I've been a serious yoga practitioner for almost 7 years. I practice vinyasa and ashtanga yoga, which are very vigorous and active yoga practices-- and I teach vinyasa yoga. I am considering the lap band surgery, but I'm concerned about whether the port and other pieces would cause discomfort in some poses, especially deep twists. Have any of you experienced any discomfort while doing twists or any other postures that engage the abdominal muscles (navasana or boat pose, for instance)?
