Good luck with the approval! My suggestion is to prepare yourself mentally for the changes. I think many people here mentioned head hunger as one of the things they learn to control. Stick with the forum or sign up with local support group keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Yup! It's all the protein in the shakes! It was bad the first week for me, then it got easier because I increased water intake and all I was having were liquids; I guess there was nothing to be constipated with. My advice is more water, if at all possible Which day are you on?

First day pre-op diet- SO HUNGRY!
ponchik replied to katie206's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at the ond of 2 week fluid diet and I was soooo hungry for the first week, I had boiled egg twice. You can at least have some normal food, so cherish that I was ready to kill for a plain tomato with salt and pepper Now I recognize this was head hunger, you just crave chewing... I made it through 2 weeks and I'll be having my surgery on Monday. I wish you patience and don't think how many days you have left, think how many already have passed! Good luck!! -
Oh no... On the other hand many people here get denied the first time around. They probably didnt get the paperwork right or something was missing. Don't get discouraged and be persistent! Both of you keeping my fingers crossed!

antibiotics before surgery?
ponchik replied to blueeyezz85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doctor once said that it would be ok to take antibiotics (for UTI) but to stop 3-4 days before the surgery. All doctors are different, so better ask their office. Oh, and you may not be able to take some of them if you are on liquid diet.... Some antibiotics need to be taken with food, after meal, etc... -
good luck! I was waiting about 10 days, but some people here get their approval in hours

1st day liquid diet before my surgery
ponchik replied to adri6873's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All doctors I know of restrict coffee and caffeine... I quit before the liquid diet. I'd say start with decaf... -
... Is temporarily... I'm keeping my fingers crossed vent here if needed

Feeling so frustrated!
ponchik replied to Ammariehs mommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hah, I feel exactly the same... I concur what other people say, whatever you drink and eat stays in you, until you pee, so our required 65oz (around 1/2 gallon) a day is over 4 lbs!!! Other thing is that I have a scale that I got for 4.99 at target some years back. Not very accurate... And for years I would stand on that dreaded doc office scale with my back to it, So I don't have to see it! I would tell the nurse that I don't want to know how much I weight ... Now I see my med history and realize that I was living in denial :-( don't worry and schedule last weight in the office in the morning hugs! -
I think it is local, not low-cal though... I got so excited when I saw this topic I loooove avocados

Low white blood cell count?
ponchik replied to missysue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a doctor, but I'd be worried when white blood cells are too high, that means that body is constatnly fighthing - white blood cells are disease-fighting cells. Also, not all ethnic groups are in the same range of what is consoder to be normal (ie Caucasian women to have white blood cell counts that fall slightly below the normal reference ranges), plus different laboratories classify low white blood cell counts differently. I am thinking surfeon may be concerned because low white blood cell count puts you at higher risk for bacterial infections... Do not be too concerned, do what he tells you to do, I am sure this is just a precaution. Good luck!!! -
hah, this sounds like fun! It would definitely make my experience better 10 more days, yay!
-
Oh my gosh, this went fast!!! Congrats to both of you!!! I hope post op is a smooth sail as well; I bet it is awesome, to have your spouse going through the same thing at the same time, support is so important... and I guess going through liquid diet '(if you had to) is so much easier done together Again, yay for you guys!

ponchik replied to PittGuy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree! You don't realize how many food shows and commercials are there until all you can eat is protein shake and jell-o! Lunch time at work is hard too, all the smells I am still preop, sorry for creeping in your thread, but I am looking for inspiration -
Yay! Hope you are not freaking out oo much :) Good luck!
