Hi there! I'm back! Thanks to everyone who responded to my question on whether you had told people that you were having the operation or not. My husband, father, brother, and two friends know, but that is all, and only two of them live in my state. I decided I'd just try to keep it quiet for the time being. I've always been able to lose weight on my own, although I did use Phen/Fen back in the 90's, which I loved. I guess I saw this as an admission of failure, but I'm 48 and think it was time to admit that I needed some assistance. I can lose weight, but it always comes back on. I'm one of those people who is healthy, absolutely no health problems, not on any medications, etc., not morbidly obese, etc., but who had a weight problem. Was fortunate to find a doctor who would operate on someone with my BMI. I understand this happens more frequently in Europe, than here. All private pay of course, but I think it's worth it! I'm doing well, but very tired of the liquids. Still not getting much more than 500 calories in a day, just because I don't care for the sickening sweet taste of the Meal Replacement shakes and the Protein drinks. I'm forcing myself to down them however. I don't feel any restriction at all, but am not really taste hungry, just eating because I know that I'm not getting enough calories in. My post-op appt is next Thursday, which will be the 10th day following surgery, I hope he'll tell me I can go ahead and move forward to the soft food stage as I would love to have some actual meat even if it has to be ground up! The only thing I've tried that would be considered cheating is sucking on a teaspoon of creamy Peanut Butter the other day, to try to get over the 500 calorie mark. I took my time and let it dissolve on my tongue and it really seemed to help with my energy level. Except for some light walking, I haven't started back on my exercise routine yet, which includes the treadmill, exercise bike, free weights, etc. I might try this afternoon, but I just don't seem to have any amount of energy since the operation. Weight still coming off though!

On Mon-7/16. How about you?

Thanks, Lainy! I was thinking if I did it this way, I could always take others into my confidence later if I liked.

Hello! My third post-op day went well and I've started to lose weight again! Which is no wonder with so few calories per day. I'll be glad when I can get off of these terrible shakes. I really don't like vanilla or chocolate sweet drinks! Out of curiosity, how many of you are like me and haven't told anybody at their job that they are having surgery? I'm usually the one who tells everybody anything they would like to know, but decided to keep this very, very private! Just curious!

I think the doc agreed with me that it was lasting effects of the anesthesia creating the nausea. I'm moving around, doing stuff around the house, the two walks, etc., but spending a lot of time reading and watching DVD's too. Thought I was going to enjoy this week home more than this and am a little worried about what it's going to be like on an all liquid diet back at work next week. I'm ready to move forward and get some real meat back into my diet.

Hi everyone! I'm back. I was banded on Monday and doing well the next day, but then nausea set in on Tuesday evening and most of the day Wednesday and it was hard to even contemplate a Protein Shake. Got a prescription called in for the nausea and doing well again. Still very hard to tolerate the shakes. I'm just not a sweets person and everything, even the Vitamins, are so darn sweet! I'm having a hard time consuming much more than 400 calories a day and only getting about 52 grams of Protein in. Did take two short walks outside today and it was amazing how strenuous that was and I've always been one to work out pretty religiously. Switched sides of the bed with my husband and it was much easier to get in and out during the night to go to the bathroom. My left side is still pretty sore! Hope things are better before I head back to work next Monday!

Think I did as you suggested with the signature, but it posted my last one with the new signature, so got two tickers. Think I'll get it right now. Then you just have to update the signature each time your weight changes I guess. Couldn't get it to point to the URL, so just pasted it in!

That sounds like great progress to me! My doctor is all liquids for two weeks, then pureed for four weeks, and then soft foods! I lost 12.5 pounds on the pre-op diet, but gained a bit due to the IV fluids on my surgery day, but it will come back off quickly I expect.

Thanks Ash! I'll be going back to work next Monday as well! Don't think I'll have any problem with that at all.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this, so perhaps I'm not starting a new post to the thread properly, but I'll learn. I just got banded yesterday! Only 44 days from seminar to surgery, so it's been a whirlwind! Feeling okay today, but pretty sore! Not very hungry, which is nice. Hope to sleep better tonight!
