Oops! I just realized that I misread your post. You just got a fill NOT surgery. Well, good luck getting through the liquid phase. As you probably know by now, the hunger is totally worth it. LOL at your post, which is why I responded to it :thumbup:

Hi Minipinmom, Congrats on being banded! LOL, I know exactly what cat food commercial you were watching -- Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys, and my two cats (aged 19 and 2) are here to tell you that your mouth should be watering! In fact they both recommend that you eat this wonderful food exclusively during your mushy phase. The herbs help a lot with hairballs too!:thumbup: I was also starving right after my surgery -- so I feel your pain. Unfortunately there's really not a lot that can be done about it, that I know of. I considered it to be a good sign that my body tolerated the new band and the surgery well. I wish I had some suggestions for you during the liquid phase, but I really don't. I just ate lots of sugar-free Jello, and tried to make my broths as tasty as possible. The good news is that this hunger will all be worth it. I can just about guarantee that you will be thrilled with your rapid weight loss during this phase. Good luck! Banded on the 16th and feeling blue
Frangipani replied to Rebecca1203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rebecca, don't despair. Luscious is right, your "blues" could very well be due to the anesthesia. I have had a few surgeries for various things through the years and I have a reaction like this every single time to general anesthesia. The first time it happened it worried me and everyone around me because it caused an abrupt change in my personality, but I was back to normal within a week. Drink as much Water as you can to help flush those powerful drugs out of your system, and if it at all possible, do some light exercise, like walking. Congrats on being banded!!! This Band is an amazing thing and trust me, it won't be long before you too will be a success story!:smile::crying: Crazy Ates April Exercise Challenge 17/30 Exercise Sessions (10 Cardio, 6 Core Strength and Flexibility, 1 Weight Training) Banded 8/07/07 Dr. Miguel Zapata, Monterrey Mexico -
Thanks Globally Yours -- you're such a sweetie! And guess what? I just weighed in and I have officially moved out of the "Obese" category and am now officially "Overweight" . Whoo Hoo! I have never been so happy to be "Overweight" in my life:Banane57: Crazy Ates April Exercise Challenge 17/30 Exercise Sessions (10 Cardio, 6 Core Strength and Flexibility, 1 Weight Training) Banded 8/07/07 Dr. Miguel Zapata, Monterrey Mexico

Okay guys, this is a huge step for me because I have NEVER posted photos of myself online, but since I seem to be the only "faceless" Crazy Ate at this point, I will share. I am still officially "obese" with a significant amount of weight left to lose, but the improvement thus far is making me feel a lot better. So, this is a good record of the "mid-way point," if nothing else. The "before" picture was taken the day before surgery (badly overexposed -- sorry about that). The "after" photo was taken today in front of my home. Melissa and Salsa I totally agree with you regarding cardio machines. I am an outdoor girl, and when I'm forced to do the machines indoors I can only endure them if I'm able to rotate machines every 15 minutes or so. I got two workouts in today -- one hour of cardio and one hour of weight training (arms/upper body). Have a great night everyone! Dr. Miguel Zapata & Ready 4 A Change
Frangipani replied to charliemac's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Charliemac, I was banded by Dr. Zapata last August. I am one of these people who researches everything down to the very last detail, and all I ever managed find about Dr. Zapata were glowing comments. I in fact, never found a single negative comment about him anywhere, which is still true to this day. My own experience in Mexico has confirmed this. Dr. Zapata is excellent and a first-rate professional. He is also a very kind and warm person with a wonderful bedside manner. Dr. Zapata has a tremendous amount of experience with banding, and is definitely one of the top surgeons in Mexico when it comes to this procedure. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. alma with Ready4Achange is wonderful too and she will take very good care of you while you're in Monterrey. The hospital where the surgery is done is beautiful, clean and modern. If you do a name search for Dr. Zapata on this board you will find many other positive comments about him as well. Good luck and feel free to post or PM me if you have any other questions! This Lab Band is a wonderful thing, and I am so glad I had this surgery. I believe you will feel the same once you start your journey. Hi, Just getting caught up on my exercise postings............. I got two cardio workouts in while I was away and today was my usual "Triple Thursday," one hour of cardio, a 30 minute pilates/abdominals class, and one hour of Yoga. Salsa, WOW! What a surprise to log on and discover that you got married. Congratulations and very best wishes to both of you!!!! I hope you enjoy to the fullest each of your days as a new bride, as this is a very special and lovely time of life. Pizzi, congratulations in advance on the job and the move to San Diego. I never doubted for a minute that this would come through for you, but it's great to see that the deal is nearly sealed and you will be on your way soon!!! Have a great night everybody! Happy Birthday Jody !!!! Sounds like you're having a wonderful day too ! I'd say you've got yourself a great husband there. Any man who gives his wife a large storage piece for her jewelry has obviously already given her enough jewelry to fill it up -- or at least intends to. Well, I'm off to a sluggish start with the workouts this month. Frankly, I'm getting just a wee bit bored with my routine and I need to do something to spice it up. I thought about buying that Pole Dancing book that Whosyadaddy recommended, but my problem is that I belong to a Co-ed gym. I mean, if I start this Pole dancing, are the guys at the gym going to start tucking dollar bills in my sweatpants? And what would be the tax implications of that? See what I mean? Life is just so complicated -- every little thing you do has to be thought through very carefully....... Anyhow, I think I better stick to the more traditional methods of getting my heart rate up. I'm just too much of a "worry wart" to be trying all this new stuff....... Today was my triple Thursday -- one hour of cardio, a 30 minute abdominals class, and one hour of Yoga. Have a wonderful night everyone!!! Crazy Ates April Exercise Challenge 3/30 Exercise Sessions Banded 8/07/07 Dr. Miguel Zapata, Monterrey Mexico

Need help with list to ask Plastic Surgeon???
Frangipani replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Kellie, This is an amazingly detailed list of excellent questions -- a great many of which I've never even thought of !!!! I am definitely going to be asking whatever Dr. I end up choosing most (if not all) of these questions. I know you posted this a while back, and Texas Becky, a poster in our August 07 group, posted it in our plastic surgery area. However, I wanted to resurrect this thread in the main plastic surgery part of the board because I am sure many of the people currently considering plastic surgery will find your questions to be very helpful. Hi Pizzi, I haven't decided where I'm going yet, but Mexico is still an option for me. I have gathered a fair amount of info from my research regarding Mexican Plastic Surgeons, but there is still more work to be done. I firmly believe that Mexico can be an excellent and affordable option, but finding the right Dr. obviously is more difficult and takes a lot more research. For starters, you will want to be certain that any Mexican plastic surgeon you might choose belongs to this organization: ISAPS The International Society Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery I had an excellent experience having my Lap Band surgery in Mexico, and would not hesitate to recommend my Bariatric Surgeon to anyone. Thus far, I have no experience with plastic surgery in Mexico, but will update when (if) I do, and Pizzi, I would be happy to help you research any Dr. you might be interested in. I enjoy researching, so it would be no problem for me to help you out with this. Okay guys, I have a million and one things to do today, so I better run. More later :smile:! Me again ! Oh, oh. Now you've got me going, hopefully you will be able to get me to stop........ The other post was getting too long, but I also want to say that you should always check to see if your Dr. is currently licensed in the state in which he or she practices and you will want to also check to see if there were or are any types disciplinary or civil actions taken against him or her (hopefully not). Here is some information to assist you in finding out that information. I copied this from another website (List of all 50 State Medical Boards). Hopefully the links provided are all up-to-date, but I have not double-checked this. State Medical Boards: Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners Larry D. Dixon, Executive Administrator P.O. Hi Salsa, Questions are a good thing -- ask lots of questions. A good Dr. will patiently, respectfully, and thoroughly answer all of your questions. I am definitely a woman who asks lots and lots and lots of questions. I'm certain that I drive people a little crazy sometimes with all of my questions, but that's okay. This is my body and I want to know exactly what's being done to it and how -- and I want to ensure that whatever being done to me is carried out with the highest standards of safety and care. The previous post gave you an excellent list of technical questions to ask, but here are some more general questions for you to ask during the initial consult. Some of these things I'm sure are already on your list. Also, you can find some of the answers to these questions on the Internet and I am providing a few links that you can use. 1) Ask to see a Curriculum Vitae or find one online in advance of your appointment. You want to see where your Dr. went to school, and what training that they have had (and where and for how long) after graduation. 2) Make sure the CV has dates. I came across the CV of one plastic surgeon that omitted dates. After a little bit more digging around I found out why -- he had only completed his plastic surgery training last year and had started his practice shortly thereafter. I'm sure this young Dr. is on the road to a fine career, but I personally thought his tactic of omitting dates was a little less than honest, and he was immediately removed from consideration for that very reason. (On a related note, I have a personal preference for surgeons between the ages of 40 - 60. I want them to have significant experience in their field, but to be young, energetic, and enthusiastic enough to have learned and kept up with the latest advances and techniques. I know this is a bit of ageism on my part, but so be it. This is my personal preference, and this criteria has worked well for me thus far.) 3) Ask what board certifications your Dr. has. For plastic surgeons, you want be sure that your Dr. belongs to the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). You can check to see if your Doctor belongs by linking through the ABPS website: www.abplsurg.org 4) For whatever procedure your Dr. proposes ask the following questions: A) How long has the Dr. been doing this procedure? :tt2: How many of these procedures has the Dr. performed? (an important question, as practice makes perfect when it comes to surgery) C) How, where, and when did the Dr. obtain the necessary training to perform this procedure? D) Where will the procedure be done? E) Will the surgery be done in a hospital or a clinic? I know that thousands of surgeries are done safely every day in clinics, but a hospital is my personal preference. There is usually only a minuscule chance that something will go wrong, but if it does, I want to be in a place that has all of the doctors, staff and equipment needed to handle any emergency situation -- which is why I prefer a hospital. F) If the surgery is being done in a hospital, do your research and make sure that it is a reputable, high-quality, hospital (as you know, not all hospitals are created equal). G) If the surgery is being done in a clinic, I would ask your Dr. if the clinic is accredited and by what organization, I would also ask to see the facility, and what exactly what the facility is equipped with. Questions regarding whatever procedure(s) your Dr. recommends: 1) Is this the best procedure for me to correct the area(s) I'm concerned with? 2) What kind of results should I expect from this procedure? 3) What risks are involved in this procedure 4) How long will I be in surgery? 5) How long will I be in the hospital (or clinic)? 5) How long is the recovery period? 6) What should I do prior to surgery to ensure the best results? Good luck tomorrow Salsa :huh2::smile:! And Kelliebellie, I am wowed by your post! Thanks for giving us so many more great questions to ask!!! Hey Guys, This is a great thread with lots of great info. Thanks for sharing ! I'm not diabetic, and as I said earlier, my Internist is a real stickler for doing everything right by the book, so much so that I'm not even going to ask him about this. He'd probably laugh me out of his office anyway, since I have already lost 86 pounds in a relatively short period of time. That said, it's good to know that I probably wouldn't notice a significant difference in my rate of weight loss -- and the thought of injecting myself with a drug that is not necessary for me to take doesn't sound very appealing either........... Have a great day everybody! Crazy Ates April Exercise Challenge 0/30 Exercise Sessions Banded 8/07/07 Dr. Miguel Zapata, Monterrey Mexico
