19 Days Out And Gained 1.5 Lbs! Why?
staop2003 replied to Mycloice2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is adjusting to what is happening to it. I gained when I switched over to each different stage so don't panic. As long as you follow your doctors and nuts instructions you WILL lose!! Good luck on your journey! -
I had surgery on July 9th and did fine. I can eat pretty much anything but there are things I don't eat yet - bread, pasta, rice ad I'm slowly introducing fruits. I focus on protein then veggies then carbs (if any). I lost about 60 pounds so far. I have noticed that the more calories I eat the better I'm losing. I exercise four days a week - an hour class of Zumba but I was exercising a year and a half before surgery so that is the easy part! I found this to be pretty easy so far. I eat on schedule not because I'm hungry and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. My portions are under 5 oz. total - 2-3 oz being the protein. And I track everything I eat!!

I take soma for my back at night. I have to cut them into four pieces and take them 1/2 hour apart because you can feel when they take effect and if I take it all at once it knocks me on my butt!! So be careful

In need lf help...
staop2003 replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would try to focus on your portion size. I eat about 90 grams of protein but only 700 calories. I don't eat over 3-4 ounces of protein per meal and then two high protein snacks. Remember that a normal serving is only 3-4 ounces. That should keep your calories where they should be. Now if your working out you need those higher calories so it depends on where you are at and what your doing. It's all a learning curve. Good luck!!! -
My back was killing me!!! I think it's because your core has been altered and is not supporting your back right now. The first three weeks my back just ached. But it will get better - I had great days and then some not so good but your healing. The pain does stop so hang in there. It is all worth it!!

I forgot to mention that when I took a walk it did help receive the pulling a little - just a short one around the block or even half way if you can. I actually did have a follow up with the doctor and asked him and he said its the healing. It does hurt pretty bad sometimes - just rest!!! Good luck on your journey!!

It is normal - your inside stitches are pulling a little. I had this pain for a full month with bouts of it getting worse then better. I went dancing last night and have very mild pulling today. It's your body healing. Take it easy ad I would use a hearing pad and that helped. I am 6 weeks out now. Hang in there is gets better.

Yu can try Unjury - look at their website - they have chicken flavor that's great for soup after surgery. I use Body Fortress and mix with water.

Pills get absorbed - I asked my RN and the only pill they worry about is time release. You can chew it or break it up if you are concerned. -
How long were you sore, tired, etc?
staop2003 replied to KellyLessBelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no problem with surgery and went back to work after two weeks and I was VERY tired and sore. I get all my protein and water in but my body just went through a big change. I am almost 6 weeks out and I feel great - my energy is up and no pain!! The pain lasted about a month - I would say pulls an pings not really pain. I returned to my exercise of choice Zumba last week. So hang in there your energy will come back!!! -
Stinging, Pulling feeling on inside Post-op ?
staop2003 replied to mom24kiddos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing and the only thing that helped was walking. I went on a half an hour walk and the next morning it was gone. I had the pain on and off for a month. I thought it was because I lifted my pug who was over 25 lbs. but the walking made it go away. It's part of the healing process so don't panic. I am currently a little over 5 weeks out and I feel great. Started exercising again and really feel back to normal. Hang in there. -
I had my surgery on 7/9 and I'm on regular foods now. I don't have any problem getting my Protein in - sometimes as much as 90!!! I had a week stall once on regular food and I know it was my body adjusting to the changes. I had a WTH did I do to myself one time and that was right after the surgery - at this point I feel really good and I start back exercising this week!!! I haven't had a food that I can't eat yet so I guess I'm lucky. I keep all meals around 3 oz protein, then veggie and if there is room a carb. My Proteins will vary depending on how dense they are. I ate my first beef last week and did great (lean beef of course). So far I am loving my journey and enjoy watching my body change. Good luck everyone!!

Each day it gets better!! Sip away and keep walking! -
I am addicted to Zumba - I did it for a year an a half before the surgery and couldn't wait to start again!!! So much fun !!

I am a month out and on regular foods. I am tracking on myfitnesspal and I'm wondering how many calories I should be having a day. I average between 550-695. Just wanted to make sure that is where I should be. I just looked at my paperwork and will be adding in two high Protein Snacks in between my meals. My protein is fine but I wanted to check to make sure my calories were okay!

Couldn't be sleeved so I'm having the bypass

I went through the same thing. After all the testing my doctor said they he would suggest the RYN because of GERD. I was devastated and almost cancelled the whole thing. My doctor was very patient with me and explained and answered all my questions and made me comfortable moving forward. My surgery was July 9th and I'm very happy with the decision. Research and educate yourself - there are scary stories out there but for every bad one there are 20 good. It's a life changing decision and has to be right you. Good luck! -
I had surgery July 9th and it went very well. I stayed in the hospital three nights - they said I could leave after 2 but I wanted to stay one more. I was up and walking 1/2 hour after surgery and then every 2 hours after that. There was pain and I would compare it to a c- section. There are sometimes sharp pains sometimes just pulls other times it feels like its burning. But manageable - I had 1 what the hell did I do to myself moment in the hospital but it passed. I am getting my Protein and Water in and have a good schedule with the Vitamins. I think it's all about a schedule and doing your best to keep to it. food hasn't been any problem but I'm still on full liquids - Tuesday I start the third stage so we will see how that goes. I look forward to this journey and where it takes me. I'm hoping I can get clearance to go back to Zumba my exercise of choice!! If anyone is thinking about this surgery do your research and educate yourself. I interviewed three surgeons before deciding on mine. You have to have faith in them and have a support system. My sister had the sleeve so she can answer most of my questions and is a great help. Good luck!!!
