Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
Frangipani replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Everyone! Thanks again for all of your kindness! WOW!!!! You ladies are wonderful!!! I will post more tomorrow because this time, I am truly "done in" for the day -- and it has turned out to be quite the hectic day. Well let's see.... since I've posted, I have driven back and forth to my Dr.'s office, and back and forth to the Miami Airport. I also had lightning strike not more than 20 feet behind me as I was caught in a Miami traffic jam. That was quite the experience -- bright intense flash of light, sparks the works. Whew! It feels good to be back at the hotel finally. Here are my updates, Fatigue: Lack of caffeine probably. I had a few cups of strong caffeinated tea and I perked right up. Thank goodness it was something as simple as that! I guess the moral of the story is that if you are a coffee drinker, it helps to put some caffeine back in your diet :cursing:! Fever: The Dr. says to watch it, but that it was probably as you said Kat, being caused by "stuff" backing up in my lungs. He encouraged me to keep moving and keep doing those breathing exercises, and to feel free to call him anytime. Thanks for the reminder Kat. I still have my breathing machine and I plan to use it faithfully until this passes. Airport: After sitting at the Miami airport for several hours, my husband's flight was completely canceled. How frustrating is that? Furthermore he was supposed to be at a big meeting at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning -- but what can he do? There is just absolutely no way to get back to home tonight. They put him on a 7:30 AM flight tomorrow and hopefully that will go smoothly. Lightning: Totally weird experience -- I've never had that happen before. Thank goodness no one was hurt. All it did was create a bright light and lot of sparks for a few moments. (Oh yeah, and it got the fire truck rolling too) Driving: No, I'm not really supposed to be driving, but I have to, so I am. Today was my first day and it went well, but I did make sure that I was completely "drug free" before I hit the road. Tomorrow, I hope to stay in all or most of the day. Well as I said, I'm really tired and I'm walking very hunched over at this point. Will post more tomorrow, and thank you so much ladies. I simply cannot believe how wonderful everyone has been!!! -

Hi, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be much help today Becky -- except to send you big hugs and hope that it gets better for you. I wanted to respond to everyone's lovely messages individually and I will, but just not right now. In fact, I am only going to be able to stay online for just a few minutes. I had a slight fever last night (101.9), but manged to bring it down to 99 when I took some Percocet. Today I'm feeling very tired and dragged out. I'm not in pain, I'm just tired, BUT when I lie down I cannot sleep-- which is very frustrating. I will be seeing the Dr. at 4:30 today and will try to update later. If not, I will update tomorrow. Thank you for the compliments and lovely messages everyone. Talk to you soon ! -

Hi Everyone, I'm back and feeling great -- much, much better than I ever expected to at this point. I just caught up on all of your posts and Jody kept me up to date as well. I simply cannot tell you how much I appreciated all of your kindness and support. Thank you SO much!!! Becky, I'm sorry to hear that you got off to a rocky start with the pain but am very glad to see that things are getting better for you each day and that you are very pleased with the results. My surgery went much better than I ever expected, despite the fact that the GYN part of the surgery turned out to be far more extensive than we thought. We knew that I had one very large fibroid tumor, but when the Dr. opened me up, he discovered 4 other tumors plus an ovarian cyst, all of which he removed. I was in surgery for about 8 hours. As far as the drug questions that have come up. I had lots and lots of good drugs at my disposal -- more than I actually ended up needing. My doctors did a great job of making sure that good pain medication was there and available any time I needed it or asked for it. For the first 36 hours or so after surgery I was on a PCA machine that allowed me to push a button to have morphine injected into my IV line every 6 minutes. Considering all that had been done to my uterus, I think that the the PCA was invaluable in keeping me comfortable, and I was in almost no pain. In fact, I was surprisingly quite comfortable that first night, which was such a huge relief for me. On Saturday night they switched me over to Percocet taken by mouth and I would take a quantity of 2 (sorry don't know the strength) every four hours. One of the things I have learned from all you wonderful ladies is to "stay ahead" of the pain (i.e., don't wait for the pain to hit before taking medication), so that's what I have done. Yesterday I was discharged from the hospital and I have been taking my perscription pain medication (Percocet 5mg quantity of 1) every three hours. So far, (knock on wood) this seems to be taking care of the pain just fine. In fact today, I will try to cut back on the pain meds even more. Anyhow, overall I had an A+++++ experience with everything. The hospital was very nice, friendly, clean and comfortable and my Doctors were awesome. Now for the fun stuff . Breasts! I have them :woot:! No more B cup!!! We (well, he) used a 400cc silicone implant, which I was concerned would be too big BUT they are just the right size. They are very swollen right now, but I can tell that they will settle into a perfect size. I love the shape too, which is alway the thing I have disliked most about my breats. I love, love, love the breasts, so far so good ! I also wanted to mention that I had virtually no pain from the breast surgery. The first day I was a bit sore and stiff in the chest area, but that went away quickly and the only problem I'm having now is that I keep dropping food down my bra because I forget how far the breast are protruding from my chest when I eat  Tummy -- I never would have believed this in a million years, but the tummy is flat! Woo hoo!!!! I like the tummy a lot so far, but am not loving it just yet because the incisions are so raw an icky looking. I hope this clears up soon, but I am going to be visiting my Dr. tomorrow to get his feedback on all of this. That said, he seems to have pulled me very tight, which I assume is standard practice. He also did a fabulous job on the mons area, as well. Well, this post seems to have turned into a novel at this point, so I will stop here and post again later. Thanks again and big hugs to everyone -- you have all been just fabulous!!!! Becky my dear girlfriend, big hugs and lots of love headed over to Dallas for you.:smile::smile: We made it Woo Hoo!!!:tt1: -
Hi Everyone, This is a wonderful forum with SO much information! I have made the decision to get the band in Mexico (I think) and have narrowed my choices down to three Docs -- Rumbaut, Ortiz, and Zapata. Zapata is the least expensive of the three. Questions: Any opinions about which of these three I should choose? Are there any other Doctors that I should consider? They say you get what you pay for, but in this case all three Doctors seem excellent -- so is it safe to just go with the least expensive? Thank you so much for your help!

Woo Hoo!!! That's what I wanted to hear. Have a great time Karey! We'll miss you -- thanks again for all of your excellent advice and support!!!:smile::smile: Thank you so much Go J !!! Thanks Jody, I will be in touch as soon as I possibly can :smile::smile:! Well, I have just a few things left to do, but I am (more or less) set for the big day. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 AM and the Dr. thinks that it will take approximately 5 - 6 hours. I will be in the hospital until Monday, but LadyBugRed (aka Jody) will post an update for me. Thanks again everyone for all of the wonderful support and well wishes. Talk to you soon! -

Hi Everyone! Wow, I just signed on and saw all the lovely messages!!! Thanks everyone!!! You're wonderful!!! Shalee you have a great vacation too!!! I am a bit pressed for time today and will respond to everyone in more detail later. I didn't get to my hotel until 4:00 AM. I will spare you the details, but everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong on the way here. However, I finally made it and everything is fine now. I visited with the Dr. this morning morning and went over the final details of everything (my questions, signing consents, talking about the size of the implants, blah, blah, blah) and I feel really good about everything. I'm also happy to announce that the worst part of the surgery is now over (paying for it :w00t:). Other than that, I have spent the rest of the day trying to gather up all the things you wonderful ladies suggested. I still have a bit more shopping to do, but I'm sure that I will have everything I need by Friday. The only really bad news I got today is that Stein Mart is having a big sale this weekend. Can you believe it??? What kind of rotten luck is that???? Why can't they hold off until next weekend???? Didn't they know I was going to be in the hospital???:incazzato::cool2: I've already told the ladies that if they see someone rolling in with an IV line trailing behind them, that will be me :Banane11:! Anyhow... Becky, I have been thinking of you all day and will be thinking of you all day again tomorrow. I wish you the very very best tomorrow. I know you will sail right through this surgery, and I am very much looking forward to hearing from your sister or LJM as to how it all went. Great big huge hugs to you lady!!!! Talk to you soon !!! -

Thank you so much for your support and kind words Go J :smile: !!!! Keep sending those vibes, I'm sure that by the end of the week we'll be needing them!!! Becky, it sounds like your Dr. did a good job making sure you're covered after you are released from the hospital. I'm sure it's great to have everything you might need on hand just in case........... Thank you so much for the excellent suggestions Salsa ! Well everyone, I'm headed up to Miami later on this afternoon. I still have some things to do before I leave so I'm not sure if I will be checking back in today or not, but if not, I will check in tomorrow. Thanks again everyone for all the wonderful encouragement and advice!!! -

Well Becky you said a lot of things far better than I could have, and Ditto to everything you said. I feel the same way about all the wonderful support we have gotten here! And Becky, thank you for the lovely words. You have actually been the one who has inspired me. I too, am so glad that we are doing this together. I couldn't think of a better, nicer person to do this with. I'm SO glad that we connected through this forum, you and I have such a great simpatico. Love you girlfriend and I know you are going to sail through this with flying colors. I will be eagerly awaiting word of your progress on Thursday!!! Kat, thank you for the support and encouragement! I agree with everything Becky said, you have been a wonderful source of advice and inspiration. Talk to everyone soon -- thanks again!!!!:party: -
Hi Kat, Welcome back!!!! I thought about you several times last week, and hoped you were enjoying yourself -- although I can totally relate to how you felt being away from Internet access. You are doing SO WELL Kat -- Wow!!! Less than 3 weeks after surgery and you're already riding with DH on a motorcycle? Good for you girl!! Gosh, 177 for your height is great isn't it? I'm thinking you don't want to lose too much more. I'm sure you're still pretty swollen now too, and once that goes away you will be fitting beautifully into your size tens! Good luck with your appointment on Wednesday and let us know what the Dr. says!!!
-
Wow Bamagal, thank you so much for the information -- that's terrific! Did you use Dr. Wizman for your first fill? Did you like him?
-
Goodness, where do I start? Everyone is really rocking it this month -- AWESOME job all :party:!!! Daddy congrats on finishing your first tri and good luck on your upcoming tri, Ceradad! Jody, Tess, and Florida Girl, welcome to the thread! So great to have you here!!!! I got another session of Couch to 5K in this evening, but I sort of made up my own variation of week 5. I won't bore you with the details as they are more pertinent to the Couch to 5K thread, where I did post the details. Well, I will be taking a little time off from exercising, but I hope to be back with short walks ASAP, perhaps even as soon as next week. Talk to everyone soon, and keep rockin':thumbup::party:!!!

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
Frangipani replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
It's me again ! I wanted to update on my Couch to 5K progress. I did do three sessions of week five BUT I did the first session (3, 5 minute intervals with a 3 minute walk in between) three times rather than moving into the 8 & 20 minute runs. Since I am traveling up to Miami tomorrow and having surgery on Friday, I wanted to push myself a bit, but not too much -- so that was my compromise. I will need to take at least a month or 6 weeks off from running, but I'll be back. Good luck to everyone, keep up the good work and I will talk to you all again soon!!!! -

Bravo Chris!!!! :tongue2::clap::smile::clap::scared2::clap::crying::wub::smile::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: What an incredibly uplifting and inspiring post -- and Congratulations on running 5K!!! I'm going to try that tonight when I to another session of Couch to 5K picking out a marker and thinking "You are Easy" as I pass it. That's a great idea -- I bet it really does work well!!! -
Hi Kizzie, No I did not -- let me know if you should happen to find anything out. I do know of a few Dr.'s, but as I said before, the prices they want for fills under fluoro are way ridiculous.

OMG Nurseamy!!! That tummy looks AMAZING ! Congratulations, you are truly one Hot Mama, girl!!!! If I end up looking even HALF as good as you, I will be over the moon with excitement!!! In fact, I am going to show your tummy photo to my Dr. and tell him that I want to look just like you. I'm not kidding, I am going to do this! (I will be SO lucky if that poor man doesn't flip out and kill me before this is all said done :tongue2:......). -
Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey
Frangipani replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
BBK, I'm sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your breasts. Do call the Dr. about this and let us know what he says. As far as any revisions, I would say that your Dr. should cover 100% of all fees and costs. After all, he was the one who made a unilateral decision to try a "new technique" on your breasts without discussing it with you in advance. I do understand that sometimes with plastic surgery things don't always turn out perfect and revisions have to be made, BUT in this case, the responsibility for things not turning out as expected seems to fall squarely in his lap. -

"Smoking Hot!!!!" Well.....I just won't know what to do with myself if that happens :tongue2:! Thank you so much Karey for the encouragement and the kind words. You have been such a HUGE help. On Saturday I sat down in front of the computer with my notebook, pulled up this thread, and made out my shopping list for Florida. I really, really appreciate all of your suggestions and great advice :smile::smile: Awwwww Jody! Thank you so much -- and big hugs to you for your lovely thoughts!!!! Your patients are extremely fortunate to have such a kind and compassionate person attending to them -- I'm so glad that someone like you is out there helping people in emergency medical situations. I'll definitely be calling, hopefully Friday night, but if not, I will be in touch on Saturday (after I get back from Stein Mart :crying:). Please also thank DH and DS for their thoughts and well wishes. Congratulations on losing 1.4 pounds -- WOW! Keep up the good work :thumbup::scared2:!!! -

Hey Jody! Welcome back!!! Glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip!!! I had all of my pre-op last week and everything was A-Okay! My GYN also told me that my myomectomy should not be very difficult and that it should only take about 45 minute to an hour. I'm not sure how long these things usually take, but that doesn't sound like very long to me . I'm not really nervous, and let's hope I stay that way! Becky, I wonder what that will be like going home with your body all marked up -- strange huh? I won't be marked up until the morning of which is a good thing because I know me, if I had markings the night before, I would be scrutinizing them, analyzing them, and trying to second guess the Dr. In fact, I'm the type that might even take a pencil and draw in a few additional "suggestions" for him !!! He probably knows this about me too (he does in fact, because he told me that I definitely get into the "fine detail" of things), which is probably why he is waiting until just before to mark me up. I'm sure that poor man will be SO GLAD when the anesthesiologist finally puts me into la la land!!! All of my surgeons have been! (LOL ) -
Thanks for the info vegwannabe! I quit watching that show a few years back because Dr. Rey drives me NUTS -- he's SO full of himself and he often acts very strangely and unprofessionally with his patients, also his wife (who seems to be a chronic "whiner") gets on my last nerve too!!! Dr. Diamond seems like a pretty good guy though, I liked the episode where he proposed to his girlfriend and arranged for her Mom and sisters to be there as a surprise as well, I thought that was really sweet :incazzato::smile::driving:! They probably have children by now -- huh?

Hey Karen, Great to hear from you! Thanks and congratulations on your weight loss and upcoming surgery!!! We will look forward to following your journey too! And lucky you with the insurance coverage -- way to go :driving:! I'm not sure what my Dr.'s plan is regarding pain medication, but because the GYN Dr. will be cutting right through and doing open surgery on my uterus (OUCH!), I think I'm going to need something fairly strong (whatever that may be). I'm not too concerned about what they give me, my only concern at this point is that they give me enough to make me comfortable. I'm usually a natural, organic, sort of a girl, but when it comes to pain, bring on the chemicals!!!! Are you having a pain pump Becky? They sound great! By the way, the new photo I posted below is not me, it's a stock photo -- no amount of lipo in the world would ever give me legs like that :incazzato:! -
Would you get breast implant.....??
Frangipani replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Alright :thumbup:! I need a good gig to help pay for my surgery -- it's a deal!!! Regarding the sizing on the camis, I will be stopping in at Stein Mart some time in the next few weeks and when I do, I will check out the sizes for you GG, and let you know. Hi Leslie, Yes, I got them at Stein Mart. I don't have a problem with it riding up, but you might want to start with just one and see how it works for you. I will say that they have the nicest most substantial bra that I have ever seen in this type of a cami. By the way, I'm sure that they carry these at other stores like Macy's or Nordstrom or Dillards, if you don't happen to find them in stock at Stein Mart. Happy shopping! I LOVE Stein Mart!!! -
Hey XX -- seems like you're really starting to get into this ! I got another Couch to 5K session in this evening. Hope everyone is having a great weekend :smile::thumbup:!

Frangipani replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey GG, Good morning! On today's edition of of the GG show, we are talking about bras and shapewear, and boobies in general (LOL ) Seriously, if you decide you want to try one out, just let me know, I can always mail one to you. They're very light, and I doubt shipping would cost very much. Here's their website by the way -- just so that you can see what I'm talking about http://www.cuddlduds.com/ As I said earlier, I have the "Secret Weapon Push-Up," but they have other similar products as well.:smile::thumbup:
