I found that it gets better after day 3. The hunger decreases. Don't cheat otherwise you will get more hungry again!

Are there any fellow equestrians out there. I'm wondering how long it took to get back on a horse and any changes in they you feel on the horse. Changes in center of gravity?

Horseback riding

It's a fantastic sport and great exercise. Horses are amazing and so therapeutic. Go for it. -
It's very difficult trying to find heathy food out. The reason it taste so good is the fat and sodium they add. I find that it's a pretty slippery slope eating out to often. My taste buds get use to the higher fat and sodium and before I know it, I'm craving food that way.....

This wait is killing me!
Equestriangirl replied to Crkrjax76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The waiting is murder, first the wait for auth, then the wait for surgery... I filed my time reading everything I could about weight loss surgery, studying all the guidelines, going to support groups. -
So sad and frustrated and filled with regret
Equestriangirl replied to annalobdell79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found this book "The success habits of weight loss surgery patients" by Colleen Cook to be very helpful. Are there any live support groups in your area? I also found those very helpful. You will see that, the range of people and their weight loss and struggles. You are not alone. Try to stay positive. -
Yes, this is a very common uneducated attitude. I'm having my surgery at a top University hospital where they do research on obesity. There is a lot of scientific research that supports gastric bypass surgery for the morbidly obese. There are also many research studies that show that 95% of the time with obese people they will gain the weight back. Obesity is a complex disease. Statisticaly, weight loss surgery is the best treatment. Maybe, in the future, something else will come along. Obesity is a huge problem in our country. I'm not going to waste anymore of my life. Best of lick a d be happy!

My surgeon says no alcohol for one year post surgery. I will follow his instructions.i also know that one of the major complication of this surgery is addiction. Many people who have this surgery are food addicts and when they don't have food anymore, they replace it with something else....like alcohol. Be smart, follow your doctors recommendations.

6-17-13 Exploring options
Equestriangirl replied to mojaleski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to be 55 yrs. old and am having gastric bypass on August 26. I went to my clinic seminar thinking that's the surgery I wanted because that it was the best long term statistic of loss of excess weight. That's because it uses the 2 modalities ( restrictive and malabsorption) But, you have to take a lot Vitamins and Calcium everyday for the rest of your life. After, my surgery consult, I knew that was the right surgery for me. It's also important to find our how many surgeries has your surgeon has done, his complication rate and mortalities.... Best of luck in your journey. -
My surgeon says no alcohol for 1 year. Also, there is the fact that one of the long term side effects of RNY is alcohol addiction.
