Surgery August 15th and waiting on insurance approval... NERVOUS!
ponchik replied to liane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBC, but my approval paperwork was sent right before 4th of July, so I had to wait 10 days. My advice would be do everything to disctact your mind. I couldn't focus or sleep for the 10 days, but after week had passed from submition, I was calling every day On a positive note - I hear that other people with BCBC are approved in couple days, one girl here got a call within 2 hours Good luck! -
You are strong woman, you can do it! I know it isn;t easy with 3 kids... keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Oh my, I would love to try horseback riding, but I was always afraid that horse would get hurt or kick me off... It is also one of the things I'd love to try when I lose weight... I guess it would be similar to riding a bike, no? You'd adjust to different G forces after few moments... I imagine :)

Has anyone cheated on their pre op diet
ponchik replied to taraster25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 3 and cheated a little already. Not proud of it... I made chicken broth with carrots and broccoli, added couple pieces of laughing cow wedges (for creamier texture) and used handheld blender to pulp it all together. I've been eating that for lunch yesterday and today... Cannot stomach jell-o. -

what whey protein powder do you like best and where can I get it?
ponchik replied to wkjulius's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GNC sells sample pack of their protein light powder. I tried all favors and settled for vanilla bean with few drops of peach water enhancer -
If you have kindle or kindle app on your tablet/phone, search amazon kindle store, there is a lot to chose from and they are mostly below $10.

I didn't say a lot, just that I am having a medical procedure done, but my HR knows, because they saw FMLA paperwork. I am little worried that this information will leak out... I hate gossips in the office!

What to expect post op...
ponchik replied to cfranklin526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me no catheter is needed, the urge to go to the bathroom makes you walk as soon as possible which is good for gas pain; release is the next day for laparoscopic procedures, for open ones -3 days, if I am not mistaken. I agree with comments about hospital pillows, they do suck! -
Awesome, good luck!!! 9/12 is gonna be here before you know it!

Water, water water!!! Most cause of bad breath is that you are not drinking enough of clear fluids (no flavor). It helps washing away that bad bacteria

ponchik replied to WildGrits's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He/she will ask you to say what usually you eat, how often, if you know how to read labels, basically will determine how you eat now and will help you modify your eating habits to be successful pre and post op -

Surgery postponed due to pregnancy
ponchik replied to clarinetqueen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe it is possible, especially if your bmi is high. Not sure if this is also true in your case, but I had my insurance approval only for 12 months, so unless yours is different, you may need to go through the pre-approval process again... Congrats on the pregnancy, my twins also postponed my plans for the surgery, though I wasn't approved yet at that time. Hope everything goes well!!! -
Good luck!!! How long is your liquid diet?
-
Wow! only 3 weeks left and you'll be done!!! Lucky you

why does everyone think every illness is related to RNY?
ponchik replied to cookier224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually think this may be true, or at least partially. I am not a doctor, bur after RNY you are malabsorbing not only the calories, but vitamins and minerals as well. After that comes lower immunity and you catch majority of the bugs.,. -

Lucky you! Maybe the length of the diet depends on initial weight? I don't know, but I know I'd be happier with 3 days instead 2 weeks
