) to lounge around the house in. My binders are so tight so it is nice to have some loose fitting clothes on. We went to JC Pennys and Target yesterday and I couldn't bring myself to buy anything. DH had an interview yesterday and should hear sometime next week if he got the job. I SOOOOO hope he does. Right now I am paying every bill and believe me...teachers don't make that much money. Well the drainage has stopped gushing today. I have to "milk" my tummy area 3 times per day though to try and squeeze the drainage out. PS thinks that we may have pulled out the drains a little too soon even though I was WAY under the drainage volume. So I just tell everyone that I sprung a leak. I have to say I was a little worried when it happened yesterday. PS said that it isn't unheard of but when you have fluids coming out of your belly...it is scary as hell. Well I am going to try and convince hubby to let me go for a walk tonight. We opted to not go last night because of the leakage. I would like to go for a bit today though.
  5. Happy Birthday Becky! Frangi - Great to hear the drain is out. We apparently took mine out a little too soon. I am leaking out of the incision. So like Kat I have a feminine pad across my belly. Hope your swelling stays down. I look like I have swallowed a watermelon today.

    Salsa's Summer Surgery!

Forgot to post this here yesterday: So when I sat down to eat my breakfast this morning...this is the sight that greeted me on my t-shirt. At first I thought I had spilled something on me when I was making breakfast but after further investigation I realized that I was leaking out of my incision. Off to the doctor we go. On the way there I leaked through three gauze pads, my underwear, and another t-shirt. *Sigh* PS said it was alright and not all that uncommon. She said even though the drains were low when she took them out that I may have needed them longer. She said she would rather have the liquid coming out than staying in. So in order to protect my clothes I am wearing a feminine pad across my belly. Talk about sexy! She also didn't like the way my binder was fitting so she is ordering me a new one. All part of the cost! So I should be getting a binder that is a little longer so that it can cover the entire belly. She is having it sent fed ex to us so we should get it tomorrow. Other than that all is well. I went back to lower carb today because when I woke up this morning my face was all swollen. I realized that I was eating a lot of carbs lately because they are easy. However, they are causing some issues and I think contributing to my swelling. So for the next few days I am going to eat high protein and low carb. Yes I ran it by the doc and she said she doesn't care as long as I get my calories and my protein. Well I think low carb qualifies!

    thanks She!

Yep. It would really hurt my port area and my back. If I didn't wear a body shaping compression garment I was in incredible pain. It would hurt to breathe because of my port. Sorry to hear about your pain...it sucks!
  8. OMG Karey! I am sorry to hear that you had to have surgery but fortunately you were able to keep your band. That is scary. Glad everything worked out well for you though. Take it easy. No point in losing weight if you can't be around to enjoy it. The weight will come off. Do they know what caused the slip?

    thanks She!

I have made the solemn promise that I will not run until I have been given full clearance by my PS. Then if it hurts I will back off as well. Despite what other people think on other boards I am not wreckless. I listen to my body and my doctor's orders. It is going to be at least 5 weeks before she gives me clearance to run. However I do have clearance to walk and starting next week I can go up to an hour. So I can still get in about 3 miles per day.

    thanks She!

When I told my hubby he just gave me the "look". Then he told me that it was fine if I participated in the challenge but that I was not going to run, that I was not going to push myself, and that he was still going with me. So I caved and said fine to his demands. At least it will still give me motivation. Plus it will give me motivation to come back and kick your heiny when I am back to full speed!
  11. Becky - I think your driver's license is wrong...there is no way you are 50! You look FANTASTIC. And that smile...I love it!

Congrats Janet! Happy Bandiversary! If anyone is interested, I put pictures from surgery on my blog last night. If you have a sensitive stomach though you might not want to check them out. But there is a picture of all the skin that they removed. HOLY cow...there was a lot of skin.

Seriously froggi I think I almost busted a stich when you quoted her...but you are right...I have liked you since I first met you. I honestly have to say that I believe that you will do FANTASTIC with the band. You have the right mentality and determination. As for opening your mouth...I have learned to shut mine a bit more now, but earlier in life when people called me a bitch...I thanked them and thought it was a compliment. As a teacher...I have to be more diplomatic and it has spilled into everyday life. Though I have to say I really had to bite my tongue last night when someone told me that I shouldn't get a fill at all because I am at goal even though I am hungry. She told me that I should figure out where my hunger is coming from. Maybe it was in my head. This was on my "home" thread. But I replied with a very curt one liner and then I was done. Really had to fight myselt to not just throttle her.

Yep...I think a good ol' 2x4 might be needed...though I don't think it will help. I went 1 week only being able to get down protein shakes and popcorn and I thought I was going to die.

Wow I missed that part. If you blow your hat I will catch it and give it back to you! She will get a dose of reality. You just can't live like that it...your body just isn't meant to do so.

okay... I couldn't stay in the chat room. She is an f'ing idiot. No way in hell a doctor would approve her diet...and if they did they need to be stripped of their medical license. WOW I though my doc that told me that it was alright to pass out as long as you were within 20 feet of the bathroom was an A #1 moron....I guess there is actually a stupider one out there. I guess it would make a good patient/doctor fit. OY VEH!

Thanks... Yeah I would say 48 hours might be pushing it a bit. I wish I would get sore...then I wouldn't be so freaking anxious to get out there.

I haven't PB'd many times, but I definetly know when it is coming. I usually feel like I have swallowed an elephant...sideways. Then my mouth starts watering a bit...and up it comes. It isn't like a normal throw up incident though. I have never had the acid...just a lot of really thick slime. Mmmmm....this conversation is as yummy as that god awful 12 food sandwich Froggi posted!
  24. salsa1877

    thanks She!

Jacqui - I never could be tight. I stayed pretty loose the entire time I was losing. A 1/2 cup of food is not enough...especially when we are running. I have been unfilled since March but I am going to get a VERY tiny fill in August because my hunger is coming back with a vengence. I think I could eat everything in the kitchen if I allowed myself. I struggled right after surgery to eat anything...but now...YIKES! Glad you feel better. Good luck with your run. I WANNA RUN...but I just need patience. (NOt a strong suit for me!)

LMBA as soon as I read your post, one person came immediately to mind. Then I started digging...and yep I was right. Wow that is scary that we can immediately pick up on the idiocy of posts.
