4 years after surgery gained 50 pounds
sgc324 replied to Ingrid33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are beautiful. Don't worry about the 50 pounds. You took it off once, you can certainly do it again. I'm always amazed on how people to gain weight again because I thought the stomach was the size of an egg and I am petrified of the malabsorption and the dumping.. I only say that because I have no clue as to what goes on. You'll be fine. Best wishes to you always! -

OMG I am so sorry for the delay in responding. I've tried every way I could but the app wouldn't let me for some reason. I think that I can continue to respond now I hope. Unfortunately I did not and as of right now, have no plans to. Hope that you are well and best wishes to you in whatever you do. -

SIPS - stomach intestinal pylorus sparing
sgc324 replied to jennalia's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello all and blessings to you on your weight loss successes. Just one question about the SIPS. Forgive me for being a dummy, but I was just under the assumption that if they save the pylorus valve, then all the plumbing is normal and there is no malabsorption, basically. Also, if it is a cure for Acid Reflux as well as Diabetes among the other common diseases just like the gastric bypass is. Thank you so much for your kindness. Stephen -

Good morning my Bronx friends. Just a check in to say hello to you and wish you a nice day. Thank you so much for sharing your stories. Another thing that I forgot to mention is that I eat fast when I'm on the go or basically everyday which I know is not allowed. That's something that I am not willing to give up. I am alone a lot also and its so true that we want to eat everything. I get so depressed and am so scared that if I start eating, I could become very sick. I don't want to live like that. I can't live like this for sure but I just can't get over the malabsorption and the dumping. I don't qualify for any of the other surgeries because I've had previous bariatric surgeries and screwed everything up. -

thank you so much trust and believe this app has gave me great hope and sure would like that alot i have alot of people around me that i truely want to see me fail and it was not untill i made this choice is when i realized that i am acually on my own this time . It's my pleasure to help. We are here for you. I commend you on your decision because it is something that I just cannot bring myself to do. I already have health issues so the gastric bypass is the only thing that my doctors are suggesting. I'm so so petrified. -

Oh wow we are all like neighbors! Lol. I'm in Throggs Neck. It's great to hear your story MSWDiet. What an inspiration. So if I may ask do you still experience dumping and all of that other stuff associated with the rny? That's one thing that I am petrified of in addition to the malabsorption. It's a lifestyle change that I am not willing to make and I feel really so sad when I look at people that have no problems eating and I do. -

Nobody knows your body and how bad or good you feel better than you. You cannot live your life according to what other people say or think. Believe me as petrified as I am about the bypass, if I ever became a diabetic, I would be on the operating table the next day because I would rather live with 1,000 bypasses before I would risk either going blind or have my hands and/or feet go black and possibly having them amputated. For what? Just so I can eat a damn Oreo or a piece of cake? Oh no, not happening! Not in my lifetime anyway. I wouldn't think twice. Please feel free to talk anytime if you like. Be blessed. Good morning. Nice to hear from you. Of the two, I would have the bypass personally for two reasons. Even though there's malabsorption, I would be petrified to live with diabetes, if I were ever to get it. Secondly, if you already have terrible reflux, the sleeve will only make it worse. Luckily, the bypass is a cure for that too. Hope this helps and please feel free to talk if you need to. I'm in the same boat with fear about this bypass as well but I know lots of people that have had it and swear that it's the best thing that they ever did because their whole life has changed. Have a nice day. -

Oh wow, I work around the hunts point area. Anyway, yes it does cure acid reflux as well as diabetes. If I had diabetes I most certainly would have that operation in two seconds flat rather than living like that. On the other hand, I cannot take the malabsorption and the rerouting of the intestines and all that other good stuff as well as the dumping. Have a nice day and nice talking to you. Be blessed. -
Any New York pre op sleevers?
sgc324 replied to yvettemillicent@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a different bariatric surgery at Lennox Hill with Dr. ROSLIN. He is an amazing surgeon but I am petrified of the bypass because of the malabsorption and the dumping. -

Yes I also am from the Bronx by Pelham Bay and it is heartbreaking reading your story. I'll lay all my cards on the table. I would have the gastric bypass but I am so petrified of the malabsorption and the dumping as well as not being able to eat and drink together and/or eating fast. Please know that I am here to talk whenever you need. Be blessed with all of God's good graces.... -

Good morning. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You have wonderful memories for 18 years that no time can ever erase. You are a good friend and a source of inspiration to us all. -
I never drank soda so it's not something that I would miss. I have become so used to decaffinated that it just doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that when I have this surgery, I will not be able to eat and drink. Also, I would have to have a little sugar in my coffee because I am allergic to the artificial sweetners.
