I'm a month away from surgery and trying to get prepared for this new way of life. Do people use a food scale post-op? Is it just for weight of food and you figure out calories/protein seperately? Any help is greatly appreciated

I had complication of low hematocrit so instead of going home in 48 hours I had to stay till 3 days. They gave me a unit of blood. It took until 10 pm so I got home Friday 230 pm. I feel worse at home than in the hospital. Probably because dog and wife expect me to pick right up.

Good luck today, MzShay!

On the losers bench! YAY! I've had a miserable night but its almost over. Today is water very slowly and with God's blessing some broth tonight. My phone is my entertainment because I will *not* pay $10 a day for the t.v. I hope you end-of-the-month losers are doing ok too.
-
T-T, your goal weight is the same as mine! I am starting a bit higher than you, tho--258 before the 2-week diet. Glad to hear you are doing ok.

Oh, Mz Shay! I hope everything goes well with the endoscopy for you. I still have my endoscopy on Wednesday, the semi-liquid diet and I have to make certain that I do not have a yeast infection going on in the area where the incisions will be. Today went ok other than my nerves.

I'm nervously sitting in the waiting room for my pre-op appointment. I've been dreaming about this, because I don't know what to expect. Sx date is 8/27. Hopefully this will go smoothly. Just wanted to share my nerves!

Mjlange68, Congrats on making it to the losers' bench! I hope it is smooth sailing over here too. It's still a bit scary *not knowing* if I'll get through these last 3 weeks. OMG! It really is just 3 more weeks!! I hope you continue to heal.

I'm optimistic for us both, Mz Shay. I keep putting the results into God's Hands and do my part by showing up & eating right. That's all we can do.

Ah. Ok. Well I had one 2 years ago and it was fine. My surgeon wants one within 3 months of surgery, though. I've been on omeprazole for a few years now though because of heartburn. And I love spice!

LOL! I have fibro and I am so hoping that I get all the energy people talk about.

What's an EGd? Did they say what caused the inflammation? I have an endoscopy scheduled the 14th, and the pre-op appointment is the 9th.

Me too! So far you and I end the month with 27 & 28 :-) I am thinking that I will have *nothing* to wear next summer & it will be because I will be much smaller :-)

That's good to know! It is a detail that I wouldn't have thought of. Thanks for the info

PrettyNpink, my last scope was fine too. I just can't afford to rock the boat too much up there--they've been cool about getting monthly checkins from my providers locally. I have to travel more than an hour away from home because Medicare doesn't reimburse my local hospital's bariatric program. (I'm on disability for something else.) I figure, I need to jump through their hoops until I'm free & clear post-surgery (a ways down the road yet) then I'll get the local folks here back on board and stop driving up there.

I start my preop on the 12th as well. 2 weeks to preop diet, pre-op physical and anesthesia visit on the 9th; endoscopy scheduled for the 14th. The latter is something being added on last minute, as I had one 2 years ago but the doc wants one within 3 months. Crazy time right now.

I have my preop appointment on the 9th. I start semi-liquid diet on the 12th. Time is getting short! I will be having Glucose-controlled Boost 4x/day and one lean protein + 2 cups non-starchy vegetables for dinner. The idea is to get the carbs way down

You go, girl! If you think you're hungry, ask yourself if it's stomach hunger or your brain... That has been working for me...

Thanks for putting this list together, Tina! Looks like I'm in the last spot so far in August
