My insurance turned me down for my pannicolectomy
Frangipani replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Becky, Big hugs to you, and I wholeheartedly agree with everyone else, please do not let this get you down. I wouldn't be surprised if this insurance issue is simply the result of some incompetent person making a faulty judgment that will easily be reversed once this is re-submitted for approval. It seems to me that with all of your detailed medical information, you have a very good shot at prevailing in this matter, so try not to get discouraged this early in the game -- this is just a temporary setback. -
Molly, Molly welcome back :smile:, I was getting worried about you, and was just about to send you a PM to find out how you were doing! What a bummer about the back, I hope it resolves soon. In the meantime enjoy the Pilates! I love Pilates -- it's hard work, but a lot of fun too!!!!

Well...... I did finally manage to tear myself away from the computer just long enough to get an hour of cardio in this evening. Have a great night everyone!

August Bandsters Get-Together? Anyone?
Frangipani replied to lessnless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Becky, Now it will really be a blow out party with the two of you coming down. I wonder how long it will take before they deport us!!!:redface: Let's keep talking and planning -- anyone else interested? Did you know that we actually have a Texas Society down here? They put on a chili cook off every year. Unfortunately, I probably can't do anything in August because crazy me is on a mission to finish up this plastic surgery and I am actually contemplating doing the final round (finishing out the backside) in late July or early August if the Dr. will let me........ But look out when I get back from all this plastic surgery -- and also keep your fingers crossed that I don't suddenly become tempted to walk down main street doing this :rolleyes2: and get myself kicked off the island! -
August Bandsters Get-Together? Anyone?
Frangipani replied to lessnless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Lessnless, With you around it would surely be one hell of a party so let's do it! BUT We will have to wait until after one year Bandivesary is over because August and September are the height of hurricane season around here. Assuming we survive the season intact, (knock on wood, but we usually do), November is actually a better time -- and it's still low season, so plenty of travel deals to be had. Come on down!!!! -
Becky, I have no idea what this guy was thinking. Obviously however, he was not a married man because no woman would ever allow her husband to walk around like this. Okay, one more story and then I'll quit clogging up the thread with OT stuff. About a year ago I was sitting at a beachside restaurant and this really, really drunk guy suddenly decided to go skinny dipping (another thing absolutely frowned upon around here). If that wasn't bad enough he then decided to walk into the kitchen stark naked (thankfully, my food had already been served to me :rolleyes2:). The cook at this restaurant is a very lively, feisty, local lady and when she turned around and saw this naked guy standing in her kitchen, all hell broke loose! In fact, if I had been able to take a video of her reaction, I would have won the grand prize on America's Funniest Videos, for all time!!! As drunk as that guy was, he had all of his clothes back on (including shoes and socks) in about two seconds flat because she went after him with, lets just say.....a very sharp cooking utensil. I swear to God I was not able to compose myself for nearly an hour after that because I was laughing so hysterically. It was truly one of the most hilarious things I have ever witnessed in my life :redface:! Every time I see that cook we talk about this and we still laugh ourselves silly about it.

LOL Becky! You are definitely going to be one hot Mama -- no doubt about it. Quick story, not related to you -- but you talking about shouting from the rooftops reminded me of this, I swear to God that it seems as if half the women on the planet who have had breast procedures takes a vacation in the Virgin Islands shortly afterwards and every single one parades through town in a skimpy bathing suit top. If that isn't bad enough, a good number of them seem fully prepared to show us even more at even the slightest provocation!!! I truly hope that my breast implants do not re-hardwire my brain in this way because frankly, it is a little embarrassing to see grown women acting like this. Not only that, the locals here are very proper, traditional, modest, and fastidious about their appearance and dressing and acting properly is quite important around here. Skimpy clothing is absolutely frowned upon in anyplace except the beach, and these poor women often subject themselves to very unkind treatment by the locals when they walk around town half dressed, as the locals consider this to be one of the highest forms of disrespect for their island and their culture. I have kind of appointed myself as sort of a "cultural conceierge" and whenever I can, I try to explain the local norms and standards (in a nice way) to people so that they don't have problems....... That said, I drew the line at a guy standing on a street corner in town in a SPEEDO!!!! Yes, a Speedo!!! I'm sorry, but I just can't look a man wearing a Speedo in the eye with a straight face, and he was left to fend for himself!

Steph's PS Journey - Breast Reduction/Lift, Medial Thigh Lift and Full Abdominoplasty
Frangipani replied to bosteph's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Steph, Good luck and let us know once you have your date set. I'm having surgery the second week in June also (Friday the 13th :rolleyes2: -- no wonder the date was available). I'm having a full TT along with breast lift with augmentation, and some GYN surgery that I've been needing for a while. Having the plastic surgery was a good motivator for me to get the GYN surgery scheduled, because that sort of thing is never any fun. Are you having everything done at once? If so, will your surgeon be working alone, or will he have someone assisting? -
Kat, So glad to hear that the recovery is going so well and smoothly. It sounds like you are doing all the right things to speed this along. A big thumbs up to your DH too, for taking such excellent care of you :rolleyes2::thumbup::biggrin:!

Salsa, I don't know how I missed your posts last night, I must have been writing at the same time you were posting! I definitely want to see the pic with the pants turned inside out -- you are too funny! :rolleyes2::biggrin::biggrin:

Becky, You sound so excited and I am SO happy for you. You are a beautiful person and you truly deserve all of the exciting and wonderful things coming your way!!!!

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
Frangipani replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Stranger, You and I are on the same week. How's it going for you this week? Not too hot I hope??? -
LOL Jody, I actually fogot that it's Memorial Day Weekend. Hello! Thanks for the reminder :cursing: I got another Couch to 5K session in tonight. Have a great night and a great Holiday Weekend everyone!
-
Jody, Congratulations!!!! :blushing::thumbup::thumbup: Don't forget to change your signature!!!! You're nearly halfway there for the month and we still have 8 more days to reach our goal. I eat a South Beach Cereal Bar nearly every day, and when I'm traveling I sometimes have them for breakfast and lunch. They're pretty good and they fill you up too.
-
Sigh, I definitely do miss the joys and conveniences of modern life sometimes....... BTW, I just realized I was wrong about the Lonesome Dove audio version I'm listening to -- it's not read by the author, the narrator is Lee Horsley. When I finish this book I'm going to try to find some others that he's narrated because he is superb!!!! I was in bed listening to my book last night, and actually woke my husband up because I was laughing so hard :blushing:!
-
Hi, Great idea to remove it! It was distracting and rather meaningless since so many people didn't know how to use it. I'm one of those who never quite figured it out..............
-
Were you unfilled before your PS?
Frangipani replied to Frangipani's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Steph I'm amazed at how many pounds of fat and skin they remove during surgery. You lost 6, Kat lost 12. I'm so glad you told me about this! Hi Lady Splenda, thanks for the feedback. Is everything okay now? -
Hi everyone! Congratulations to all of you who have successfully completed your PS journey. I am an avid reader of all of your threads, and the information and pics you have so generously shared have helped to take a lot of the fear and uncertainty out of this whole process for me -- thanks so much to all of you!!!! I will be starting my PS journey soon, (hopefully in early June) and will post more details in this section once I have them all worked out, but I had a quick question for you in the meantime -- did your Dr. require you to be unfilled prior to surgery? Since I still have some more weight to lose and because (as we all know) it is often tough and time consuming to get just the right fill, I would prefer not to be unfilled, and I was just wondering what most of you ended up doing. Thanks again -- you ladies are awesome!!!
-
Jody, Glad you like the website. I love it!!! And OMG am I ever enjoying Lonesome Dove! As if the characters aren't already funny enough, McMurtry's reading makes them laugh out loud hilarious!!! I told my husband that I will be sorry to see the book end -- he read it many years ago and loved it and told me that I definitely will. Cerrin I love PD James too!

Becky LOL! Don't even go too crazy on clothes until a while after surgery because you might even drop down to a size six! What I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around is how I'm going to look after surgery. I mean, I think I am going to look like I've never looked (certainly the bust line will be infinitely more impressive than it has ever been). It's really hard to come up with a mental picture because even when I was in college and weighed 106 pounds, I still had little pooch of fat in my lower abdomen. So to think of a perfectly flat tummy well......to be honest, I'll believe it when I see it!!!! I am still not sure it's going to happen even though the Dr. claims it will :crying:. I did not book my flight because fares have gone through the roof with the price of fuel skyrocketing. It is well over $400 to fly to Miami and I have never paid that before. I will probably end up using frequent flyer miles. My husband is quite insistent on being there BUT, I'm being a little protective of his schedule. He's one of these people that always piles way too much on his plate, so I'm kind of sitting back to see what's happening with his schedule before I book his flight for him. Definitely he will be there for at least a few days, I think........ I'm excited for sure, but also getting just a wee bit nervous -- not so much about the PS, but more about the pain from the open myomectomy plus all the other things I'm having done. If I can rest comfortably, I'll be fine, but my concern is that I will be in pain and that I won't be able to rest either. But I guess there's no use worrying about it.
-
Becky, Thanks for the concern -- you are always such a sweetheart :crying:! I did a 30 minute pilates/abdominals class and a one hour Yoga class. Have a great night everyone!!!

Has anyone had breast lifting
Frangipani replied to slimmy120's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for the feedback Kate, My Dr. does stunning breasts, I love the look of implants, and everyone I know who has silicone is extremely happy with them, so there's no doubt in my mind about any of these things. The only question mark in my mind at this point is the scarring. It was was therefore great to read what you thought about your friend's scar one year post-op. My breasts are small and they won't be made very much larger, because shape is far more important to me than size. (Although I am going to go up one cup size to a small "C" because there is just no way I am paying thousands of dollars for a "B" cup -- it just isn't a good "value" :rolleyes2:.) My Dr. told me that he will be doing the anchor, but I'm hoping that since my breasts are not very large (or even very droopy), that he will be able to minimize the size of the incision and the scarring. If anyone else has any feedback regarding the anchor incision and scarring, I would be happy to hear more. -
Kendra, what fabulous news!!!! I agree with everyone else -- your incredibly positive attitude kicked the living S#!t out of that nasty old tumor. It couldn't have been happy anyhow being around such a lovely and positive person such as you -- good riddance!!! Happy, happy, happy dance!!!! :rolleyes2::target::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide:

Well, I'm going to give myself a little pat on the back tonight. It is the worst part of my TOM (TMI for all of you probably sorry ), AND I had a horrendous toothache (not sure what's up with that, need to see the dentist tomorrow) BUT, I still did my Couch to 5K session! Becky, you are going to have one pretty garden to look at while you're recovering! Have a great night everyone!

How Long Did/Will Your Surgery Take?
Frangipani replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well, as you know Becky I haven't had my surgery yet, (I'll be just one day behind you girlfriend ) so this is my best guess. When I was talking about doing my LBL all at once, my Dr. told me that it would take 4-6 hours, with just him alone and no medial thigh lift -- so your Dr.'s estimate sounds pretty much in line with the info I got. I have no idea how long my surgery will take now with the new game plan, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't take as long as it took to get the two Dr.'s schedules together !
